Chapter 44: A substitute for gray wolf Tianluo (2)
Even though he didn’t know why he was so bothered by that gray wolf Tianluo, he clenched his jaw as he spitefully thought; he wouldn’t help her the next time she asked that gray wolf Tianluo for help.
Still, he had eaten her food, and he would repay her for it.
He would do his best to get better and do his utmost to hunt lots of prey to repay her.
Even if all demons said that a demon with a broken core couldn’t recover, he still wanted to try.
It was just feeding him a meal, and Ruan Qiuqiu didn’t think anything of it. In contrast, Yuan Jue had already transitioned from thinking about when the weather would improve to planning for the future. Now that he had eaten food with healing water, he planned on making the most of it and trying to recuperate.
However, the number of black spots had increased in his demon core, which had been broken into several pieces.
Yuan Jue was apprehensive, but forced himself to quickly enter a meditative state that would help him absorb spiritual energy, so he could repair his demon core.
Ruan Qiuqiu saw that his handsome face was gradually becoming calm and deathly pale. She guessed that he had really fainted this time. She relaxed a bit.
She washed the pot, the wooden bowl, and the spoon. Then, she boiled some water. She condensed her third droplet of water today and added it to the water. Holding an herb and a clean animal skin, she decided to apply a fresh coating of herbs on Mr. Gray Wolf’s injuries.
Most of his body was wrapped up by animal skins, and he seemed to care a lot about showing a strong front. When he was awake, Ruan Qiuqiu felt awkward about pulling the animal skins off of him.
Ruan Qiuqiu put the wooden basin down on the side and decided to treat his injuries on his shoulder and waist first.
But as soon as she lifted the animal skin off of him, she was stunned by what she saw.
Why were there ten obvious holes in the animal skin that Mr. Gray Wolf was lying on?
Ruan Qiuqiu:“……”
She looked at the small holes that looked as if they were made by claws and noticed there were broken threads through them. Mr. Gray Wolf must have secretly sewed the holes up, but then he punctured holes again…
Ruan Qiuqiu glanced at his slender and powerful hands. She compared her hands to Mr. Gray Wolf’s. His hands were bigger than hers and slightly darker.
Ruan Qiuqiu moved his arm to the side and changed the medicine on his shoulder.
Mr. Gray Wolf had a very good figure. He had broad shoulders and a narrow waist. His body looked like it was once brimming with power. He had somewhat defined muscles. However, his abdomen looked more concave than hers. It was probably because he had been hungry for a long time. Plus, there was dense scarring all over his body. All in all, his body couldn’t be considered pleasing to the eye.
The sole of his foot was large too. The difference between his foot and hers was even greater than the difference between their hands. Unfortunately, he only had one foot left.
Ruan Qiuqiu checked his stump. The condition of his stump was better than yesterday, but it still looked ugly.
She carefully cleaned away the dirty blood and applied a fresh layer of the herb.
After doing all this, Ruan Qiuqiu braved the heavy snowfall to get two basins of snow. She decided to boil the snow now so that she would have water in reserve.
While it was still early and there was still light, she deliberated over choosing two pieces of animal skins to make into clothes for Mr. Gray Wolf.
Although he could change into his demon form when he appeared in front of others, it wouldn’t be good to leave him shirtless in human form once he recovered. She would feel awkward around him too.
However, even in his human form, Mr. Gray Wolf was quite tall. She would need to use at least two larger pieces of animal skin to make clothes for him.
Ruan Qiuqiu chose two pieces of black animal skin out of the medium-brown, light-brown, and black animal skin. She approximated the measurements by holding the animal’s skins over him, then she started making the clothes.
She had lived in the post-apocalyptic world for less than half a year. During that time, she had been forced to learn various survival skills. Making clothes was one of those skills.
Before her water ability had awakened, she had learned from seniors to how to make clothes and sell them.
However, she was all thumbs when it came to sewing. Although the clothes she made could be worn, they were inferior to the ones made by the others. And so, she didn’t have much success selling her work.
However, compared to the primitive clothes that were available here, the clothes she made would be considered first-class.
Translator Ramblings: Learning how to sew or even how to alter existing clothes is a useful skill, but there should be plenty of clothing left to scavenge 6 months after the apocalypse. I would think bolts of cloth would be harder to find than clothes. Any home or clothing store would have clothes, but only specialty stores and warehouses would have cloth.
On the other hand, Ruan Qiuqiu did say that her world didn’t go through the typical zombie apocalypse. What do you guys think? Sort of related, I wonder what Ruan Qiuqiu did for a living before the apocalypse. I would have found it more believable if Ruan Qiuqiu had a job or hobby where she made clothes before the apocalypse.
