Chapter 579: Chapter 579 - Berserker’s Gambit
Chapter 579: Chapter 579 - Berserker’s Gambit
Broken prepared to activate Berserker Rage, the powerful skill from the Invincible Paragon set. He knew this meant switching from the Enchanted Raven Helm back to the Invincible Paragon Helmet, sacrificing the crow helm's teleportation perk. But if he was going all out, he needed every bit of strength he could muster.
With resolve, he swapped the helmets and activated the skill.
[Berserker Rage (Active Skill) Activated]
Immediately, a surge of raw power coursed through him, boosting his strength to a new level. To ensure success, he activated every defensive and protective skill he had, feeling Gaia's regenerative abilities surround him like a shield, fortifying his endurance.
This was it. Everything was riding on this final strike.
[You have spent 421 Soul Points to cast the skill.]
[Soul Blast (Conditional Active Skill) activated!]
Suddenly, a massive surge of energy erupted from the scythe, and countless souls seemed to spill forth, their voices echoing in his mind with agonizing clarity.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Protect Lady Elaine!"
"Kill the humans!"
"Please, let me die!"
"Let me die, let me die, let me die!"
The souls' desperate cries filled his mind all at once, their final moments washing over him like a torrent.
The overwhelming flood of emotions, the pain, and the despair of each spirit struck him hard, leaving him nauseated.
Broken staggered, nearly overcome by the sickening sensation. The sheer intensity of it was unbearable, and for a moment, he had to fight to keep his focus, his stomach twisting.
Damn, he thought, trying to steady himself. What an absolutely horrifying experience.
Broken swung his scythe at Elaine, but she quickly spotted the attack and spun around, lunging at him with her spider legs. Just before she could strike, Princess Alora darted in, delivering a powerful blow to Elaine's side that knocked her off balance.
Five massive vines shot up from the ground, wrapping around Elaine in an attempt to restrain her. But her spider legs slashed violently, tearing through the vines with ease and freeing herself.
Then, without warning, a surge of dark energy erupted from Broken's body, expanding rapidly. The energy coalesced around his scythe, growing until it formed a shadowy blade four times its original size. With a swift, deadly motion, the scythe descended toward Elaine, as if the Grim Reaper himself were claiming her soul.
"This... this should be enough, right?"
The attack unleashed a powerful shockwave of energy in all directions, accompanied by the anguished cries of the souls that had fueled its devastating power. The irony wasn't lost on him—these were the very souls of her own people, now turned against her in this final assault.
The recoil from the blast sent Broken flying backward, but Polly braced herself, steadying him so he didn't tumble even further. Alora, on the other side, was wrapped in the protective glow of Vermilion Dusk from Pawpaw, regaining her footing just as Broken did.
The impact had split Elaine's body in half, and she collapsed onto the ground, her severed spider legs scattered around her. But to his shock, she wasn't dead.
There's no notification of her defeat?! Damn it!
"Damn it! She's still alive!" Broken exclaimed.
"We have to keep going, Broken!" Alora shouted. "She has to be more vulnerable now than ever. We're not done yet!"
Broken and Alora charged toward the remnants of Elaine's body scattered across the ground. But before they could strike, a massive explosion erupted from her, sending them hurtling back as a shockwave blasted outward.
In the distance, a vortex of energy spiraled upward, and Elaine rose from the debris, her body completely restored.
This time, however, the lower half of her form had transformed into that of a monstrous spider, with her human torso extending out from its armored carapace. Her hair had turned sharp and jet-black, making her look even more terrifying than before.
"She's risen again," Alora murmured, a trace of dread in her voice. "And she's even stronger than before... Is this her second form?"
"Damn it," Broken growled. "This is exactly what I hate about boss monsters-never knowing how many forms they have! And if this isn't even her last one... we're in for a real nightmare."
Elaine let out an ear-splitting roar, her voice booming with fury, "This is my final form! Get ready to face your doom! Prepare to suffer and die in agony!"
She was even more terrifying now, and, to their shock, she was speaking clearly again. Just then, a notification appeared on Broken's screen.
[Warning: Your Stamina has dropped to 20%. Please restrain yourself to ensure you have enough stamina while you are away from the charging station.]
"Not really the time for jokes, is it, System?" Broken muttered under his breath.
"Can you do another attack like before?" Alora asked.
He hesitated, then slowly replied, "I can... I can if I do another massacre, and gather enough Soul Points. This time, maybe I don't need to hold back. I could fill the gauge completely... no
restraint."
Broken scanned the battlefield and realized that all the Faebeasts from before had scattered, leaving only Elaine standing before them.
He murmured to Alora, "We need to track down those Faebeasts, Princess. I'll need their Soul Points if we want to take her down."
Just then, Elaine began shrieking, her voice filled with murderous rage. "Die, die, die... you will all die!"
Broken replied dryly, "That's exactly the kind of line I'd expect from a boss monster."
"Broken..." Alora touched his hand, directing his gaze to the side.
When he looked, he saw something rushing toward them-a familiar sight. Kingsley, in his panther form, was bounding closer, with Melliandra and Ivana riding on his back. And above, Elincia's figure appeared, floating toward them until she gracefully descended beside them. Ivana immediately leaped down and rushed toward Broken. "Broken... Why do you look like this? You still have your consciousness, right?"
"Yes, Ivana, don't worry," he replied.
Elincia glanced at him, raising an eyebrow. "Phew... another form, Broken? How do you keep getting new upgrades every time I see you?"
Melliandra, with a smirk, chimed in. "Honestly, I think he's more suited to a slimy worm
form, considering he's such a pervert."
Elincia nodded in agreement. "But a Grim Reaper look suits you perfectly, Broken. It's a very...
fitting form."
Broken sighed, trying to keep his composure as they teased him. "Glad you all approve," he
muttered.
They all turned to face Elaine as Ivana and Kingsley stepped forward, ready to stand at the
front.
"So, she's changed to a new form? Is this the final one?" Elincia asked.
"Yes, she said so," Broken replied.
Elincia studied Elaine for a moment. "Well, I don't think defeating her will be easy. Our
numbers might be lacking, but that's no reason to back down."
Kingsley glanced at her with a wry smile. "Did you forget Princess Alora is here, Elincia? She
should be the one giving us that kind of rallying speech."
Alora smiled warmly. "Not really. I didn't say it like that."
Just then, the dark energy surrounding Broken dissipated, his appearance returning to
normal. He exhaled a deep breath, the exhaustion clear in his voice.
"My stamina's draining fast. I won't be able to hold out much longer."
