MMORPG: Crowd Control

Chapter 264 Join Us

Cecile thought Tang Qiaolian was ready to snicker at her failure, but to her surprise, Tang Qiaolian was asking for a meet-up.

'Does she want to tease me face to face?' Cecile thought to herself.

Nevertheless, there was no harm in agreeing to a meet-up now that she was no longer the vice leader of the Aries Guild. Her disgraceful expulsion from the Aries Guild had probably spread like wildfire already.

Being expelled from a Zodiac Guild was no different than announcing your career in Magnolia was effectively over.

The only guilds that would still accept them are those who are casual or just small guild businesses. In other words, small fries can't make any impact on society or the Magnolia world itself.

"The Aries Guild isn't worth it anyway," She muttered, exiting her office under the scornful eyes of many others.

And while this incident was currently happening to Cecile, Lei Zhen remained ignorant of this matter since he could care less about it.

He was now being swarmed with questions from Howard, questions that Kate had told Howard to relay to him.

"So Queen Kate was asking if you are fine in Cinderton since she had received news that we were attacked by one of their military commanders. And she also wished to know if you want to pursue the matter till the end." Howard said and didn't have any intention of stopping anytime soon.

"Howard, just stop and give her some default response." Lei Zhen had no choice but to halt him.

At first, he thought the questions would only last for around 3 minutes or so. Yet it had been more than 15 minutes already, and the questions didn't seem to have scratched the tip of the surface.

"But Queen Kate heavily instructed me that you must respond to each of them personally," Howard said with much difficulty. And to be fair, he was actually the most innocent one since he's a transmitter for both parties.

Lei Zhen scratched his head, ruffling his hair in the meantime. "Just fake it till you make it, Howard. I don't have the time to answer her that many questions."

"Queen Kate also said she won't have the time to take care of your companion if you're such a busy man."

"What kind of attitude is that? Who does she take after?"

Howard remained silent for a few seconds, but his eyes were staring right at Lei Zhen.

The person who had taught Queen Kate devious and shrewd tactics was none other than Lei Zhen, who used many shrewd methods to achieve his goals.

Lei Zhen also seemed to have realized this after asking the question, so he shrugged his shoulders.

"Anyway, I'm sure the person she takes after is quite clever." He then said, proceeding to tell Howard to list all the questions one by one instead of saying them.

Kate had learned way too much from him and knew this was a great opportunity for her to spam him with questions.

Since Lei Zhen needed a favor from her, he could only accept his fate and spend the next few hours answering what seemed to be examination questionnaires.

By the time he was done answering the questions, Lei Zhen realized he was once again exhausted. The questionnaires were so long and tedious, similar to those for college examinations or license tests.

"Did she spend all this time jotting down the questions that she had in mind?" Lei Zhen turned to Howard and asked. All these questions don't seem to be something that a person could come up with on the spot.

"Yes, Queen Kate misses the Chancellor very much. She also asked me to enquire when you would return to Yors Castle." Howard bowed his head slightly and said, seemingly knowing that this will irk Lei Zhen a bit.

"I knew it… you are a spy all along." Lei Zhen twitched his mouth.

"I'm not a spy. I'm just a transmitter." Howard suddenly said, snatching the answered sheets from Lei Zhen, and left the room swiftly.

"Sigh, I would have fired you if you weren't so useful." Lei Zhen muttered, taking a sip of tea to relax his mind.

As Lei Zhen got ready to readjust his mind, Samantha registered herself as an adventurer in the Town of Wales and accepted a slime extermination quest.

"Kill 20 slimes. Pretty doable." Samantha smiled, checking up on her inventory for the necessary kits required to survive in the wilderness.

Although death isn't permanent since they could respawn, the pain was something that they could still feel and experience. Hence, no players would ever deliberately go crazy and receive damage on purpose.

Of course, the pain tolerance meter for tanks is especially high, so they would rarely feel much pain compared to other players.

And just when Samantha was getting ready to leave the Town of Wales to find some slimes to kill, she was halted by a group of people.

There were three women and two men, with each of them equipped with decent equipment.

"Hello, I saw you were alone and was wondering if you want to join us. We are short of one person for a dungeon entry requirement and we can see that you have just started Magnolia with those novice equipment." One of the women stepped forward and asked.

"Sorry, but I don't think I can join you." Samantha shook her head and rejected politely.

"I have accepted a quest so I can't join your party to enter a dungeon." She added.

"That's fine, we can assist you in the quest and then you can join us." The woman insisted.

And although she had an amicable expression, Samantha's instinct was telling her that there is something wrong.

She was not the only person wearing novice equipment, so why would they specifically ask her to join?

Unwilling to deter her original goal and the fact that she wanted to test out the skeleton soldiers' prowess, Samantha continued to reject them.

"Apologies, but you should find someone else. At the moment, I wish to do things alone without joining a party yet." She then said, leaving the town without waiting for their response.
