Chapter 119: Marksman rifle

Raphtalia Warrington, the second daughter of Duke Elijah Warrington, owned most of the estate in Talvar.

Being the second daughter, Raphtalia had always assisted her father with management, since her deadbeat brother had been no help to the family.

That was when Ha Joon picked up on her skill during his project to start a special department for his personal ideas.

She came out explaining how she felt it would be better if the soldiers had to climb the ranks before receiving a custom weapon specifically engineered for them.

This didn't just make the new recruits work hard in order to achieve a social standing with their own custom weapons, but it also helped reduce the cost of production since the demand wasn't all coming in at once.

She was exactly what he needed.

"So, where are they?" Ha Joon asked, his legs still crossed.

"Right, the parts. I tried using the drawings you sent and gave them to the blacksmiths. Honestly, I doubt they were able to get it down the way you wanted," Raphtalia spoke, waving her hand to one of the apprentices who was already walking in with a brown box.

The box was gently placed on the table, and the apprentice began to set the metal in the box on the table.

Each piece had different shapes and lengths, from handles to barrels.

"Just these?" Ha Joon's eyes were locked on the table.

"I'm very sorry, Your Majesty. It took them a week to get these materials. We weren't sure of the sizes from just the drawing," Raphtalia responded.

"I guess this will do for now. I expect they should be able to speed up the progress now that they've gotten the right size, correct?" he asked as he leaned forward.

"Yes, certainly," Raphtalia responded.

'Is His Majesty going to help her? I thought he said he wasn't going to interfere too much in the project so they could grow by themselves,' Yukio whispered to herself, observing as Ha Joon began to pick up the metal parts.

Weighing them in his hands, he uttered, "This part of the weapon shouldn't be fully made from metal. It can cause a lot of damage to the upper arm once the recoil kicks in…"

He shifted his gaze to the next parts, "The barrels look good enough. Use advanced metallurgy to create grooves inside the barrel, that way, the bullets can be stabilized."

Raphtalia wasted no time. As Ha Joon spoke, she began to jot everything down in her notebook.

'I think this should be good for now. At least the needed parts are available. Since they don't need triggers, the gun shouldn't be too complicated.'

—(Real Estate.)

Ha Joon activated his skill, allowing him to see the blueprint of the equipment he was trying to make like a hologram, hovering above the table.

[All needed parts are accounted for.]

—(Barrel)

—(Upper Receiver)

—(Lower Receiver)

—(Stock)

—(Magazine)

'Quick attachment was a good idea, compared to the initial 20+ parts that were made. Yosh, let's do this.'

He reached for the parts and began to assemble them.

They all watched in amazement as Ha Joon raised the long gun, a smile on his face as he spoke—

"You've really outdone yourself this time, Raphtalia. The parts are exactly the right size. Reduce the stock by half an inch, and you've got yourself a perfect marksman rifle."

A smile formed on Raphtalia's face. "T-Thank you, Your Majesty!"

"What's a marksman rifle?" Mordred suddenly asked.

"It's one of the inventions I came up with. Just think of it as a better and more reliable advancement from your regular arrows. It's good for long- and mid-range battles, very effective," Ha Joon replied, before smiling internally. 'Not like they know this is just stolen ideas from my former world, but who cares!!!'

"This is supposed to be an arrow? It looks like a bad sword," Mordred uttered, clearly not impressed by the shape of the weapon.

"Ahh, so you think." Ha Joon looked to the side, his eyes picking up on a vase.

He stationed the rifle and aimed it directly at the vase. "Normally, you need gunpowder for a rifle like this to work, but magical technology is far superior to technology… and even magic!"

Bam!

He poured his mana into the gun, and it fired with a blast.

The blue bullet charged forward, not only shattering the vase, but also leaving a huge hole in the wall, shocking the people on the other side.

Raphtalia and the others in the room were no exception.

"What… was that just now?" Yukio was the first to blurt out.

"Did that thing… just fire?" Mordred muttered too.

Ha Joon, with a terrified expression, uttered, 'It was loaded? She must have added the bullets before bringing it. I only wanted to show an example, I didn't expect the freaking thing to fire like that. That said…'

He looked at the gun. 'The power of this rifle is impressive. This should be able to push back enemies before they even get to Camelot… good.'

"Your Majesty… please let me test it as well." Raphtalia stretched her hand forward, drooling with intensity.

"Okay, calm down… you might kill someone if you're not careful, so no." Ha Joon replied with a deadpan look.

Mordred, on the other hand, couldn't keep her eyes off the rifle. Something that powerful was being created in Camelot—if people got their hands on it. But knowing Ha Joon, she had no doubt he must have already thought about it.

Ha Joon handed the rifle over to Raphtalia. "You know what to do. I'll be waiting to hear more from you, and please don't test the gun."

"Of course, Your Majesty, I'll gu- I'll gu-…" She paused after stuttering, her face looking to the ground before she smiled creepily at Ha Joon. "It's in safe hands, Your Majesty."

'At least try to make it believable. I don't know who is worse—this freaking weapon psycho, or my masochistic ward. Speaking of Sinex, I wonder how her mission is going…'
