Chapter 68
“My husband has no preferences! Ben, is this true? Does the Duke really have no tastes?”
Ben opened his stiff eyes.
After a few hours of overworking, his eyes were already tired.
This old body.
His blood circulation was not the same as before, so his face was pale due to the reduced blood flow.
Ben replied to Yelena, regretting that time was irreversible, “Yes, he doesn’t.”
“Why?”
Yelena started to become very flustered.
The second step to a successful relationship was to identify the partner’s preferences and hobbies.
For the second step, Yelena had spent the past few days consistently with her husband Kaywhin and had quite a few conversations.
And then the realization hit her.
Her husband had no tastes.
Her husband didn’t have what was commonly called ‘preferences’.
He didn’t particularly like anything, nor did he hate anything.
From food to people to things–it was in regards to everything.
Furthermore, it seemed like he had no hobbies either.
Until now, she thought her husband was stuck in his office every day because he was too busy with his work, but she discovered something after observing him carefully for the past few days.
Her husband seemed to have nothing but work.
No preferences, no interests.
In conclusion, there was nothing!
‘Are you even human?’
Yelena was beginning to suspect it.
In fact, could her husband actually be a stone?
He was a human-shaped stone that was roughly set to move and speak with the help of magical power.
‘It’s plausible.’
In the past, her husband’s chest and arm muscles–which she had touched by chance–were as firm as stone.
She wondered how a human body could be like that, but if it were because he was actually a stone, then that would explain everything.
Yelena seriously considered her ridiculous thoughts and then sighed.
It was shocking.
“Ben, give me your honest opinion. Can a person really have no preferences or hobbies?”
“I’m not sure. In any case, the master has neither. So I think it’s possible.”
“Think about it, Ben,” Yelena said seriously.
Truthfully, she didn’t find Ben to merely only complain about the situation.
“You’ve been with the Duke for a very long time now. You’re still serving him.”
“That’s right.”
“The Duke’s preferences that even he isn’t aware of… or something like that? Think about it very carefully. Whether he unconsciously chooses a certain color more often when selecting an item…”
“There’s none.”
“Did you even try to think about it? Just now, did you even make an effort to look back on the past years?”
“It’s the same in retrospect. The master I have watched over has never had any particular preferences.”
Yelena’s last hope was shattered.
She brooded over the scattering shards of her hope.
‘I’m in serious trouble.’
Her husband had no preferences–that caused a problem.
‘What about the third step?’
The third step to a successful relationship was to win the partner’s heart with a small gift tailored to their preferences.
‘…Do I have to give something as a gift?’
However, there was a difference in the meaning behind small gifts that matched the other person’s tastes and ordinary small gifts.
The former felt a little exquisite.
The latter was just something trifling.
‘In that case… why don’t I prepare something grand instead of something small?’
At that moment, Rosaline’s words suddenly came to mind.
“I’m telling you, don’t think about giving a grander and bigger gift to your partner.”
“…Why?”
“If you want to add burden and discomfort to your gift, then you can do so.”
That’s right.
“……Haa.”
Yelena became sullen. Then there was only one solution left.
‘I have no choice but to emphasize my sincerity.’
Yelena spoke to Ben.
“Ben, I have to go out, so prepare the carriage for me.”
Yelena came out to the shopping district to buy a present for her husband.
She said she would emphasize her sincerity, but Yelena had no intention of giving a gift that she made herself.
There were two reasons.
First, she thought it would still be a little too excessive at this stage.
Secondly… in fact, this was the real reason. Yelena was terrible with her hands.
‘If I were to make something…’
Usually, when a wife thought about a gift for her husband, they would think of something like an embroidered handkerchief.
Yelena’s sewing skills were the worst.
It wasn’t just sewing. In all the tasks that required a needle and a thread, Yelena always produced irreversible results.
Everyone shook their heads whenever they saw something born out of Yelena’s hand.
Including Yelena, herself.
‘I have to choose well.’
