Chapter 22: The Blessed Sage [3]
"Noah Ashbourne," she said, her voice cutting through the quiet room.
"Can you explain the principle behind mana displacement in elemental fusion?"
The question was tough, even for a first-year student, and the room went silent as everyone turned to look at Noah.
The other students expected him to struggle, but to their surprise, Noah blinked, thought for a moment, and then calmly responded.
"Mana displacement in elemental fusion occurs when two opposing elements—like fire and water—are forced to coexist in a single spell.
The mana from each element repels the other, creating a neutral zone that stabilizes the spell and prevents it from collapsing."
Professor Thorne raised an eyebrow, clearly impressed.
"Correct, Noah. Well done."
She paused, a slight smile on her lips.
"But even though you're the Blessed Sage, I expect you to pay attention in class."
The students burst into laughter, but it was good-natured.
Noah just shrugged, not wanting to make a big deal out of it.
Professor Thorne waited for the room to quiet down before speaking again.
"Being the Blessed Sage comes with responsibilities, Noah—tasks that even some of us professors find challenging.
Keep that in mind as you continue your studies."
With that, she ended the class, leaving Noah to think about the weight of his new title.
'That I know...but I also know alot about not only the Academy but this world in general...'
Noah thought as he was momentarily brought back to reality by Maya.
Maya had been sitted next to him and by the looks of it, she had been writing alot on today's lesson.
'So much dedication.'
Noah thought.
That was the signal for them to leave the Tuition Cube.
The journey from the Tuition Cube, to the Town Centre and finally the Manors wa filled with regular glances at Noah.
Those who were present at the assembly knew who he was.
Although not everyone gave him the respect, most of them were nobles and prestigious family members.
"Sigh...I'll get used to this..."
Noah mumbled.
After Maya escorted Noah to his dorm room she couldn't stop but wonder and asked Noah.
"Why were you so phased out during the classes?"
"Are you feeling okay?"
"Something I can do?"
Noah smiled at Maya, her beautiful purple eyes glimmering in the lit room.
"No I'm okay...I'm just not a class person"
"I prefer teaching myself...don't worry I'll go through everything we learned today."
"Oh, okay...goodnight Noah."
Maya bluntly replied as she left.
To Noah the same responses were robotic, he was in a game after all.
But he couldn't shake the feeling that eveb though Maya wasn't a real character, to him she was alive in a way that he couldn't explain.
After taking a cold shower, Noah was sitted at the desk, pen in his mouth as he leaned and stared at the ceiling.
By now it was night time and he couldn't shake off a certain thought that kept crossing his mind.
"Shouldn't the first act have already began?"
Just as he said that there was a sudden ear defeaning scream from across the hallways.
There was commotion as Noah opened the door and looked out.
There were other people who had their doors open and were standing outside looking confused as ever.
But all that confusion dissappeared in an instant.
The walls were smeared with blood and infront of the guy that had let out a scream was a body that seemed lifeless.
The body was also drenched in blood.
People were gathering around.
Faces etched with fear, others almost vomiting.
"Someone seek help from outside!"
"Any healers around?"
"Here, though I'm just a beginner..."
"Whatever just check on him and see if he can receive any sort of treatment, close the wounds if possible..."
There was panic everywhere.
Noah made his way through the crowd as he reached the bloody body.
He kneeled and took hold of the arm.
"Everyone quiet, it's Ashbourne..."
"Will he be able to heal him?..."
"Do I look like I'd know that?..."
Then there was silence.
Noah felt the arm and finally spoke, "No pulse..."
At the same time there was another scream or multiple ones to be exact.
"Wait, that seems to be coming from the Starlight Manor..."
"The girls dorm?..."
"Just what the hell is happening?"
Noah went into his room and came out with a bed sheet which he used to cover the body.
Since it was white, it was painted in red as well.
"Carry and take him outside at the entrance, the maids will be here in a few minutes."
Noah instructed some students.
To his surprise they listened to him and did so.
"I don't expect you all to be calm after what has just happened but it's best to stay in your rooms and stay in until the higher authorities arrive."
Noah stated to the others.
'It looks like it has started...'
Noah thought as the system's screen flickered infront of him.
['First Act: Assassination Of Noble Blood At Ravenwood Manors' has began!]
