Prelude to Greece, 3000 BCE
Prelude to Greece, 3000 BCE
[Abydos, 3000 BCE]
It’s been quite a few years, and I was stuck with Sersi, ‘observing’ the development of Ancient Egypt, and it was not fine…
I had to deal with a disappointed Sersi.
Why is she disappointed? Well… Narmer became a bit corrupted, he’s not like a dictator or anything, but in his reign, he further solidifies the position of a ‘God-King’, he commanded his subjects to build the image of the king as the embodiment of a divine being on earth, which in itself sounds like a normal idea as the royal family will have control over the subjects, but they are human, and sometimes… humans have dumb ideas…
Even though he was a bit off in the head, Narmer brought peace and prosperity to the Two Lands, he defended invasions from the south and the north, and the tension between the Upper Egypt culture and Lower Egypt culture lessened as time went by.
The next king is Hor-Aha… he’s a bit normal unlike Narmer, he focused on the development of craftsmanship in the Two lands, skyrocketing the skill of his people in terms of that kind of thing. Hor-Aha also led a counter invasion towards the Nubians, much to Sersi’s ire… She doesn’t like conflict at all if it isn’t obvious by now.
Before he died, he issued a decree that would echo throughout the entire first dynasty… he ordered 36 retainers to be buried with him. Men, women, dogs, and even dwarfs were also killed and buried alongside Hor-Aha, which made Sersi really disappointed, as he liked the king while he reigned.
After that, Hor-Aha was succeeded by Djer, and Djer was no good king.
Firstly, he invaded the region of Sinai, who had no qualms with the Two lands whatsoever unlike the Nubians, which made Sersi really mad.
Secondly, he was obsessed with death. He often dissected his slaves alive, intrigued by the human body. He studied human anatomy in his free time, even making an essay about it.
And now, we’re gathering in Djer’s burial in Abydos, and me and Sersi was standing in front, seeing what could Sersi described as ‘madness’.
There were almost 318 slaves standing in rows in front of his tomb, and one by one, a priest will stab their hearts, and threw their bodies to the tomb, willing or unwilling alike.
“What have we done?” Sersi murmured.
“Nothing.” I said. “It’s all the humans’ fault.”
“Still, if we haven’t-”
“Haven’t what? Mingle with them? They will still find a way to… do these kinds of things.”
We then saw that Djer’s first wife, along with her riches, was slowly brought inside of the tomb, the wife looked at least willing… so there’s that.
“Let’s leave…” Sersi murmured. “We can’t do anything here anyway.”
“Caught on have you?” I smirked. “You finally snap out of it?”
“You don’t have to tell me twice, Pluto. I know it was a mistake to stay.” she said.
I sighed. “We’ll leave tomorrow morning.” I said as I left her to herself, as she still stayed to watch the burial ceremony for some reason…
I feel pity for her, she’s too attached, as time goes on, it’ll be much worse…
[Alexandria, 3000 BCE]
I’m now at modern day Alexandria, right now it’s still empty though as it hasn’t been founded yet. I’m waiting for Sersi to gather her belongings, and she said she wanted to walk around the land for the last time before we flew to Greece. So I waited for her.
After a couple of days of waiting, she finally arrived at Alexandria with a tired expression, not tired physically, but mentally.
“Ready to go back to the others?” I questioned.
She just hummed at my words. I snapped my fingers, and two of my winged deviants appeared before us. I hopped on one, while Sersi on the other, and we both took off to the south, where the rest of our ‘family’ is.
[Aegean Sea, A couple of hours later]
We were flying above the Aegean sea as we approached Greece. It was quiet, me and Sersi didn’t talk at all, probably she still finds it hard to believe that humans are not as innocent as she might think.
She’s in deep frown the whole time, I finally sighed, and spoke to her. “Don’t be discouraged…”
She looked at me, confused at my words, so I continued. “Even though humans are easily corrupted by power, some have the ability to resist the corruption as well… not all of humanity is like Djer, you can’t stigmatize them.”
She hummed. “True… but it’s hard to think that a single man can cause so much suffering.”
“It’s always been like that.” I said. “The strong rules over the weak, and the strong can do anything to them.”
“It’s a brutal world we live in.”
I chuckled. “Don’t be too disappointed in them… or you’ll be more disappointed in the future.”
“There’s no way of ending it huh…”
I smiled at her. “Don’t think about it, we’re Eternals, our job is to watch, not to interfere… although that’s still bullshit in my opinion.”
She chuckled at my words, but then, from the sea, a deviant suddenly launched itself at us, appearing from under the water.
“What the hell man!” I shouted as we dodged the deviant’s attack. I looked at the deviant, and saw that it was a new type of variant, it’s a mix between a shark, a crab, and it has wings as well, which was really strange.
“It’s one of them…” I murmured.
“One of what?!” Sersi questioned, almost thrown off.
“The one that can absorb animals!” I shouted as I summoned Ghidorah 2.0(Ghidorah 1.0, Ghidorah 1.0, Ghidorah 1.0), I hopped on its barely corporeal back, and commanded it to attack the deviant.
Ghidorah hovered in the air for a moment, its ability was to absorb the surrounding cosmic energy, making it cloudy and dark. And from that cosmic energy, it can shoot cosmic beams from its mouth, and it did just that.
It charged up the beam, and the three heads aimed it at the deviant, who was now flying towards me.
The golden beam then lit up the sky, as if lightning repeatedly struck on the same place.
But the deviant was so fast that it dodged it.
So I resorted to a more… close up method.
I jumped from Ghidorah, and successfully, albeit barely, landed on the back of that deviant’s back.
“What are you doing!?” I heard Sersi shout from afar, but I paid no heed. The deviant was struggling to make me fall off, and I quickly used my newly made weapon.
Introducing the Vibranium Bident that Phastos made for me, it can transform into a bracelet, so it’s quite hidden.
Aside from melee attacks, Phastos also added some shit.
It can absorb a construct of mine, and turn it into a cosmic energy beam, so it’s quite cool.
I transformed the bident from its previous bracelet form, and I stabbed it to the deviant’s back.
Yet it still lives…
“Fucking deviant…” I murmured. I then summoned a small rat construct, and it was absorbed into the bident. The space between the two spear tips suddenly glowed golden, and a small but precise golden beam appeared from the top of my bident, I aimed it so that it cuts the deviant’s body in half, and it did just that.
The deviant was dead for sure this time. And I'm falling quickly to the sea. I quickly absorbed the deviant, and Ghidorah caught me before I fell off to the sea, which made Sersi sighed in relief.
“That was stupid!” Sersi apprehended me as we stabilized.
“Stupid… but fun…” I chuckled as I lay on the back of Ghidorah. “Damn… I want to do that again.”
Sersi just shook her head in amusement, and finally, we saw land in front of us, it was of course, Greece.
