I've Become the King of Villains in the Game

Chapter 92 Moonlit Waltz

Young Master of the Silver Dragon Trade Association?

This identity of Noah was unknown to Chen Lun.

He suddenly thought of Rosa whom he had met at the port black market, and wondered if there was any connection between the two...

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Jack, hee hee."

Introduced by Walsh, Noah reluctantly put down his silverware and, bowing his head, extended his hand to Chen Lun. His face bore a shy smile, with traces of cream still lingering on his lips.

"The pleasure is mine, Mr. Noah."

Chen Lun shook his hand politely.

Walsh looked around, then pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and on tiptoe, wiped the cream from Noah's mouth. Noah scratched the back of his head and sheepishly said thank you.

"Oh—! Happy Birthday!"

At that moment, the guests began to cheer.

Chen Lun looked over, only to see Rebecca making a wish with her eyes closed, surrounded by people, and blowing out the candles. Soon after, Viscount Pompey cut the cake, which the maids then distributed to the guests, celebrating together.

Not long afterwards, the mealtime concluded.

"Up next is the dance, everyone please enjoy the wonderful time."

After Viscount Pompey spoke, the maids cleared the dining tables, leaving a spacious drawing room. A small orchestra specially invited for the occasion took their seats on the middle platform—a pianist, violinists, a drummer, and other orchestral musicians all found their spots.

The crisp piano notes sounded, closely followed by the melodious violin.

At this point, guests paired up with their dance partners and stepped into the center of the living room, dancing to the music. Young men and women also formed pairs, laughing as they joined the dance floor.

Rebecca danced a dance with her father, Viscount Pompey.

"Happy Birthday, Rebecca... I'm old, just danced a few minutes and I'm already a bit tired,"

Viscount Pompey joked.

"Thank you, Dad, you're still young."

Rebecca giggled.

Viscount Pompey, leading Rebecca away from the dance floor, was met by his wife. He released Rebecca's hand, taking his wife's hand instead, and then scanned the surroundings, where many noble youths and other men were eager to approach.

"Oh, it seems our daughter is quite popular."

Viscount Pompey's wife said with a smile.

"It's now time for you young people, go ahead, Rebecca."

Viscount Pompey patted Rebecca's shoulder, the latter nodding shyly.

After Viscount Pompey and his wife stepped onto the dance floor, other young men flocked towards Rebecca, preparing to invite her to dance. However, a significant portion of them, upon seeing Alvin, chose to back away.

Another portion of noble sons, having been greeted, gave up the chance to dance with Viscount Pompey's daughter to Alvin.

Alvin then, under everyone's watch, was first to approach Rebecca, elegantly bowing and holding out his hand.

"Miss Rebecca, may I have the pleasure of this dance with you?"

Rebecca looked at the young man before her, knowing he was Lawson's nephew Alvin, but she wasn't interested and politely shook her head.

"Thank you, I already have a dance partner, I'm sorry Mr. Alvin."

Rebecca turned and walked away without looking back, leaving Alvin frozen in place.

"Alvin got rejected?!"

The others were taken aback, not expecting Rebecca to reject Alvin so decisively.

Suddenly, Rebecca walked straight up to a mysterious black-haired young man, lifted her skirt slightly, and bashfully looked down.

"Mr. Jack, would you like to dance with Rebecca...?"

Her voice was uncertain, more nervous than she had ever been.

Connie glanced at the viscount's daughter in front of her; it was the first time she had seen Rebecca.

It turned out Miss Rebecca was also quite beautiful, truly worthy of a noblewoman, graceful and polite.

She then looked at Miss Floey beside her, only to find her pursing her lips slightly, seeming somewhat displeased.

"Of course, Miss Rebecca."

Chen Lun took the hand that Rebecca had offered.

"Your leg injury has healed, and our coaching sessions are almost over, so let this dance tonight be a brief farewell."

Upon hearing this, Rebecca suddenly felt a tightness in her heart, followed by a sense of inexplicable loss.

All her initial joy turned into emptiness and sadness.

"Hmm… hmm."

Rebecca hummed twice through her small nose. Explore more at empireNôv(el)B\\jnn

Chen Lun pretended not to see the sadness on her face and smilingly led her to the dance floor.

"Today is your birthday, Miss Rebecca, be happy."

The band's tune shifted to the next, slowing down to a piano solo.

Ding-dong, ding-dong…

"Even if I am no longer your teacher, we are still friends."

Chen Lun held her hand, guiding her movements, and whispered softly.

"Smile, Rebecca."

Rebecca was suddenly startled; this was the first time Mr. Jack had called her by her first name.

She looked up to see Mr. Jack's smiling face, and couldn't help but feel his infectious charm, her lips curving into a slight smile.

Ding-dong!

The piano struck a forte.

Immediately the rhythm slowly picked up, with the deep tones of the cello joining in accompaniment.

Rebecca and Chen Lun's dance steps moved in time with the tight drumbeats.

For some reason, the eyes of everyone around the dance floor were all focused on the two of them, as if they were the natural protagonists. Rebecca's beauty, the young man's upright stature, and their respective temperaments melded together with the waltz.

As the dance approached its end, Chen Lun took out a small gift box and quietly handed it to Rebecca.

"Happy birthday, Rebecca, this is a gift from your teacher."

Rebecca only felt a small box being added into her hand.

Her face showed surprise, and she gently opened it, finding inside a delicate silver snake earring. The earring was simple, but its scales were finely crafted, and at the head of the snake, a green letter "J" was engraved.

"Thank you! Mr. Jack, I really like it…!"

Rebecca couldn't resist taking out the silver snake earring and eagerly put it on her ear, adding a touch of mysterious allure with a hint of silver.

"I'm glad you like it."

Chen Lun smiled.

This silver snake earring was the ornament Connie had personally crafted the previous night.

He planned to create a set of tokens belonging to his own, serving as an identification for the team. Though only symbolic, they held a deeper meaning.

For example, the silver snake earring given to Rebecca now shows no apparent function, but in the future, it might serve as a means to protect her.

If Chen Lun didn't even have that much confidence, he could hardly consider himself a member of the "transmigrator army".

After the ball.

The dinner also came to an end.

Viscount Pompey and his wife stood at the door, seeing off the guests, as Walsh followed young master Noah to Chen Lun's side.

"Mr. Jack, we should go out together sometime,"

Round-bodied Noah was somewhat shy, but still, encouraged by Walsh, he extended the invitation to Chen Lun.

"Of course, Mr. Noah."

Chen Lun took off his hat and spoke softly.

Noah bade him farewell and soon left with Walsh.

Chen Lun looked deeply at his retreating figure.

From the evening's festivities, it was evident that others were not very keen on interacting with Noah, despite his respectable status, his appearance was too unattractive. The self-proclaimed elegant nobles were unwilling to befriend such a person.

Connie and Floey stood silently to the side.

The entire banquet seemed unrelated to them.

Connie felt somewhat disheartened, as not a single man had approached her. She knew it was because she was not very beautiful, with freckles on her face and being a powerless, background-less girl from the Outer City District.

She silently glanced at Miss Floey.

During the time Mr. Jack and Miss Rebecca danced, she noticed that Miss Floey's mood was off. Although several men had invited Miss Floey to dance, she had politely declined them all, her tone and demeanor not as gentle as before, but rather too cold.

"Why is Miss Floey unhappy?"

Connie wondered to herself.

She began to recall past events, and it seemed that every time she mentioned Miss Rebecca, Miss Floey would inadvertently interrupt her.

It was like she could not bear to see Mr. Jack close to other women.

A guess popped into Connie's mind; she hesitated, then prepared to ask aloud.

"He and I... are not biological siblings, Connie. I used to live in darkness and pain until he saved me. He isn't a brother, but he's more than a brother to me,"

Floey seemed to know what Connie was about to ask and spoke first.

Her voice was still ethereal but her tone was not as calm.

Connie had an epiphany.

Perhaps, possibly…. Floey was jealous.

The three of them rode the family carriage back to Jack's estate.

Floey was somewhat silent on the way.

Connie started to speak several times but then stopped, looked at Miss Floey beside her, then at Mr. Jack opposite her, and eventually resigned herself.

This surprised Chen Lun.

As the three were about to step through the villa's door, Chen Lun suddenly stopped.

"Sorry, Floey, it's not that I didn't want to dance with you at the ball…"

A smile appeared on his face.

"It's just that I don't like such settings. I think the best stage is here under the moonlight, just the two of us."

Floey was slightly taken aback.

Connie also covered her mouth.

Chen Lun took off his hat, extended his hand earnestly, and struck a proper inviting pose.

"Miss Floey, would you like to dance with me?"

Thump, thump!

Floey's heart skipped a beat.

She pursed her lips and was silent for a while.

Then she gently picked up her skirt and performed a curtsy.

"I would be delighted, sir."

Floey extended her hand, placing it in Chen Lun's palm.

Connie held her breath, watching as Mr. Jack led Miss Floey around the estate ground, gracefully spinning together.

Purple Moon hung high, casting down its tender glow.

A lively harmonica melody, originating from somewhere, subtly floated into the estate, accompanying the two under the moonlight.

Floey found herself in a cheerful mood, following his rhythm, dancing gracefully.

Her lips slightly upturned, her heart raced.

The adopted little white cat Biebu leaped into their dance circle, curiously following at their feet, jumping around.

Hands touching, it felt like the slowest moment in the world, a moment where time halted, much like a half-painted amber under the starry sky.

On tiptoes, it was the moment her heart beat fastest, the tune syncing beautifully with it, writing a poem of the pair under the moon.

This scene was deeply etched into Connie's heart.

"Perhaps Miss Floey and Mr. Jack are indeed a better match."

She thought to herself.

The moonlit waltz ended.

Floey's cheeks were slightly flushed as she once again curtsied to Chen Lun.

In a corner of the estate, a blonde young man put down his harmonica, chuckled softly, and slowly walked away.

"I'm sorry, I've never danced before…"

Floey said.

"It doesn't matter, this was a wonderful experience, wasn't it?"

Chen Lun said.

The three entered the villa, and Floey returned to her room.

Her face still flushed, she walked straight to the window and looked up at the Purple Moon.

"You can't die yet, Floey…"

Floey murmured.

She raised her hand, feeling the lingering warmth from holding hands, yet from her mouth and eyes, unconstrainable fresh blood began to seep.
