Chapter 199 - He Ignores Her For The First Time
Jasmine finally caught up to Jackson before he could close the door. She held his half-opened door firmly.
"Hey, Ice Prince what is wrong with you and where the heck did you go to only to come back so late...,"
"Why do you care Miss Jasmine?" Jackson asked firmly to the shock of Jasmine. Jackson hardly adds Miss to her name so she was stunned to hear him address her so formally.
"Your fiancee is eagerly waiting for you downstairs I am sure you wouldn't want to keep him waiting," Jackson said with a distant tone.
"Ice Prince, what has come over you? Why do you look like a totally different person?" Jasmine asked? She could not hide her confusion and shock.
"Have this. I know you love the cake made by this company," Jackson said as he handed her a brown shopping bag. The moment Jasmine let go of the door and collected the bag, Jackson used that moment to shut the door on her.
After shutting the door from within he rested his back against the door.
Jasmine, I am sorry that I had to treat you this way but it's hard on me to see you close to him. It hurts me even more whenever I recall that you are his and not mine and that you might end up marrying him without me not being able to do anything to avert this. The pain is getting too hard for me to bear.
Jackson thought as he continue resting his back against the door. Just then he heard her sweet voice.
"Ice Prince, I don't know what has come over you but thank you for the cake. I appreciate your efforts and thoughtfulness," Jasmine said with hopes that he heard her.
"For some reason, he looked angry, I wonder who the heck has the guts to upset him," Jasmine mumbled before she walked away.
After receiving the gift from Jackson she did not go back to join the others. She only messaged her sister and Catherine to tell them that she was too exhausted to join them anymore.
An hour later, Catherine entered their room, she met the lady who said she was tired earlier playing with her phone.
"I can't believe that my guess was right when I received your message," Catherine remarked the moment she reached Jasmine and saw that she was playing games.
"And what exactly was that guess of yours that has now been proved right?" Jasmine asked nonchalantly not pausing what she was doing.
"That you were lying about being exhausted," Catherine replied boldly as she took a seat beside Jasmine.
Jasmine momentarily abandon what she was doing and turn to face Catherine.
"I did that because of Kai. Kai naturally is a good guy but each time I recall the slap father gave me because of my marriage with him, my blood boils in fury. And this fury always made me resent Kai although I know that it wasn't his fault," Jasmine said with a clenched fist. The mere thought of that slap made her hold her cheeks. Although the physical wound was gone, the emotional wound was still as fresh as the day she received that slap across her face.
"Even though you didn't like the idea before, you were cool with it but I guess that is not the same anymore after the incident in your father's mansion right?" Catherine eagerly waited to confirm it from the horse's mouth. She did not want to jump to any conclusions.
Jasmine just chuckle when she heard Catherine's questions. This single action of hers alarmed Catherine. She quickly adjusted like the couch has suddenly become too uncomfortable for her.
"Jasmine, you aren't planning something big right?" Catherine asked with hopes that Jasmine will let her on her plans but hell no, she did not utter a word.
"Jasmine, you know how scary your father can be so whatever you are planning to do think first about the consequences of his wrath ok?" Catherine warned in a calm tone.
"Just wait for the fun...,"
"Instead of fun why do I have the feeling that you are gonna give me a heart attack instead?" Catherine asked seriously. Her words made Jasmine smile.
The two continue talking until late into the night. They only went to bed when they realised that it was too late.
The next day, Jasmine and Catherine did not wake up very early and nobody dared disturb them until it was time for lunch.
The moment Jasmine who just opened the door saw who the heck knocked on their door, Jasmine once excited expression fell and the guy standing in front of her did not fail to notice it.
Hearing that he came to inform them that it was time for lunch, Jasmine and Catherine hurriedly freshen up and get prepared. They did not want to delay others time for having lunch.
Reaching where the shade was, even from afar Jasmine wasn't surprised to see that everyone was sitting waiting for the two of them.
Jackson quickly tilted his head sideways when he saw Kai holding onto Jasmine's hands. The others could notice the sudden change in his expression following the couple's arrival.
"I am sorry I kept you all waiting," Jasmine said before she and Kai took a seat beside each other. Unfortunately, their seats had to be facing that of Jackson and Jane.
"No need for apology Jasmine. Dig in, this is Kai's treat for everyone," Elizabeth said seeing that nobody was ready to talk.
Even without Jackson saying anything Jasmine knew that he was avoiding her because of the way he acted. About ten minutes later, none of the guys who normally chatter utter a word. The quietness made Jasmine uncomfortable but she did not say anything despite the urge to talk.
What the heck is wrong with Ice Prince? He hasn't eaten up to ten bites since we sat down here, is he perhaps unwell?
Jasmine thought as she stare at the guy who has been poking the food on his plate with the fork.
