I Became The Childhood Friend of the Obsessive Second Male Lead

Chapter 78

Chapter 78

What……

Rieta was startled to the point where her heart beat wildly.

Thump, thump.

It was painfully strong and dizzyingly fast.

Her breathing became choked.

She thought that if she didn’t scream or let something out of her right then and there, she would choke to death.

“Of course. I somewhat wish to be born as a daughter abandoned by the King of Liz.”

No!

Rieta cried out in her heart.

I’ve never . . .

Never even once.

I never felt grateful to Father.

It’s true that life here was good, but the truth was . . .

Deep in her heart, she was always longing for a beautiful land where wheat and barley would sway.

Warm people and weak-hearted brothers . . .

“It’s here, Lord Noel.”

At that moment, a boy’s voice was heard from somewhere in the greenhouse.

She didn’t know who the other person was, but Rieta looked around in surprise at the word ‘Noel’.

“The greenhouse that the Princess likes. Lord always says that greenhouses are boring, but if you see them for yourself, you will change your mind.”

The face of the other person was still invisible. Who in the world was that?

Rieta tilted her head.

A while ago, the two people who had said that they wished to be abandoned by the King of Liz as well suddenly held their breath and began to sneak away.

Perhaps because the second son of the Duke, Noel Mayer, was coming here, they quickly shut their mouths and decided to disappear.

Their conversation may cause disputes with the Duchy.

“. . . They’re gone.”

Rieta murmured a little, and she took a deep breath.

Of course, her stuffy heart still ached.

“Are you okay? Princess?”

The voice that had called to Noel a while ago sounded out from right behind Rieta.

A boy of her age with pretty silver hair was looking at Rieta with concern.

I’m fine.

Rieta was trying to answer that, but somehow it didn’t sound from her mouth.

One assumption came to mind.

The male protagonist of this novel had pretty silver hair.

There are many other people with silver hair besides the main character, but this is the first time she’s seen anyone who shines like an ocean full of sunlight.

So, Rieta pondered.

She wondered if the boy in front of her could be Hugh McLean, the male protagonist of the novel.

That Hugh McLean.

“Oh, I apologize. I intervened willfully. But . . .”

The silver-haired boy bowed his head.

“I don’t think you would enjoy such a story.”

The boy’s speech was a little slow, his pronunciation clear.

He seemed to care about the fact that Rieta may have trouble understanding.

He might have been influenced by the wrong language in front of the Princess.

“And I apologize for lying.”

“Lying?”

“I used the name of the Lord.”

“Oh, Noel.”

“That’s right. The Lord is not with me as of now.”

He used his wit to save Rieta from that situation.

“Thank you.”

“I, I didn’t mean to overhear that.”

“Nevertheless.”

“Oh, right.”

The boy raised his arms near his chest as if to introduce himself.

“I’m . . .”

Rieta pricked her ears and waited for the boy to say his name.

Is he really the male protagonist?

“Ah!”

But the boy did not say his name, and quickly straightened up his back as if he had remembered something.

“Please, please wait! Can you wait for forty seconds? Sorry. I’ll be back in just forty seconds!”

Forty seconds? There was no problem in waiting for such a short period of time, so Rieta nodded her head.

But why all of a sudden? Aren’t you trying to say your name? I doubt he’ll ask around because he forgot his name.

The boy turned around and left the greenhouse.

A few nobles who had entered the greenhouse looked at him curiously, as such unruly behavior did not suit a residence of the Imperial family.

Rieta had nothing to do, so she counted in her head.

When she had counted up to thirty-eight seconds, the boy returned back to the greenhouse gasping for breath.

Holding a single white flower.

“Did I keep you waiting? I’m sorry.”

He took his handkerchief from his chest, wrapped it around the flower, and politely held it out.

“I have heard that you should not pluck the flowers in the greenhouse. I brought this with the permission of the attendant, so don’t worry.”

He held out the flower again, and Rieta accepted it with a bewildered face.

Until then, she couldn’t figure out why he was so passionate about bringing flowers.

“I almost would have committed the rudeness of saying hello without flowers. Forgive me. I am Hugh McLean.”

He continued to bow down even after his greeting.

Rieta looked at his silver hair flowing forward with light, admiring it again.

He really is the male protagonist.

Though she thought she might be able to meet before the heroine appeared, it was surprising and even nice to meet him like this.
