Chapter 14: Where This Road Shall Lead Us
Chapter 14: Where This Road Shall Lead Us
{Perhaps, I may have loved you in numberless forms, numberless times, in life after life, in age after age forever...Maybe we were, after all, lovers from past life?}
----X
Without wasting any time, I was on my way back to the sect.
The uphill journey was pretty smooth. Within a couple of hours, I managed to reach my destination.
I still carried the token of being the sect's general disciple so getting inside was not much of an issue.
I don't know if it was fate or my luck?
On my way to Xenia's cave, I met Quanzhi...
Quanzhi seemed to be in a grumpy mood. She was quick to notice my presence.
"Shenshah", like a bird rushing to her nest, she ran to me.
"Shenshah, did you think about what I said?... And plans to once again come back and cultivate in the sect?"
-Her face was filled with anticipation.
The thought that her crush will be once again next to her sent various butterflies fluttering in her Stomach.
I knew she had misunderstood. "Sorry, but I came to visit Xenia."
"I wanted to talk to her."
-Hearing my words, her excitement turned to dejection as She realized she was too fast to overthink.
She felt embarrassed....
'What reason does he have to come back?'
He had already explained to her his future dream of living happily with his family the previous Day!'
"Did you come from Xenia's cave?"
Upon hearing my question, Quanzhi nodded.
"Yes, after coming back yesterday, I investigated your matter!" -Quanzhi's voice became heavier.
"My matter?"
"Yes, the matter of you sending us your marriage invitations but we not receiving them!"
"Oh, so Who was the culprit?"
-I was also a little curious about who was the one who played tricks in the dark.
Quanzhi lifted her head,
There were already some tears flowing down her cheeks but this time she didn't run away.
"Shenshah, it was Sect-Master."
"From the messenger, I got the news that he successfully delivered your marriage invitations to the Sect-Master."
Seeing my puzzled face, Quanzhi smiled wryly as if she had expected such a reaction.
"Then I went to the Sect-Master to inquire further." "Then....."
"....Then she got angry and scolded me- saying not to have any future contact with you."
"She said since...Now, Shenshah no longer lives in the sect and nor cultivates, he is not much different from a mortal."
"And we cultivators must not have any contact with mortals lest we will suffer from heart demons."
"She said- Shenshah is a failed disciple whose mind is filled with lustful thoughts to marry many girls and start a big family, his head is too preoccupied with worldly desires. That's the reason he failed to break through and even suffered a Qi-Deviation."
"I wanted to refute her but her voice was unquestionable. It was difficult for me to even lift-up my head under her aura. All I could do was listen obediently."
-Quanzhi spoke aggrievedly.
"It's okay, she didn't have any expectations from me, to begin with."
"Let me guess you must have gone to Xenia to cry about this thing."
"Hmm!"
-She nodded meekly at my remarks.
Maybe she still hadn't forgotten what happened at his home the previous day, Quanzhi still found herself getting a cold-feet while meeting Shenshah's gaze.
She wanted to avoid him, otherwise, her heart would be turbulent. Thus, she once again decided to escape~
"Shenshah! You go and talk to Xenia. She will feel better after seeing you."
-After speaking her words, she started walking away in the other direction.
----X
Inside her cave, Xenia was lying on her bed. She had been very depressed lately, furthermore, Quanzhi came to her in the morning and
told her that yesterday, she met Shenshah alone.
She wanted to pout,
Why didn't she take her along?.. but then she saw the clutches for her broken legs, lying beside the bed.
She was afraid to see Shenshah, despite his warnings they went ahead with the task without him..In the end, she had to pay for her righteousness~
A proud girl who would have been a core disciple in the future.....Now can't even stand properly without the help of these clutches! She
didn't want him to see such a miserable side of hers.
Like Quanzhi, she too was furious at their sect master for tearing and burning off Shenshah's marriage invitation but with their current strength, they could do nothing.
And, when she heard about him expecting his first child, her heart, just like a jar of glass, broke into countless shards.
Little did she know, the boy she was thinking about was already walking towards her...
