Chapter 87: Precognition
Chapter 87: Precognition
On the balcony of a modern villa on the hilltop of a small town, a girl with deep brown short hair stood in a daze. She was wearing a white short-sleeved light jacket with a black vest underneath. Her gaze seemed to penetrate through the forest, focusing on a specific location in the town, on a specific person.
A vision flashed through her mind: in a vast golden starlight, a figure stood tall in the sky, backlit by the golden light, his face indistinguishable, but his eyes emitted a cold and ruthless aura. The terrifying atmosphere was overwhelming, making her feel as though she was caught in a storm, ready to be swept away at any moment.
After a long while, the vision was suddenly interrupted by a greater, mysterious force, and she woke up from the trance, her chest heaving as she panted wildly.
In the living room behind her, a beautiful and mature woman with smooth golden hair cascading over her shoulders walked over. Seeing her daughter in this state, she immediately sensed something was wrong.
"Alice, are you alright?" she asked with concern, placing one hand on Alice's shoulder and the other on her arm for support.
"I think I saw an unbelievable scene," Alice slowly recovered, standing upright and looking bewilderedly at her mother, Esme.
"What did you see?"
"I... I can't describe it. I think I saw someone, but I couldn't make out their face."
"You've never experienced something like this before," Esme frowned.
As a family member, she knew Alice's abilities well. Alice had a powerful precognitive ability, capable of seeing potential and imminent events. This ability was highly practical and strong, often helping the family avoid disasters. But now, Alice had clearly activated her ability again, yet couldn't fully describe it, and the vision seemed fragmented, raising Esme's concern.
She gently hugged Alice to comfort her, then led her downstairs, where the family members were gathered. Some were busy in the kitchen, some were watching TV on the sofa, and others were enjoying the scenery from a window seat.
Esme called out, "Alice had an unexpected vision, we need to talk."
The family immediately turned their attention to Esme's words, including Carlisle, who was busy in the kitchen. He put down his utensils and joined the others around Esme and Alice.
"What happened?"
"You seem tense, Alice."
"Did your ability trigger again?"
The family members observed Alice, speaking softly. Carlisle reached out to stop the questions, gently hugged Alice, stroked her short hair, and asked kindly, "Are you alright, Alice?"
"Yeah, I sensed someone coming to the town."
"He is terrifying, possessing the power to destroy us all. I am scared," Alice recalled the vision, trembling uncontrollably.
"It's okay, we're all here with you," Carlisle comforted her gently, while the others looked worried.
After a while, Alice calmed down and described what she had seen, though her description was vague and chaotic, providing no clear information. This only made everyone more uneasy.
"Who is this person? Alice has never experienced this before."
"Can we find this person?"
"NO, that would be foolish, Rosalie."
"So, what do you suggest? Leave Forks?"
A beautiful blonde girl argued with a handsome short-haired boy, feeling frustrated. Carlisle raised his hand to stop the discussion. He was the most rational and mature, looking at Alice softly, "Alice, do you feel he poses a threat to us?"
"I don't know, but I didn't see us dying," Alice confirmed.
Carlisle immediately understood that a powerful figure had arrived in town, possibly just passing through, but his presence was so strong that Alice sensed it in advance. He pondered for a moment and said, "No need to panic for now. Continue with your usual activities, but be discreet."
Seeing Carlisle's decision, the others did not object, though they were curious about the new arrival in Forks. Esme looked at Carlisle with some concern, but he smiled and shook his head, indicating there was no danger.
Maybe.
…
On Bi Xiao's side, he returned to Charlie, who was in conversation with Bella and two other people, including a red Chevrolet 1953 pickup truck. An old man in a wheelchair wearing a red sweater and hat, and a young man with long black hair, slightly tanned skin, in a black leather jacket and jeans, were speaking. As the conversation concluded, the young man pushed the old man's wheelchair away, with Charlie and Bella watching from the roadside.
Bi Xiao rode his motorcycle and stopped in front of Bella and Charlie, glancing at the departing duo. The young man turned back to look at Bi Xiao, frowning slightly, as if sensing something.
"Interesting," Bi Xiao smiled lightly. Bella and Charlie noticed Bi Xiao's arrival and approached him. Charlie, more interested in the groceries and beer Bi Xiao bought for the evening, asked, "Is this for tonight?"
"Of course."
"Ha, I'm hosting tonight, kid."
"Just beer and fruit."
"Haha, alright, leave it to me.”
