Chapter 34 - Afraid Of Losing Her Greatest Friend
Brione's face crumpled and she begrudgingly got out to the pool and walked towards the pool chair to put on her robe without bothering to look in Cedric's direction. She just wanted to get away from here and go back to her room.
Meanwhile, Cedric almost lost his foot watching Brione in a bikini. He released his arm from Olivia and immediately turned to Will and threatened him, "I will gouge your eyes out if I find you looking at her!!"
Will coughed and looked elsewhere as Cedric rushed towards Brione. It was not like he had not seen Brione in a bikini before. She had already worn such clothes in some of her movies so what's with the whining of the Prince.
Then he felt Olivia's firm grip on his arm as she whispered, "Why does it have to be Brione?"
Brione on the other hand, bent down to pick up the robe she left on the pool chair which was grabbed by another pair of hands before she could reach it. She felt those strong arms put the robe around her, hugging her from behind.
Brione gasped and bit her lips as she controlled the wave of emotion swirling up within her. She knew it was Cedric from his familiar scent and warmth. He was hugging her tightly.
*Thump *Thump
'Stop it!' she inwardly scolded her heart for beating so loudly. She mustered enough strength to move even as her body was starting to writhe due Cedric's closeness.
Brione raised her head and turned only to meet Cedric's stern and questioning eyes.
'Is he mad?' she wondered.
His face was close to hers as he whispered, "You'll catch a cold swimming with so little fabric on. Didn't my staff provide you with the proper swimwear that is allowed on my island?"
Brione raised an eyebrow and scoffed, "Excuse me?! The sun is hot and I wanted to tan! So I will swim bare naked if I want to."
Cedric's jaw clenched tightly when he heard the word 'naked'. This woman! Didn't she know that she was torturing him by saying such words? A while ago when he stepped out of the helicopter, he was welcomed by her alluring body covered in nothing but her two-piece bikini. His jaw dropped seeing such a scene. She was drop-dead gorgeous!
It was a very nice view but he wanted to be the only one who got to enjoy it! And now she was saying that she was willing to be naked just to get a tan? If she wanted a tan so badly then she could do that in his room and he would be her sun giving her the tan!
But then he knew that it was just his own dream and fantasy. Brione was a celebrity so he must learn to respect the things she was willing to do due to her passion for the craft.
Cedric let out a deep sigh as he looked around. He was glad that there were only female staff in the vicinity.
His arms were still around Brione, not wanting to pull away. If possible, he wanted to pull Brione closer to him and never let her go.
Olivia stopped walking and stood beside Cedric. Her eyes moved to look at his hands as they firmly held Brione by her shoulder.
Another batch of arrows hit her heart on the spot. It hurt so much that she wished she could just run away from them at that moment, but she managed to gather enough confidence to smile faintly and say, "Cedric, will you not introduce us?"
'Cedric?' Brione thought, noticing how informally the woman addressed Cedric.
Brione gulped when she saw the woman in front of her smile beautifully. The woman had a strong charisma and was very cutely displaying the dimples on her cheek as she smiled.
Brione bit her inner cheek asking herself what was going on with her. It was so unlike her to feel like this, especially comparing herself to any woman.
Cedric looked at Olivia and with a bright smile proudly said, "Livi, this is my girlfriend, Brione."
Then Cedric looked at Brione and said, "Sweetheart, this is Olivia, my childhood friend. She is the daughter of Prime Minister Harold Philips."
Brione smiled genuinely and offered her hand for a handshake, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Olivia."
Brione had heard of her before but nothing in detail though. She wondered if she had seen Olivia's photographs in magazines. She hated politics, so she never had fun reading any political news and Gavin would often nag her saying that she should check the news and learn more about it.
But she would just pout beautifully and tell Gavin that was what he was there for, to update her about the current news whenever they were together. Because Gavin was a news anchor, he knew almost everything that was happening around the world!
'Wait! Gavin… Did he find out about Cedric?' Brione suddenly thought as she recalled that the ship Gavin boarded before the accident had a stop at some island. She should confirm this with her brother. Could it be Perdu Island? If so, then what were the chances that Gavin found out about Cedric, the Prince of Frales, Duke of Moore, and knew the similarity of their faces? There was a very high possibility of this!
'But Keira,' she thought. Keira who was Gavin's friend, and co-anchor, who also became her friend afterward said that Gavin boarded that ship because of her, to leave her and move on. Remembering that Gavin left because of her always makes her heart ache.
She did not think that Gavin would be so hurt when she said that she would rather be his best friend forever than be his lover. But she had not meant it… She had said it just because she was afraid of losing her greatest friend if their relationship as lovers didn't work out as they hoped to. She had a lot of worries in her mind which was why she had said that but she regretted it deeply when Gavin left her without a word.
But, what if she was not the only reason why he boarded that ship? What if Gavin happened to find out about Cedric? Knowing how adventurous and curious Gavin was about things, he would have definitely found out more about Cedric.
