Chapter 30: Survival unknown
Chapter 30: Survival unknown
The car stopped and Jasmine rushed out. She arrived and saw a half dead man lying in his pool of blood, she stepped closer and his facial features clicked with the image branded to her brain.
"Ralph! Come here quickly!"
The driver who was a huge fat man waddled towards her, he squinted his small eyes when he saw Derek's face.
'Isn't he the man they've been searching for', he screamed inwardly, he would have Unknowingly passed and when his boss finds out he passed this road there would be no mercy for him.
"What are you doing, can't you see his State! let's take him to the car" Jasmine said while she tried to adjust her long gown.
'What!!' Ralph screamed inwardly, when he saw Jasmine adjusting her gown his heart almost flew out.
"Don't bother ma'am he's not heavy" Ralph shouted with panic and lifted Derek.
When Jasmine saw the way Ralph carried Derek she yelled "be gentle!"
Ralph nodded and placed Derek in a better position, while walking towards the car, he kept on grumbling inwardly.
'He's unconscious but still trying to get me fired, what a wicked kid. I can't believe at his age he would have such a cruel heart, what have I ever done to him? We haven't even seen each other before or is it because I didn't greet him when he came to the mansion, ha!... Kids of this era... So disrespectful and resentful.'
He gently laid Derek at the back seat with his head on Jasmine's laps, he closed the door and ran to the front. Shut his door and started the car, a deft reverse was made and the car zoomed off in the direction they came from.
Hidden under the cover of darkness behind the flickering street lights, the woman's face turned ugly, she had the chance to attack but it would be plain suicide to attack a Crawford, she was just a diamond ranked teleporter. Compared to the crawfords she couldn't even be seen as an ant.
She covered her head with her hood and disappeared into the darkness.
AT THE CRAWFORD'S MANSION...
The beautiful gates opened and a long black car drove through the driveway, it passed the lush flower garden which had recently bloomed with a nice fragrance clouding the vicinity attracting butterflies. The vehicle arrived at the front of the mansion and stopped.
The door opened and two beauties came out. Angel, standing at 174cm tall, wore a bogus white top and military pants. The dark camouflage was in line with her black cap and fingerless gloves, though her clothes were loose it couldn't hide her hourglass shape.
The guards clothed in black suits gave an impression of a long spear as their cold eyes scanned the vicinity. When they saw their Miss, they nodded their heads as she walked in with her best friend Amelia, who was also clad in the same attire, but her cap faced a different direction.
"So is the guy here, let's go meet him. I want to see the man who could ignore the our Angel, I'll personally deal with him should he misbehave"
"Enough Amelia, let's go to the room" Angel chortled as she headed for the wide spiral stairs adorned with beautiful ivory color.
Walking beside Angel, Amelia pouted as she complained about Roland's order, though she was exempted because of her already healed injury, she felt sad that her best friend would not be around for long.
They hadn't even reached the stairs when Angel noticed the abnormality, there was a slight tension in the air and as a soldier who studied the moment, she felt something was wrong.
She looked around and noticed there were more guards than usual.
Normally the guards were always hidden but now they were manning every possible position, she frowned and called one of them.
"What's going on?" She queried.
"I'm sorry but I'm not permitted to speak about it" the guard answered monotonously.
Angel frowned, it irked her that something was going on and she was exempted from knowing, her gem-like eyes contracted as deep words left her plump lips "what's going on, tell me now!"
The guard stared at her silently, Amelia frowned and dropped her bag to the ground, she grabbed a hilt and a light blade swooshed out, she looked around, counting the number of guards around them.
"They were ordered by me!" A voice broke the tense situation, both Angel and Amelia turned to the sitting room and Luke walked out. His gray hair had drastically increased and when Angel saw it she frowned, she ignored the guard and walked to her dad.
"Dad, what's going on?"
"Angel I think you need to rest, we'll talk tomorrow" Luke's deep authoritative voice echoed within the delicate walls of her ears.
She pouted and nodded reluctantly, as she turned back Luke's watch lit up and a hologram of Jasmine appeared.
"Luke I've found him, but he's in a critical state, I need you here and please be quick!"
Luke regretted accepting the call in front of Angel and true to his thoughts, Angel's eyes were filled with a lot of questions that if written down in a scroll, its length could reach the gates.
He exhaled loudly"it's about Derek"

A hover car sped into the compound of a huge fifteen story building, three people hurriedly opened the door and dashed into the building, everyone in the hall was stunned when the saw Luke crawford; a top figure running towards the elevator with two girls in black camouflage pants and boots, although the girls wore caps, their long white hair were still visible and it gave a slight hint of their identities.
In this dark era the most famous people are teleporters and soldiers, so many people on the floor knew the white haired twins. They were very popular on the internet with a huge fan base of millions.
The movement of the elevator had never been this slow for Angel, from what she could sum up, Derek had gone missing for three months now and her 'second mother' was indirectly a cause of his quick capture.
The door opened and they rushed towards the room Jasmine had told them to come to.
Angel's eyes trembled when she saw Derek on a surgical bed, his entire body was covered in blood, his skin was so pale that no one would believe he was alive.
She couldn't enter the room and could only watch from the see through glass, she saw her mother in her sparkling surgical clothes operating on Derek with different surgical equipment deftly working its way in and out of Derek.
A thick layer of transparent liquid coated her eyes and the skin beneath her eyes turned red "what happened to his heart!" She yelled and turned to her dad. Luke couldn't bear the look his daughter gave him. For the first time in a long time the great man lowered his head. He was a major general with tens of thousands under his command but here he stood powerless as he watched his daughter shed tears.
He watched as Angel hugged Amelia and bailed her heart out, he knew his daughter was a girl that almost never showed her emotions and the number of times she cried could be counted with one hand.
He felt his heart squeeze as he stared at his wife trying to save Derek's life but from the expressions of the other surgeons the chances of Derek's survival was minimal.
He couldn't find any positive words because the probability of Derek surviving may not even reach the number zero, a heart wound was a death wound especially when caused by a bullet.
"He's going to be fine. '' Amelia softly padded Angel's trembling back with moist eyes. She felt her heart trembling as it threatened to break, she was filled with so much pain but couldn't show it.
Luke suddenly frowned and left the room, Angel had also noticed the sudden change in the air, her eyes flashed with chilling light and she bolted out of the room.
"Angel!!" Amelia shouted, the glass wall was also soundproof so the surgery was still going on peacefully.
Luke felt a harsh wind swoosh past him and he caught a flash of white hair before it disappeared, Amelia ran out of the room and Luke queried "what happened!"
"I don't know, she just rushed out" Amelia explained while she ran after Angel with Luke.
The elevator opened and Angel darted out, she raced towards the exit, when she was close the door opened and she dashed out.
She ran on the sidewalk with increasing pace racing past tall glass buildings with exotic symbols boldly written on them and they were built symmetrically producing a perfect and constructive air fitting this sector. She was like a flicker to the pedestrians as she maneuvered through them. It was a stunning sight as most cars stopped and winded down their windows whilst they gazed at the beautiful girl with fluttering white hair running on the sidewalks.
Angel made a sharp turn as the soles of her boot grinded against the paved blocks without losing her momentum she dashed into a different building which was a ten story building.
Both the guards and the receptionist couldn't even react as she bolted past them, the building was quite Spartan as even the chairs were few but she didn't care as her watch began blinking, her Ruby eyes locked on it and the message made her luscious lips curl up.
[ 8th floor!] The message kept blinking with the sender….
