Immortal Cultivator System

Chapter 84: System Evolution

Chapter 84: System Evolution

The situation with the Su clan and the Void's agents had reached Jian via the reports Silverfish had received. They had been planning the expedition when two members of the savage band came to report on the chaos. Silverfish had expected such a thing to happen, but Jian had been shocked to hear about the Su clan.

He knew Biyu had intervened as soon as heard about the legendary serial killer who fought against the enemies' leader. Of course she had to come in. The bizarre part was the fact that the fight ended with some sort of deal being concluded between Biyu and said leader.

No one had heard what the two had said, and as such Jian couldn't possibly know what this deal was about...But he had a bad feeling. Well, it wasn't like he had had a single good feeling ever since he came to this kingdom. It was crazy to think that their trip to this kingdom had brought many good things, but was overall a disaster. He could only hope the Li Zhang kingdom would be a much calmer place. Then again the Peizhi Kingdom was an unknown to them, so they couldn't know what would happen.

The Li Zhang Kingdom couldn't quite possibly be plunged into such chaos, except if Jian and his group were really cursed. But thinking about the Li Zhang Kingdom, Jian was reminded of how he still needed to get stronger for the tournament.

Silverfish considered him an ally as soon as the contract was signed and immediately gave him a little advice. He needed to get strong, not just climb the realms. Each realms would unlock new possibilities, the Qi core would get bigger and the cultivator would have a better control over the energy that travelled inside his body....However that wouldn't make anyone truly stronger. Per exemple while Jian was currently at the Mortal Realm, he was still a lot weaker than Jin Wang who wasn't even at said realm when Jian left. The key differences were the facts that Jin Wang actually had techniques to use and that he mastered his realm.

That was something that all great cultivators went through in their lives. One could simply fly through all the realms if they had the talent or the ressources. But to become strong, to actually reach the peak, one needed techniques to strike and the power that should go with those techniques.

The Qi Core realm was the beginner realm, there wasn't much to master in that realm. The Mortal Realm though could be mastered. But to do that, Jian first needed to get better at feeling his Qi Pool. You couldn't quite use your Qi effectively if you couldn't feel all of it.

The Qi Pool often called the Spiritual Sea was really important to a cultivator and could lead to all sorts of complications if it wasn't managed well. If the flow of Qi in it wasn't maintained to a good level, a cultivator could end up being unable to even use Qi at all.

Balance and input were vital to Cutivators. At all times, one needed to be at peace and able to draw on the Qi that was present all around them, in the air, the plants, the ground itself.

And Silverfish just so happened to know a great way to maintain your Qi Pool at the perfect level. However before he could even explain it to Jian, the boy was assaulted by a violent headache.

He sat back down on his chair while Silverfish explained the current plan he had for the expedition to Fang who hadn't heard about it. While Fang looked at his leader like he had gone mad, Jian heard a voice in his head.

A voice he was excited to hear once again.

[ The System's Evolution has been completed. The System has reach the Second State of Evolution ! ]

[ New Menus were added: Quests and Factions ]

[ The analysis of the System is now much more precise and can give new details. The system has uncovered more of it's lost memories, as such new data has been added to the database. ]

[.....Hello User. ]

'Hello. Next time...Maybe you could give me a freaking warning !' Jian yelled in his head. He really wanted to be angry at the system, but he was too excited to care. The Quests were really something he had been waiting for and that new faction menu sounded good. The only bad thing was the fact that the evolution came with the augmentation of the prices for the lottery and now he had to sell better materials to the system to get lottery rolls. But someone with his luck couldn't depend on the lottery to survive and get stronger. Especially since he was a cultivator. He could just...Cultivate instead of spending his damn life grabbing materials and doing lottery rolls.

[ I am deeply User. Since most of my memories had been sealed away, I also had no idea as to what the evolution would be like. Although it seems like I'll need to go around your own memories to discover what happened whilst I was evolving. This doesn't matter though. I will now explain how the new menus work. ]

'Well...You have my attention, system.' Jian said, tuning out the outside world as he focused on the system.

[ Alright. We will start with the Quest menu. It is very simply. Me and Mara will be able to give you quests. If other people gives you tasks to accomplish, we might decide to make those into quests and give you rewards. However I have limitations when it comes to that. Even though I wish I could do it, I cannot just give you absurd rewards for easy tasks, and I cannot make everything into quests. It has to follow a logic. As such I decided to give the quests ranks. Those ranks will the same as those tiers you have seen sometimes. My memories on those are still sealed so I don't know what they are, but I can still follow basic ranks. As such the ranks go from Tier 1 to 10, the other tiers I don't think I'll use. Simply because I don't think you'll get a quest so difficult it would belong to those tiers. ]

'Yeah, so basically higher tier means better rewards but also bigger risks. It's only logical. But what about the rewards ? What will they be like ? I mean the risks are obvious, death and all that, but the rewards though ?'

[ Greedy as always I see, very well. The rewards can be everything from the lottery as well as stat points. However stat points still haven't been unlocked, so while you'll receive some, you won't be able to use them...Which is funny because it means that once you'll unlock the possibility to spend those points....You'll become much stronger in an instant. I look forward to that. Anyway the Quests will give you random rewards. Basically it's like using the lottery, except you know in advance what you'll get and you actually have to work for the rewards. Of course you won't get a law realm reward for a tier 1 quest, that would be quite weird...Although I wish I could do just that. Rules are annoying I tell you. Well that was it for the Quests, now....The Factions. ]

'....Yeeeaaah.....I'm just gonna act like I understood everything. I'm gonna need to do some quests before I really understand how they work, but it should be good. ' Jian thought. Meanwhile, Fang was yelling at Silverfish and shaking him around while the small leader just laughed.

[ The Faction menu won't be too important for now. It just allows you to see how the various factions you encounter sees you. However I have discovered that I can give you rewards if you reach new stages of relationship with those factions. Rewards comes with penalties though. If a faction sees you badly, I'll have to give you penalties based on that. ]

' Penalties ? Like what, have a faction attack me ? You can do that type of thing ?'

[ Well apparently I can. I knew my creator was strong, but it seemed I had no idea just how strong he was. But do not worry, you'll have to do some really bad things before you can reach a level of relationship that gives out truly dangerous penalties. The basic penalties are just hinderances, not real problems. The rewards though are something you can look forward too, I tell you that. So make sure to have good relationships. Anyway, here are the current factions that are registered in the menu. ]

Jian recoiled back as he saw the list appear right in front of me. He saw a lot of shadowy factions. They were all black and had question marks on them, he could only guess they were factions that didn't have an opinion on him , didn't know him...Or maybe factions the system couldn't analyze or something like that. He didn't really have an explanation for that.

And asking the system about it didn't help, since the system itself didn't know.

[ Savage Band (Little Rats): +1

Peizhi's Royal Family: + 2

Sea Sword Sect: 0

Li Zhang's Royal Family: +1

Zhao Warriors Tribes: -1

Akaryuu Knight Order: +1

Poisonous Raja Sect:+5

Flies: 0

Wukong Imperial Family: +2 ]

[ I wish to point out that rewards and penalties are given the first time you reach a stage in relationship. And since all those relationship start at the current stages you have seen, the previous stages do not count. Per exemple you'll receive the plus five stage reward for the Raja sect, but you won't receive the rewards for the previous stages that were plus four, three, two and one. I will now give out the rewards and penalties. ]

The system was too absorbed in it's explanation to hear it, but Jian was internally laughing like a villain. This was music to his ears, especially since only one of the factions disliked him.

[ Penalty for the Minus One Stage with the Zhao Warriors Tribes: Each member of the tribes will have a 50% chance of recognizing you on the spot. Their reaction will depend on their views of you, but most of them will instantly know who you are. ]

It was bad. Truly bad. He could only imagine what the next penalties could be. But this really hurt. Had it been for another faction, he wouldn't have cared. However being recognized instantly by almost all of the members of a group who had hundred of thousands of warriors spread around this part of the continent truly wasn't a good news to Jian.

But the rewards were next. And they were about put Jian in a good mood for at least a month. He was sure of that.

[ And now, the rewards....]
