Infinite Potential System

Chapter 216: Second Mythic

William looked through the System Panel and eliminated the Talents that he didn't plan to upgrade.

I will probably get a Weapons Master Talent of some sort in the future, so there's no point upgrading those unless I want to waste Points, and upgrading my Magic wouldn't make much sense right now when I'm keeping a low-profile.

I could raise Alchemy to S-Rank, but let's wait until I'm back in the Ruins for that. The other Trade Talents can also wait.

The Rare and Epic Passive Talents are too expensive, and I don't need to upgrade my Stealth again.

As for buying another Companion Beast, I'm in the middle of the City, so a random Magical Beast appearing wouldn't be good for me. I already have Uri and Atticus anyway.

That leaves me with my resistances and the Talent Shop. I'll put half into both.

William opened up the Talent Shop first and checked the prices. For one random Weapon Talent, it would cost 180 Potential Points and each purchase would increase the price by ten.

System, buy as many Weapon Talents as I can with 2500 Potential Points.

He made sure his order was very specific so the System wouldn't misunderstand.

William gained the same experience with the various Weapon Talents as he had before, instantly learning how each weapon functioned and when best to use them. As they upgraded automatically to Epic Talents, William's understanding further increased.

William lost his cool when he saw the list of System Messages. He knew that some of his Weapon Talents would merge, but he didn't expect to fully exhaust the System's list of weapons in its shop.

What about brass knuckles, and nunchaku, and scepters, and...I can't think of anything else but I know there are more weapons out there! Like the Khopesh, which was used by the ancient Egyptians!

-Many other weapons fall under another category. When you merge your other Talents, this information will be provided to you. Additionally, weapons that don't exist in this world are not included.

William understood. The System must have simplified the number of weapon-related Talents due to the sheer number. He also now understood why it hadn't included guns in the list of ranged weapons before, since they didn't exist here.

Someone even uses a trident in this World? Interesting...I wonder what happens if I "invent" guns?

-Nothing.

Damn.

William stopped thinking about this and looked at his Weapon Talents. If he wanted to raise all of them to the same rank, he needed them all at A-Rank, with the Ranged Weapons Master Talent. He started with upgrading the Fists from B to A-Rank with 250 Points.

Pushing the other 3 Weapons Master Talents from D to A-Rank cost a total of 4800 Potential Points, which was past what William wanted to spend initially, but he felt it wouldn't hurt.

-Talent Upgraded: Ranged Weapons Master, Blunt Weapons Master, Pointed Weapons Master, Bladed Weapons Master, and Fists Talents have merged. All associated lower-ranked Talents have been removed.

-Talent Unlocked: Weapons Master

-Unlocked your first Mythic Weapon Talent: +1000 PP

The knowledge of hundreds of different weapons instantly filled his brain. Even with the SS-Rank Mind Talent, William felt an intense headache that made him close his eyes in pain. Instead of just telling William how each weapon worked, he was also shown.

The moment his eyes closed, William's consciousness was pulled into a simulation much like the Arrays and other Trade Talents when they reached a high enough Rank.

Hundreds of years passed in the blink of an eye while William's simulated self performed many complicated techniques with swords, spears, bows, and many other weapons.

Not only did William learn more about the Weapon Talents that he had purchased, but there were also simulations related to Talents he hadn't gained before. At one point, he even learned how to use a shield in ways he didn't think possible.

The simulation ended, the experience entering the back of his mind and fleeting away as if it was just a dream. William now felt like he could perform any weapon technique he wanted, at any point in time, no matter how complicated. As long as he had the stamina, William would be unstoppable in the same rank with the same weapon.

That's my second Mythic Talent, nice! William exclaimed in his mind. He felt that his combat power had greatly increased, having gained hundreds of years of battle experience as a side-effect of the simulation.

The first Mythic Talent was his Order Affinity, which he didn't dare to upgrade until the foreboding feeling went away. Now that he had a second Mythic Talent, and it was related to weapons as well, William was very tempted to upgrade it.

There was only one problem with William's plan.

———

Weapons:

-Mythic:

--Weapons Master: A (100000PP to next rank)

———

"One hundred thousand Points?!?" William yelled out in surprise, loud enough for even his neighbors to hear in the other room.

A loud knocking on the wall made William shut himself up, but he still couldn't believe his eyes. Even if he finished the impossible Quest given by the System, he would only be halfway to upgrading the Mythic Talent to S-Rank.

With roughly eleven thousand Potential Points left, William abandoned his idea of upgrading his resistances. Instead, he spent the remainder of the night forging many Starmetal weapons that would fill the gaps in his Array Puppets' combat power.

By the night's end, William had created over a dozen weapons and used up 36 Starmetal Ore. Combined with the 35 he had used in the past month or so, William still had 92 left. That being said, he was going through Starmetal quite quickly, and he didn't know how difficult it would be to acquire more.

Master seems to have plenty though; I wonder why people go so crazy over it outside the Ruins. Maybe it was common during Master's time, but now it's rare?

It was the only explanation that William could think of without wasting Potential Points on the System. He packed up his things and checked out of the hotel, making sure he hadn't damaged the room first.
