I Hate Systems

Chapter 55: Two System Fragments

Chapter 55: Two System Fragments

“Now, how would I refine these into System Fragments?” Compass Carburettor frowned, not having many leads in this department. He then thought of the way he created his Personal Fragment and the method through which he refined foreign Mental Energy into his.

He took out Anthozoa, his Personal Fragment and placed it above Regriel’s left arm, gently touching it as he noticed the part of the System in his arms beginning to slowly escape into the air. He positioned the gun’s nozzle accordingly, watching the stream of transparent substance—exiting the left arm—seep into his gun’s nozzle.

Suddenly, the gun whirred into life as Compass Carburettor felt a sharp drain in the Mental Energy saved up in his Mental Energy Form. The transparent substance was sucked into the gun within a couple of seconds, causing Regriel’s left hand to crumble into dust before it too was absorbed into the gun.

It was as if his hand hadn’t existed there in the first place. Compass Carburettor then did the same to Regriel’s right hand, watching it too get sucked into his gun similarly. He then experienced sharp pain in his head as his Mental Energy was getting sucked erratically, causing him to feel light-headedness as his brain whirred nonstop, generating as much Mental Energy as possible.

All the Mental Energy he had stored was being sucked into his gun as it began to interact with the part of Regriel’s system he had absorbed. He could hear numerous screams in his mind, noticing the figure of Regriel’s System appear all of a sudden.

It looked no different to the one he had seen in the System World. At present, it was struggling, wailing as it was attacked by a hail of bullets. And, when he looked at the source, he was shocked, for it was the Earth shooting the bullets at Regriel’s System.

As he watched the battle between the two entities take place in his mind, Fourth’s words resounded in him, allowing him to understand just what was happening, ‘Right, I was born on Earth. So, I’m part of it, affected by the laws existing on Earth. So, when I refined the Money-Making System’s body, I was using the laws of the Earth to attack and damage the laws that made up the Money-Making System. Since the laws of Earth were superior, I ended up as a victor.’

He then nodded in realisation, ‘So, if I try to refine a System whose laws surpass those that makeup Earth, then I would…lose? Wait, this is the functional makeup of a world we are talking about. Surely, they can’t be that weak, right?’

He then recalled how no System Slayer had killed a Grade 2 System, ‘Grade 2 Systems fall into the magical limit. So, are they superior to the laws governing Earth?’

‘I can only find out in the future.’ He sighed, watching the battle in his mind reach the climax. The Earth bombarded Regriel’s System with a torrent of bullets, riddling it with holes to the extent it was unable to move anymore, finally losing its sense of being.

Numerous chains then appeared from Earth, wrapping around the defeated System as a mysterious energy was channelled into it, moulding it like dough. A couple of hours later, two bullets were what remained of the process.

Compass Carburettor noticed that the bullets resembled what Anthozoa fired, rectangular in shape. The two bullets each seemed to be having their respective properties. The moment he focused on the first, a vast surge of information streamed into his mind, allowing him to learn everything about the System Fragment. ‘Body Resurgence, Level 2. It allows me to combust all the fat in my body to condense Darlac. This permanently increases my Darlac reserve by a large amount.’

“I see, so this is what he relied upon to burn all his fat and increase his Darlac reserves shortly.” He nodded, smiling.

Compass Carburettor then focused on the second System Fragment, absorbing the memory influx, understanding everything there was to know about it, nodding, ‘Slave Harem, Level 1. This allows me to enslave a woman. But, since this is only a System Fragment, its effect doesn’t last long. And the duration of the effect varies based on the willpower of the target. So, this is Regriel’s System, huh.’

“The Slave Harem System,” Compass Carburettor snorted, “Quite the disgusting ring it has.”

He then pulled up his stats, looking at the changes in it.

“This has been a fruitful harvest,” Compass Carburettor stretched his hand, relaxing a bit as he closed his eyes, noticing that Regriel and General Artica were already on their way towards Grenstan.

He then began to make his way towards Peckle City, returning to an inn they had booked. The two servants had already shifted their belongings to this place, beginning to pack everything carefully.

The moment Compass Carburettor entered, he smiled, flashing a thumbs up, “The first part of the plan is a success.”

“Amazing!” Fealta clapped while Caithy continued to pack their belongings. Soon after, once everything was packed, she motioned for Compass Carburettor to be seated, beginning to remove his makeup.

Once she had fully removed his makeup, she said, “Take a bath now, the smell is unbearable. Also, Her Majesty has issued us enough travel funds to reach the southern border of the Heroica Empire. Beyond that, we’ll be on our own.”

“I’m prepared,” Compass Carburettor nodded, “As to what my preparations are, I can’t say to you.”

“Like we had been commanded by the Queen, we won’t pry into it.” Caithy said, forcefully pushing him into the bathroom, “Don’t come out until all the stench has vanished. We’ll delay our journey if need be.”

“Haha, that won’t be necessary.” Compass Carburettor shut the door, exiting the bathroom after an hour, completely refreshed, wearing some normal clothes now.

They then carried their luggage and exited the inn, heading towards a nearby stable to buy a horse carriage, boarding it as Compass Carburettor sighed, anticipating the journey, ‘Now, onwards to the battleground where I’ll face a System head-on.’

‘Mohart Dungeon!’
