Chapter 34: Mental Energy Form
Chapter 34: Mental Energy Form
Once he had completed his training montage, Compass Carburettor meditated, using part of the time to give himself mental inputs to reduce his resistance to Darlac. For the remainder of the duration, he focused on Mental Energy.
It seemed Ephemella watched his actions at least twenty times a day. And, every time she did, the starlight stream would appear from one spot in the wall. In other times, the starlight stream would emerge from any random parts of the room’s walls, depending based on where she was in the palace.
It seemed he was constantly on her mind. He was thankful for it though, since he was able to feel her emotional state concerning him. So, it was his gauge to determine the Queen’s stance on his matter.
As the days passed, her sense of worry seemed to be increasing. Though, he knew the cause. It was because Regriel was growing stronger. And when he received the report, Compass Carburettor flinched in shock because Regriel had already accumulated 40 Darlac.
At his present speed, Compass Carburettor was able to increase his Darlac by two per every three days. His speed of increasing Darlac continued to increase thanks to his body reducing instinctual resistance against it.
And, as he possessed a body equivalent to numerous athletes combined into one, his advantage began to show as the quantity of Darlac being converted from his intake of food continued to increase. At present, he was able to refill his 15 Darlac with a single meal.
Compass Carburettor focused, concentrating wholly on Mental Energy, forgetting everything else. Thanks to his Cognition (Level 9) and Five Senses (Level 10), he was aware of everything in and around him, understanding everything.
And, thanks to Intelligence (Level 7), he was able to ponder about everything he sensed at a deeper level while innumerous thoughts clashed in his mind, allowing for greater breakthroughs of thoughts and ideas.
Soon, he forgot the sensation of his physical body, only now perceiving the mysterious energy in his body. It was the part of the Money-Making System that had been turned into his. It seemed to be created using Mental Energy, for while sensing Mental Energy, he was also able to sense the System.
It was a form of starlight that outlined his figure. And at the core, condensed from the densest starlight was Anthozoa, his gun. It seemed that as long as the gun remained undamaged, there was a chance he wouldn’t lose any memories under any external effect.
The gun acted like the heart of his Mental Energy form as numerous nerves of sorts—dense streams of Mental Energy thin enough to look like nerves—travelled from it, connecting to different objects of sorts.
Among them, the biggest and brightest of the lot was his right arm. Compass Carburettor knew based on the memory surge—when he made Anthozoa his Personal Fragment—and what he sensed now that this right arm was the ‘Arms’ that had been displayed in his status window.
It was what would hold a System Fragment in the future—if he obtained one. Compass Carburettor then trailed in reverse, scanning the starlight nerve until he reached the gun. He focused on it, noticing that five thick buds were surrounding it, having the same girth and density as the starlight nerve connecting his only ‘Arms’.
Immediately, he understood just what it was, ‘So, I can have a maximum of 6 Arms? That means I can have a maximum of 6 System Fragments on me at a time. That’s great.’
‘Now, how do I grow them into an Arms?’ He thought, focusing on the other nerves. Each of them headed towards different parts of his body before connecting to various objects of sorts. Upon a count, he noticed that there were nine such objects.
And, they exactly conformed to the nine physique-related Skills he still retained in him.
[Physique: Health (Level 10), Strength (Level 10), Dexterity (Level 8), Stamina (Level 7), Intelligence (Level 7), Cognition (Level 9), Natural Recovery (Level 6), Five Senses (Level 10), Resting (Level 10)]
All the objects were divided into ten segments, as evidenced by the maximum of Level 10 to his Skills. And, based on the Skill level, the number of segments of the object was solid while the remainder were just transparent.
As he observed them, he determined which object conformed to what Skill of his.
[Health: Thermometer]
[Strength: Brick]
[Dexterity: Ring]
[Stamina: Battery Cylinder]
[Intelligence: Acorn]
[Cognition: Book]
[Natural Recovery: Jar]
[Five Senses: Flute]
[Resting: Pillow]
‘Why is Intelligence represented as an Acorn?’ He wondered, leaving aside its shape as he observed the overall starlight in his form. He then focused on the starlight streams emerging from various locations and pouring into him.
It was like he was a broken vase. On one side, starlight streamed into him. But on the other side, it leaked out of his form, exiting his body. ‘Wait a minute…if this works as I think, then…’
Compass Carburettor got excited as he focused on the exiting starlight streams, willing them to remain within his body. At the start, it was difficult. But as he concentrated further, the exiting starlight reduced.
But, as the inlet streams continued to supply starlight into his form, Compass Carburettor felt a headache as he felt it was getting harder and harder for him to control them all, and prevent them from leaving his form. Finally, he was unable to hold it in any longer as all the starlight he had stuffed in his form gushed out instantly, pushing him out of his concentration.
He slumped on the bed, gasping for air as he felt his heart thumping rapidly due to the overexertion. ‘How…do I control them?’
Just as he thought as such, he could hear the sounds of his heartbeat echoing in his ears. He placed his hand on his chest, feeling the vigorous thumping of his heart, suddenly obtaining an epiphany as he got up with a start, excited.
‘Right, the heart pumps the blood through the body. The arteries transport the blood into the organs from the heart while the veins transport the blood into the heart from the organs. This way, they create a closed circuit.’
