Chapter 1128: Reunion (1)
Kyran and Myst completed the gate that could connect the two realms without problems. The only two things left to do were to wait for the gate on the other side of the Regis Terram, which was in the Lower Realm, to be completed. After that, they would connect the two to form a path to both realms.
"Your timing is truly impeccable, Young Master. I was having some reservations about using that item to activate the last phase with those formulas," Myst said, his voice carrying a palpable sense of relief as she looked at Kyran.
The item Myst was referring to was something Kyran left behind that was imbued with Void magic energy. Since he did not know when he would return from what he set out to do, he decided to leave that item so Myst could easily activate the last part, which consisted of formulas written in Void runes.
"I made the formula to require absorbing the needed magic energy to trigger," Kyran replied, shaking his head at Myst with a wry smile. "There is no need to work yourself up."
"Even if you say that, the Void's nature is too scary for someone like me to control, Young Master," Myst replied with a sigh.
Kyran simply shook his head in response. He more or less understood Myst's concern about releasing the Void magic energy in the item he left behind. If Myst fails to release it into the array properly, it might destroy the already finished part, rendering the whole array useless.
But Kyran knew the nature of his magic more than anyone, which was why he created the formula and the item to complement each other, allowing anyone who released the Void magic energy in the item to be absorbed into the array without problems.
Anyhow, that was no longer important. Now that the gate on their end was completed, their part was mostly finished.
"You did a good job completing the array by yourself," Kyran commended Myst.
Myst scratched his head, somewhat bashful at receiving a compliment, and said, "I only did it because of Lady Ames's assistance."
"You don't have to lie. She probably only ensured you have enough magic energy to continue working on the array."
Myst looked at Kyran with raised brows, "How did you— did Lady Ames confess everything?"
Kyran only chuckled at Myst's bewildered expression.
"Go rest for now. I'll ask Lady Ames to continue watching over this side. I'd like to stay and do that, but she said there are some delays in the Array Creation on Raya's side. I have to check on them."
"If that's the case, I can go with you, Young Master. I may be able to offer some assistance, even if a little."
"No," Kyran shook his head and pat Myst on the shoulder. "You mostly completed this array on your own. You'll soon feel the mental strain and may suffer some backlash if you don't get proper rest."
"But..." Myst's expression turned serious as his eyes glowed silver and his pupils turned into slits, proof that he activated the dragon blood in his system. "I could say the same with you, Young Master. You don't normally release your aura and presence, but seeing you right now, there are cracks where your aura leaks out.
The aura itself doesn't produce any specific type of energy, but the fact that you can't even contain them because of those cracks meant you are suffering internally at this moment."
"I'm fine—."
"You're not," Myst interrupted, looking sternly at Kyran. "You may have surpassed us in terms of magic knowledge and strength but we are still your seniors. At times like this, you need to listen to your senior's advice properly."
Kyran was somewhat perplexed at Myst's attitude. Then again, before he discovered he had magic and was forced to leave the clan, Myst was one of the few members of the Regis Special Forces who would help him train in combat when his father or grandfather was not around.
Myst was strict about training but even stricter about getting proper rest or treatment if Kyran suffered an injury.
Before Kyran could say anything to his defense, Myst continued, "I bet you're going to rely on the Young Mistress's healing ability again. But even if she can heal your internal and external injuries, you know very well that she cannot heal your mental fatigue. Do us all a favor and get proper rest, Young Master.
"I know you wanted the new Array on Coelus's Corpse to be completed as soon as possible, but we are not completely off schedule. The path connecting the two realms is still underway, so even if the Array on Coelus's Corpse is completed, it will only be operating there without anyone taking advantage of it."
"That's not true. You, Raya, and the others can start using the array while we wait for the rest to come."
"That may be true, but don't you think it's a waste to use that array with only a few of us taking in that huge amount of magic energy? Won't it be better to have more people in the array?"
"...True."
"Then, there is no need to rush everything. I bet the Young Mistress will be agitated if she realizes you are injured again. So rather than making her feel that it's best for you to go meet her now and admit you need medical assistance."
'In dire need...' Kyran repeated inwardly, his brow twitching slightly. He was enduring the pain caused by the chaotic fluctuation happening in his magic cores because of the Void energy and Draconic energy, but he would not really say he was in dire need of medical assistance.
Moreover, when he stepped into the special space where the Tower of the Ancients fell, his connection to True Void— who was still rampantly spreading Void energy everywhere— got disconnected, and the rampaging energy of Coelus's Corpse that entered his Draconic core also stopped.
Though it was only for a brief moment, Kyran received a moment of respite from the suffering he had been enduring for weeks.
The pain returned after stepping out of that special space and returning to the Dragon Plane. However, he was able to endure better because he managed to rest for some time in the special space.
In any case, Myst also pointed out that the new Array would not be properly utilized if no one used it. Kyran did not say there was no need to rush, but he agreed that they did have time.
"Fine. I'll ask Lady Ames to keep watch here in the meantime. The two of us will go to Raya and the others, and after resting enough, we'll also assist in the Array Creation."
Myst smiled wryly at Kyran and said, "You know, Young Master, as far as I know, not even the Patriarch could order Lady Ames around, yet you..."
"It's not an order," Kyran replied, looking at him somewhat innocently. "She barely helped in the gate's creation, and having her watch over the other side's progress is the least she could do."
"Even if you phrase it that way..."
[You do know I can hear you two?]
"I know, that's why I said those things."
[Seriously, who do you take after?]
"..."
Myst was speechless when Ames's voice reverberated within the Regis Terram's space. He did expect the latter to have the capability to hear them, given her natural heightened hearing senses, but he was still surprised to hear her.
[Before you go, though. What do you plan on doing with the Blade Dancer mage you brought along?]
"B-Blade Dancer mage?" Myst shouted in surprise as he gaped at Kyran. "Young Master, you... did you kidnap someone again?"
"I don't—" Kyran stopped midway through explaining himself and ended up groaning in exasperation. He did not expect that Myst knew about the 'kidnap' gag about him.
"I'll bring her and Lady Leif to Coelus's Corpse's seal."
[Aren't you afraid my Father or the aides there will kill them on sight?]
"I won't let that happen."
[Father may give you a chance to explain why they were there, but those aides...]
"Will they really take action without the Dragon Emperor's consent?"
[...Depending on the situation.]
"They're with me. I trust they would not do anything stupid just because they don't like me or because those two are outsiders."
[You're free to try your luck then. But do remember that you have been warned.]
"I will," Kyran replied to Ames.
Kyran and Myst cleaned up the space around the gate before meeting Ames, Alta, and Leif on the other side of the translucent veil.
Once they stepped out, Alta was the first to react. Her expression darkened after seeing another mage with the same dark hair and gray eyes as Kyran.
"Is it really that strange to see someone with dark hair and eyes?" Kyran asked, seemingly having guessed Alta's thoughts.
"Yes," Alta answered, not even making an excuse.
"You'll get used to it," Kyran told her in a dismissive attitude. "Let's go."
The moment he said that and a purple disc appeared beneath their feet, Alta's complexion paled at once.
"W-Wait just a second—!"
Her request had gone on deaf ears because Kyran warped them without even a pause.
