Chapter 89: What Hides Beneath The Curtains

****

Meanwhile, in a dimly lit area underneath the Fire Nation Royal Castle.

"...They're still alive…" muttered a man with long black hair, his voice emulating the immense amount of frustration bubbling up within him.

"Tch, that useless Emperor! Can't do a single goddamn thing right!"

Shouting in a crazed rave, a beautiful woman materialized right beside the man. During which, her aura nearly caused the foundations of the castle to shake.

"Calm down, my dear. You know how these things go—always unforeseen circumstances and unknown variables. Even if Lucifer and Li Yan are still alive after the assassination attempt, we can always command the Emperor to send out even stronger killers. Either way, our breakthroughs will happen. We just need to trust the process."

Attenuating to his wife, the handsome, valiant-like man made sure to transmit orders to those useless things up above.

Upon receiving the response he wanted, the man pulled back the woman's hair and said, "There is no need to fret, my love. The Emperor has learned of this folly and has thus sent out the strongest forces in the Fire Nation: the Fire Brigaders."

Listening to her husband's words, the woman calmed down a bit. After which, her aura settled down, and she pulled the man to a large, lofty bed. "If that bunch is being sent out to accomplish this, then the death of our children is all but guaranteed. So, why don't we have a little fun to celebrate the occasion~?

That thing you wanted to try; we can do it right here and now~" whispering into her husband's ears, Lady Mu seductively stripped herself down.

"Ho~?"

Seeing his wife throw herself at him, Lord Xiao spared no further hesitation. Jumping into bed with Lady Mu, the both of them 'celebrated' the grand occasion.

In the middle of fuck knows where, Lucifer and Li Yan were doing their own things in the Nature Dome. Slowly, their new home inched ever further into the Water Nation's home territory.

Although this would typically be a terrible thing for any sane person, Lucifer was too busy obsessing over loot to care about his sanity.

WAAA!

With the unleashment of another wave of Qi from Lucifer's chiseled figure, his cultivation made a breakthrough into the Half-Step Core Formation Realm!

A Core was beginning to form inside his Dantian Space, which meant that it wouldn't be long before a full breakthrough into the Core Formation Realm arrived.

However, with his strength now nearing the peak of the Middle Nascent Soul Realm, he figured it was about damn time to start killing some more powerful do-gooders!

Luckily for him, there just so happened to be some do-gooders coming right to his doorsteps…

Step. Step. Step.

Walking through a battlefield rife with corpses and bloody scenes, eight figures in blue armor looked toward where they originally felt a disturbance.

"Hmm… It does appear that an unknown existence has come into the Water Nation. And from the looks of it, this one has decided to fully make himself at home."

Being the first to stop in his tracks, the Captain of the Fourth Scouting Water Squadron took out a pair of magic binoculars and honed in on what looked like a walking birdhouse.

"Is it confirmed to be an enemy? Or maybe a spy?" Inquired a different blue-armored man, his body approaching the spot right next to his captain.

"Another secret enemy attack? Why are there so many of these damn events as of late!?"

Shouting with a more temperamental demeanor, the third in command walked up to his superiors.

With clenched teeth and a pissed-off look on his face, he was clearly not the least bit happy about being assigned to yet another shitty mission.

"No need to make such a fuss, Fen Xun. As far as we know, this is just another case of a wandering merchant or a stray warrior." Lecturing his third in command, the Captain put even more focus on the walking birdhouse in the distance.

"Hmm… I think it's time that we make our move," commented the second in command, his eyes following those of his superior.

"Yes, it is."

Following the utterance of these three words, the captain vanished from atop a mountain of bodies. Not long after, the rest of his squadron tagged right behind him.

FWIP!

Upon making it to a location not even a few hundred meters away from the birdhouse, they snuck around the backside of the constantly moving structure. Seeing that there was a small entrance in the area above the left leg, they leapt up into it.

Discreetly entering the odd structure, they were immediately greeted with an unexpected face.

"!!!" "!!!" "!!!"

The Captain and the rest of his Squadron instantly went on guard. Then, without question, they all sped toward the small black-haired figure. Grabbing her and covering her mouth, they assumed they were in the clear.

Lost in their own complacency, they failed to notice the bright purple light emanating from the goth girl. Much to their horror, the light blasted outward in intensity, pushing them back!

"What the hell!?"

"What is that!?"

The Water Nation Scout Squadron was face-to-face with a massive, swirling purple serpent!

Not knowing what had happened for such a monstrosity to be conjured, they figured the best course of action would be to kill the emotionless girl and hope the serpent went away. So, without caring about the fact that she was a little kid, they all moved toward her with the intent to kill!

SHING! SHING!

Dozens of weapons arcs spread across the interior of the birdhouse's Southern Entrance, all aiming to swiftly take care of the unknown little kid!

"Sorry, but you have to die!" The Captain bellowed underneath his breath, his longsword already going in for the kill.

However, completely out of everyone's expectations, the little girl simply stared at the human worms. Then, with another activation of a Late Sky Rank Formation, she summoned a different purple serpent.

Waving her hand downward, the two serpents shot out from behind her figure. Devouring even the air itself, their gaping mouths approached the Water Nation Squadron at a speed hundreds of times that of sound!

"How the hell is this possible!? What is this kid!? Is she some sort of ancient monster that has taken on the form of a small child to torment us!?" Backflipping away from the two massive serpents, the Captain's attack was interrupted, and his momentum was put on hold.

"This girl must be the one who created this place! She is the one we have to kill!" shouted the Second In Command. His aura climbed up in intensity, whereas his hand was on the verge of taking his katana and slashing out with everything he had!

"Damn it! This was supposed to be an incognito scouting mission with minimal risk! How the hell did it turn out like this!? The aura reader's said there were no other living creatures inside this structure! At most, there were just going to be a few security golems!"

Like his superiors, the Third In Command also readied his weapon. With a spear in the thrusting position, he was going to lunge at the second serpent and take off its head!

The same level of fighting spirit was present in the rest of the Scouting Party. However, for Li Yan, none of their gusto truly mattered a single bit.

After all, they invaded the home of Big Bro…

So naturally, they would… die.

"Useless, so useless." Uttering these detached words, Li Yan fully powered up the two Late-Sky Rank Formations. With overwhelming force, their power increased a hundredfold!

OOOM!

The birdhouse violently shook underneath the might of a single six-year-old girl!

"!!!" "!!!" "!!!"

Caution and weariness overtook the previous confidence present in the expressions of the Water Scout Squadron. Then, without the chance to resist, the two enormous serpents advanced their approach by a dozen times the previous speed!

"What the fu-" Before the headstrong Third-In-Command could get out his exclamation, a serpent's mouth swallowed him whole.

Quickly and efficiently, he was dissolved in the stomach of the serpent.

With his cultivation essence being set to the side for big bro, Li Yan also made sure to leave the Spiritual Ring untouched.

"Big brother likes shiny things… Always keep the shiny things, Umu."

After spending so much time with her brother, Li Yan seemed to have taken on a number of his peculiar traits.

But in spite of her increased unusualness, the screams of the various Water Nation Scouts forcibly took her out of her reverie.

"Why so annoying…?" She asked.

A small pout formed on her adorable facial features as she waved her a little more, trying to tell the serpents to kill dem faster than dis.

"Stop the screaming… Annoying…"

"Ahhh!!! Help me!"

"Please!! It hurts!! If anyone can hear us, we are in the trap of an ancient witch!! Please help!!!"

Hearing what the Second In Command had to say about her appearance, Li Yan grumbled even more. "Not Witch… You stupid," she said. Then, with even greater irritation, she waved her small hands around a few more times, causing the serpents to do donuts in the massive birdhouse. Chomping up and devouring anybody in sight, there eventually came a point where no more annoyances were left...
