Chapter 155 The Hunt - 1
– Evening - 3 Days before the reinstated of Lucian Councilor status –
In the rooftop house within the secret base, the little troublemaker Sylvana returned, accompanied by Koyuki, Greed, and Michaela.
"Papaaaa, I'm bac—k!" The little troublemaker ran to Daniel, who was focusing on the notebook. He immediately turned toward her and caught her as she pounced at him like he was a sweet candy.
"Aaahhhh! My little princess is back! How was the vacation!?" Daniel asked his little princess.
The little troublemaker didn't answer immediately; instead, she pushed her hand into her pocket and fished out a phone, opening the picture album for her father to see.
"Look, look! Sister Michaela in a swimsuit!" The little troublemaker shouted excitedly and showed Daniel a picture of Michaela in a swimsuit. Michaela was looking at the camera with embarrassment, wearing a white two-piece swimsuit that was both sexy and cute and complimented her silver hair. Her spotless white skin could be said to be an epitome of allure, making Daniel gulp down his saliva.
Greed, who saw this, smiled teasingly, while Koyuki's smile seemed a bit dull, as if something weighed on her mind.
"Is there something on your mind?" Daniel asked Koyuki, his wife, but she seemed startled and hesitated to tell him about it.
Observing this, Greed quickly picked up the wooden box containing the letters and placed it on a nearby table for Daniel to see. "It's because of this," said Greed as she opened the lid of the wooden box, revealing hundreds of letters inside.
"Letters?" Daniel picked one of the letters up and examined it, and his face showed a sudden realization as he recognized the handwriting.
"Koyuki... Don't tell me..." Daniel began, but Koyuki nodded, confirming what he was about to say.
"Yes, my mother is still alive... Let me explain," Koyuki then proceeded to tell her husband about what had happened in Hong Kong, not hiding anything.
After hearing Koyuki's explanation, Daniel's face became solemn. He never thought that his wife would have such a background. He wasn't an expert in Japan's history, but he knew that the Tokugawa Clan, or the Tokugawa Shogunate, was the ruling party in Japan.
"You mean you are a princess of the Tokugawa Clan?" Daniel asked in disbelief, but he had to believe it as the various letters in the wooden box couldn't be fake.
"So what do you plan to do? Do you want to go to Japan and visit your mother?" Daniel inquired.
"I still don't know," answered Koyuki. To be honest, she wanted to go right now, but she was afraid it might be a trap. Even though she had lost her ability to use magic, witch blood and soul were still highly sought-after ingredients for many priceless elixirs. She knew that she could still be a target, vulnerable without her powers. Furthermore, if she were to be captured again, she worried about putting her husband in harm's way, knowing he would come to rescue her at any cost.
Daniel let out a sigh. He had lived with his wife for many years and understood what she was thinking right now.
"How about this? Let me deal with the matter of Lucian first, and then I'll go to Japan with you," suggested Daniel.
Hearing this, Koyuki's face lit up with a bright smile. "Thank you..." She hugged Daniel in gratitude.
– Meanwhile - Sector Alpha City - Sewer System –
Deep beneath the bustling streets of Sector Alpha City, hidden from the eyes of its unsuspecting citizens, lies a vast and eerie labyrinth of sewage tunnels. Once a mundane and forgotten part of the city's infrastructure, the once-familiar network has now been transformed into an ominous and nightmarish demon lair.
The air is thick with a putrid stench, a foul combination of rotting waste and the acrid scent of demonic corruption. The dim, flickering lights barely manage to pierce the darkness, casting eerie shadows on the slimy walls. The echoing sounds of dripping water reverberate through the narrow passages, adding to the eerie ambiance that seems to suffocate the space.
Mutated and grotesque creatures now roam these tunnels, their once-familiar forms warped beyond recognition by the malevolent forces that infest the underground. Giant rats with blood-red eyes and razor-sharp fangs scurry along the walkways, their gnarled claws scraping against the damp stone. Cockroaches the size of small dogs skitter in the shadows, their carapaces now adorned with twisted demonic symbols.
Homeless people, unfortunate souls who sought refuge in the darkness of the sewers, now roam as mindless and frenzied husks. Their eyes glazed over with a sinister red hue, they shuffle with distorted limbs, driven only by an insatiable urge to attack any non-demonic being that crosses their path.
The walls are marred with disturbing graffiti, dark symbols etched by demon worshippers who have claimed this forsaken domain as their unholy sanctuary. Chants and whispers can be heard faintly in the distance, an ominous reminder that sinister rituals are conducted in these shadowy depths.
The corrupted sewage system, now a breeding ground for demonic malevolence, serves as a stark reminder of the lurking twisted ritual that was recently undergoing beneath the surface of Sector Alpha City. The once-humble tunnels have become a twisted reflection of the city above, a place where nightmares come to life and the line between reality and the demonic realm blurs into oblivion.
At that moment, a group of men clad in scarlet hulking power armor descended into the nightmarish depths of the sewage system—a place nearly indistinguishable from a demonic realm. Their imposing presence was matched by the heavy weaponry they carried: massive shotguns, powerful machine guns capable of shredding tank armor, and specially designed flamethrowers that spewed holy fire to purge any tainted substances and demonic essence.
"Team 'A,' standby, requesting orders," the leader of the armored men announced through his helmet's communication device, relaying both sound and images back to the base.
Within the secret base's command center, Penthesilea carefully read the reports and monitored the positions of the various teams displayed on the main screen. Their mission was to purge Lucian from his hiding, but what they encountered was a demonic incursion that had corrupted everything in the sewage system.
"Team 'B' is ready... Team 'F' is ready... Mechanical and the Battle Golem squad is ready," echoed the confirmations from each squad positioned and prepared for the operation.
"All entrances are blocked," one voice reported, followed by another, "The exit to the sea is blocked; if anything emerges, we're ready to bombard it with holy explosive shells."
"The purging operation commences!" Penthesilea's commanding voice resonated, and the operation began.
In the depths of the sewage system, the group of men in hulking red armor fearlessly pressed forward, venturing into the heart of the demonic infestation.
After a few minutes of relentless advance, the group was met with a chilling scream and roar from the depths of darkness. The team leader swiftly launched a flare into the abyss, revealing countless demonic abominations. Most of them bore rat-like features, standing on their hind legs like twisted humanoid beings. Their fiery red eyes glowed with wrath and destruction.
"Purge them!" the team leader bellowed, opening fire with his wrist machine gun. His main weapon, a heavy shotgun, remained on standby, ready to repel any abomination that dared to get too close. The others followed suit, engaging the corrupted monstrosities in a fierce and relentless battle to cleanse the depths of evil that had taken root in the once-familiar sewers.
In a relentless torrent of firepower, the hulking power-armored men unleashed a hailstorm of bullets from their heavy machine guns.
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrttttt—
Each round was a devastating force, capable of tearing through even the most fortified of defenses. The demonic abominations stood little chance against this overwhelming barrage. Their corrupted and twisted bodies were torn apart, reduced to mere fragments, as the crimson bullets cut through them like a scythe through wheat.
No longer able to withstand the onslaught, the demonic creatures faltered and fell, their once fearsome forms now broken and lifeless. But the purging was far from over. As the dust settled, the air became heavy with an aura of holiness, a telltale sign that the next phase of cleansing was about to begin.
The heavy flamethrower ignited with a brilliant burst of holy flame, spewing forth a cleansing fire that engulfed the remaining demonic substances. The blaze danced with an otherworldly brilliance, illuminating the dark recesses of the sewage system with an eerie glow. The demonic essence crackled and sizzled, consumed by the purifying flames until there was nothing left but ash and charred remnants.
The team continued their relentless march through the twisted labyrinth of the sewer, advancing cautiously yet confidently. The demonic presence was strong here, and the corrupted creatures, though dwindling in numbers, still posed a threat. But with every pull of the trigger and every surge of holy fire, the hulking soldiers showed no hesitation, no mercy. They were on a mission to cleanse this place, to eradicate the demonic taint that had taken hold.
The battle raged on, the echoes of gunfire and the roar of flames reverberating through the underground passages. It was a brutal and harrowing sight, but the determination of the team never wavered. They pressed forward, pushing back the darkness and reclaiming the once-infested territory step by step.
