Chapter 1759 - 1759 Self-directed Plot
1759 Self-directed Plot
Zhuo Yun paused briefly. He frowned and continued after a moment. “When I investigated Count Kerr’s residence, other than dozens of super assassins, no other snipers were found.”
Although he usually served as Boss’s chauffeur, he had the finest detective skills among all the guards. It was impossible for him to overlook something so significant.
According to the way the sniper concealed himself, it was not entirely impossible for him to detect Zhuo Yun’s presence during the sniper’s counter-surveillance.
Min Yu looked up and responded vaguely. “What if the perpetrator didn’t deliberately cover their tracks?”
Zhuo Yun’s eyes constricted. A notion suddenly emerged in his mind on hearing this. “Are you saying the sniper was…”
“Probably.” Min Yu spoke softly. He paused briefly and turned to ask. “How’s the situation outside? What happened?”
He was referring to the banquet hall.
Zhuo Yun shook his head. “Nothing much. After the alarm sounded, the situation got a little chaotic. However, it isn’t that bad.”
After he entered the side hall, Countess Kerr had already gone about placating the guests. Her quick reaction made it seem as though she was already expecting this to happen.
Zhuo Yun felt stunned just thinking about it.
Someone had made arrangements for his boss to get shot. After he got hit, the count helped him to dodge the fire… No matter how he looked at it, it looked like a self-directed plot.
What did Morey want from this? Did he want Min Yu to owe him?
Zhuo Yun found this inconceivable. He wanted to inflict an injury on himself to win the confidence of the enemy…
This was quite the gamble!
After all, judging from the gunshot wound, he might have accidentally died if anything went wrong.
Zhuo Yun turned to look at his boss again and wanted to speak. In the meanwhile, Min Yu had already figured out there was more to this and strode out of the room swiftly.
Zhuo Yun hurriedly followed behind him.

Inside the banquet hall, Huo Yulin frowned after hearing the alarms. Even though he did not seem as worried as the other guests, he inexplicably felt frustrated.
No one had any clue about the incident or Morey’s gunshot wound from the sniper.
Huo Yulin raised his hand to glance at his watch. Ten minutes had passed since his little sister had gone to change her clothes.
He thought about Huo Yao uncharacteristically asking to attend the banquet. Now, the count’s residence was on high alert. Something had clearly happened.
Huo Yulin took out his phone and gave Huo Yao a call.
Sadly, he was unable to even get connected.
Huo Yulin tried again a couple of times, but nothing changed.
He put away his phone and glanced around the spacious hall. He was unable to find Countess Kerr, so he stopped hesitating and went straight to the stairs leading to the second floor.
He could only hope that the alarm had nothing to do with his little sister and that she had indeed simply gone upstairs to change her clothes.
When Huo Yulin got to the stairs, he happened to run into Min Yu walking out of the side hall.
Min Yu noticed the expression on Huo Yulin’s face and his eyes turned dark. “Brother Yulin, where is Yao?”
Huo Yulin could not be bothered when Min Yu greeted him as his brother. “Her clothes got wet. Ten minutes ago, a maid took her upstairs to wash up. I just called her, but I can’t get through her phone.”
Min Yu narrowed his eyes. Morey had pulled him aside ten minutes ago as well.
From the looks of it, they were targeting Huo Yao.
Min Yu quickly went upstairs without saying a word.
