Chapter 276: Avengers Future
Chapter 276: Avengers Future
"And you often go out to fight criminals. So tell me, after splitting your energy like that, how much do you have left for work and maintaining a family?"
Tony's words were harsh but realistic.
Although Peter was still young, due to his family situation, especially after becoming Spider-Man and the death of Uncle Ben, he had matured considerably.
He could tell that Tony Stark wasn't exaggerating, but stating facts.
This made Peter fall silent.
The identity of Spider-Man meant that he was destined to spend a large portion of his energy fighting crime. And since one's energy and time are limited, this would inevitably have a significant impact on his work and family life.
Where would he find the time to earn money?
Seeing Peter deep in thought, Tony's lips curled into a slight smile. "So, why not join the Avengers?"
Seeing Peter lift his gaze to look at him, Tony made no effort to hide his persuasive intentions.
"Join the Avengers, and you'll receive a salary of $100,000 per month. Additionally, after each mission, you'll be awarded a bonus based on the assessed danger level of the mission. Every member of the Avengers is part of this reward system."
"And the Avengers' missions aren't that frequent. We don't respond to every crisis, so most of the time, it won't interfere with your crime-fighting activities in New York."
"By joining the Avengers, you won't have to worry about work anymore. You won't lack money, and the Avengers' logistical base can provide you with a dedicated team to make your crime-fighting efforts much easier. Don't underestimate the importance of a team, Peter."
"We need to come together because the dangers in this world aren't limited to just the criminals in New York."
"We need a stronger force to face the greatest crisis."
Tony wasn't usually a great persuader, but he genuinely admired the young man in front of him. So, to recruit Peter Parker, he carefully analyzed the situation, speaking from a realistic and responsible perspective, pointing out many issues.
And these were precisely the issues that resonated most with Peter.
So Peter took a deep breath and nodded. "Okay, I'll join, Mr. Stark."
"Wow, fantastic! Welcome to the Avengers, Spider-Man."
...
Above the blue sky and clouds, a Quinjet was flying.
Peter Parker, dressed in a brand-new Spider suit, sat in a seat in the jet's lounge. On either side of him were the famous Avengers: Jean Grey, Wolverine Logan, Cyclops Scott, Rogers, and Tony Stark.
Peter, feeling somewhat resigned under the curious gazes of the others, couldn't help but think that he had been tricked by Mr. Stark.
What about the missions being infrequent? The day after joining the Avengers, Tony had already pulled him onto a plane for a mission.
And it seemed to be quite a dangerous one.
"So, we're heading to the Middle East?"
"Yes, our target this time is the Mandarin."
Steve Rogers, dressed in his battle suit and carrying his shield, held onto a handgrip above while waving his other hand in the air. A holographic projection appeared in front of him.
The screen showed an Asian middle-aged man with black hair, wearing a suit, and adorned with various rings on his hands.
His features were very stern, and his demeanor was somewhat menacing.
"That's the Mandarin. According to our investigation, he founded the Ten Rings, a brutal terrorist organization in the Middle East that has committed countless atrocities, destroying many families there."
"More importantly, we've detected that there may be connections between the Mandarin and enemies from other worlds. Our mission is to investigate who this potential otherworldly enemy is and to destroy the Ten Rings, capturing the Mandarin."
Normally, the Avengers wouldn't focus on terrorist organizations and their leaders in one region. But if there were signs of individuals from other dimensions involved, that changed everything.
S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in the Middle East had even infiltrated to investigate, but several agents had gone missing. This prompted the Avengers to decide to eliminate the Mandarin and the Ten Rings.
With Peter Parker joining, it was also an opportunity to test him in a mission.
After Steve Rogers finished speaking, he noticed that Peter Parker looked like he had something to say, so he smiled and asked, "Peter, do you have something on your mind?"
All eyes immediately focused on Peter, making him a bit nervous.
But he still pointed at the rings on the Mandarin's hands in the holographic projection and said, "I feel like he's very dangerous, and the danger seems to be coming from those rings on his hands."
"You know, I have a very strong instinct and intuition."
"When I look at those rings, it triggers that intuition."
Peter's words made Steve Rogers take it very seriously. He trusted his comrade and focused on the ten rings on the Mandarin's hands. "Are these rings dangerous?"
"They seem suspicious. Regular people don't wear ten rings all the time; it's more foolish than those street thugs."
Logan puffed out a smoke ring from his cigar and said.
Steve Rogers nodded. "Everyone, stay alert. Do not underestimate the Mandarin, especially his rings."
The other Avengers nodded. Over the years of carrying out missions, they had learned that seemingly harmless objects were often the most dangerous.
This principle applied to the Mandarin as well.
In dangerous missions, caution is always warranted. A single mistake could lead to death, as all these battle-hardened veterans knew.
"We're almost there, guys. We're heading straight into the enemy's lair."
Over the headset, Tony's voice came through.
"Everyone, get ready."
"Jean? Storm?"
Captain Rogers immediately became serious, looking at Jean Grey and Storm. The former remained calm, while the latter nodded.
"Now, move out."
As soon as Rogers finished speaking, the jet's rear hatch opened downward, and a strong wind howled through. The group immediately stood up and headed out.
