Chapter 1142 Galactic Eminence
1142 Galactic Eminence
"…Nope." Slightly frowning for a bit, Valyr briefly rummaged through his memories from his past life before shaking his head at the man. "Haven't heard of it."
"Then again, the name of the tournament is giving me a rough idea as to what it could possibly be."
"And you wouldn't be wrong to think that way." Scho'doxa nodded in agreement. "Just like what the name implies, the Galactic Eminence tournament is more or less the Rise to Prominence tournament you're currently a part of, but on a much greater scale."
"And that scale being…?" asked Valyr for clarification.
"The galaxy Veldanyr is in," replied the man. "The Zetaris Galaxy." Nôv(el)B\\jnn
"I see." Valyr nodded, only to fall silent after that. "Why me, though?"
"Take a guess." Scho'doxa slightly shrugged his shoulders at the question. "If not you, then who else?"
Fortunately, those words were more than enough for the young man to figure out what was going on. "Wait… does this also have to do with the 2nd Tier Seed thing?"
"Would've only given you the same kind of preferential treatment as the others if that weren't the case." The man faintly smiled as he nodded. "But yeah. Becoming a 2nd Tier Seed means a lot more than you think it does."
"After all, even the feat of killing a Myth-level being at Rank 5 is already insanely difficult to achieve, considering the difference in Concepts and the like," he continued, prompting Valyr to intently listen. "Which is why it's incredibly surprising that you were able to kill a Myth while still being at Rank 3."
"How did you do that anyway?"
"Let's just say it includes a bit of luck," said Valyr with a faint chuckle, even though he knew in reality that it was anything but.
Pondering a bit more over their conversation, the young man eventually recalled the words Scho'doxa briefly mentioned to him during the first round involving 4th Tier Seeds.
Feeling like he was onto something with the thought, Valyr eventually decided to delve deeper into it, coming to a conclusion that prompted him to ask Scho'doxa a question. "Say, does becoming a Seed have something to do with killing a Myth before becoming one?"
"Didn't the title's description already mention that to you?" Scho'doxa looked back at him with a raised eyebrow, with Valyr not taking long to understand that he was referring to [Surpassing Mortal Bounds]. "In any case, if that wasn't obvious, that is indeed the requirement."
"Killing a Myth-level being at Rank 5 classifies you as a 4th Tier Seed, while killing one at Rank 4 classifies you as a 3rd Tier Seed."
"Doing it at Rank 3 makes you a 2nd Tier Seed, doing it at Rank 2 makes you a 1st Tier Seed, while doing it at Rank 1 makes you an Eminent Seed," explained the man, causing Valyr's eyes to widen in response.
"Wait… there's people out there who've killed Myths at Rank 1?" Valyr found it unbelievable.
Though, as he pondered over it for a bit more, he gradually began to realize that it wasn't as unbelievable as he initially thought it would be.
"There are many ways to do it," explained Scho'doxa with a shrug. "After all, all that matters is the last hit that finally ends the Myth's life."
"…Huh." For a while, Valyr blanked out at the thought, recalling all of the titles he'd gotten from the past by making use of similar loopholes.
With a shake of his head, he discarded those thoughts for the meantime as he realized they've veered off from their main topic. "So… about the Galactic Eminence tournament."
"How would that benefit both of us, exactly?"
"If you enter the tournament, you'll gain access to various items and features that aren't available on your home planet," said Scho'doxa in a slightly persuading tone. "On the other hand, I'd gain a little something from the system itself with this referral."
'Wouldn't be surprised if that little something was an increase to his Authority stat,' thought Valyr to himself, being reminded that the man in front of him was an Arbiter.
Scratching the back of his head as he mulled over the man's offer, Valyr continued to ask the latter a couple more questions, his thoughts at a crossroads. "Will I have to enter the Galactic Eminence tournament once this one's done? Is there any downsides to entering the tournament?"
"The only downside I could think of is the amount of time you'll be spending," replied Scho'doxa after mulling over Valyr's questions for a bit. "As for your first question, the Galactic Eminence tournament only begins once all the Rise to Prominence tournaments are done."
"Considering the speed at which we're progressing here, I'd say the Galactic Eminence tournament would start a couple of years from now."
"I see." With that, the young man easily knew what choice to make. "If that's the case, then I guess you could say I'm willing to participate."
"Glad to hear." Unsurprisingly, Scho'doxa donned a bright grin in response as he extended his hand out for a handshake.
Though, just as he reciprocated the handshake in return, Valyr froze in his tracks as he heard the next words that came out of the man's mouth.
"Honestly, I thought I'd have to explain a bit more about the tournament to finally get the thought through. After all, the Legends and Myths of your planet usually tend to know more about such things."
"Who knew you'd be so knowledgeable of the world beyond your home planet?"
At those words, Valyr merely smiled as he remained silent, his mind in slight turmoil at that moment as he wondered whether he said something he shouldn't have.
Fortunately, he had done nothing of the sort, with Scho'doxa's actions after that acting as proof of the claim.
Faintly letting out a sigh of relief as their conversation came to an end, the two eventually returned to the main portion of the field, causing them to appear in front of Julian and the others after some time.
Waving farewell to Scho'doxa after that, Valyr was soon surrounded by the four as they were curious as to what the two of them talked about.
Briefly glancing at the man's fleeting silhouette, the young man merely smiled back at them in response as he told them that their conversation wasn't anything that important.
With a bit more misdirection here and there, the four eventually stopped talking about the conversation he and Scho'doxa had, allowing the five of them to get all the rest they needed before the third round began.
