Chapter 140 0140. Premonition
—-Haah!
A huge sigh escaped my mouth as soon as I fell in the embrace of my soft and comfy bed.
Today probably has been one of the most chaotic days of my life ever since I started playing Mayhem.
Honestly, it all would have ended way, way earlier when the player's side only had about a few thousand kills. It was all thanks to Lynch's dust explosion that I figured out how there can be smarter ways to defeat the mobs instead of just attacking them recklessly.
The fight with the golems was never supposed to happen according to the developers, yet it still did and the player side still had 50 people remaining while all the golems were defeated.
What an absolute miracle.
And then, there was the army of skeletons.
Red and blue pairs of flames started glitching in my brain as I remembered the fear and powerlessness that the army of skeletons had made us feel.
Before I died, I wanted to take out at least one of them to satiate my ego, but I guess it was just wishful thinking.
'Come to think of it, that dude…. Anubis, was it?'
I couldn't help but think about him after all that has happened. I would have ignored him as a normal overpowered boss of Mayhem but what piqued my interest was how I was able to understand his words.
"You really are like an onion."
I suddenly heard a charming feminine voice and knew who it was.
I sat up on my bed lazily as I looked at the mature woman in front of me.
"Malaika…. What do you mean by that?"
I asked curiously.
She removed her high heels and jumped on her bed face first, then turned her head towards me.
"I mean, you have got all the big cards one after the other. It's like you are an onion, no matter how much one peels, you just have a new layer about you that keeps surprising people."
"Oh…"
I let out a small 'Oh' as I started to think about her statement.
After a minute of silence, Malaika opened her mouth again.
"How did you understand Anubis' words? Do you have some multi-communication or interpretation skills?"
"Ah…I don't. Also, I am sure there were many in the remaining fifty who had interpretation skills, yet they still didn't understand his words… I am quite bothered by this myself."
I voiced my worries. Honestly, it was super weird how I was the only one able to understand his words without any interpretation skills.
It was like, I always knew that language deep down.
"If you understood his words in the game, it was probably something related to your class that helped you interpret his words."
Malaika said something which I was thinking too. Since there were no obvious ways to know just how I knew to understand such a weird and ancient language, then it was probably my class' doing.
Just then, an idea flashed in my mind, and even though my brain was repulsively telling me not to try it out for my own mental health, I couldn't hold myself back as I opened my mouth.
"ꀤꌗ ꓄ꃅꀤꌗ ꃅꂦꅏ ꃅꍟ ꌗᖘꂦꀘꍟ?"
"....."
"....."
Both me and Malaika looked at each other blankly.
"How in the world?"
"ꀤ ꃅꍏᐯꍟ ꈤꂦ ꀤꀸꍟꍏ—- I mean I have no idea! How the fuck am I able to talk some old egyption language???"
My whole body was experiencing jolts of shivers as I got creeped out at myself. I am sure Malaika wasn't handling it any better than me.
After almost ten minutes of absolute silence, which included a lot of weird sighs and stares, both of us opened our mouths at the same time.
"Go ahead, you go first."
"No, no, you go first. I am sure you have a lot of questions that I don't have any answers for."
I said as I told Malaika to speak first.
"J-just how in the fucking heaven did you do that? Are you some game coder at Kibea?"
"No, I am not. And I have no idea how I know a totally foreign language that I didn't even know existed."
"Oh god, oh god. This is too insane. Wow, my newly acquired business partner doesn't know how he knows some old fucking egyption language."
"Hey! I never agreed to be your business partne—-"
"That's not the point!"
Malaika took deep breaths one after the other as she tried to calm herself down, somehow.
"Umm, Malaika, can you promise to not tell this to anyone for now?"
I asked with uncertainty. Of course, even if she did tell someone, I could just spout some random bullshit like I study ancient egyption literature or something, but I don't want any suspicions on myself that might turn me into a lab rat, again.
"Tell anyone? Are you dumb? Why would I tell anyone? Matter of fact, don't ever tell anyone that you can speak some weird mumbo jumbo that ancient egyptian figures speak without ever learning the language, or you'd end up as a lab rat for the rest of your life! Who'd introduce me to Terry if that happens? Also, it would be such a waste to turn someone as handsome as you into a labrat."
Malaika said everything in a single breath, without realising what she was speaking of herself. By the time she finished her emotional rant, her face was already turning red from the sour fruit of realisation.
'Phew, I'm safe. For now at least.'
I really should control myself more if I don't want to end up in similar situations.
As I fell back on my bed, I couldn't help thinking about everything. I had a really eerie feeling that things were going to turn hectic very soon, and that me speaking an ancient language was just a prelude to that.

"That was fast."
A guy in a black robe said as he looked at the screen in front of him. It wasn't a screen made out of glass or an hologram, it looked more like it was made on some kind of floating liquid.
"He's adapting to the world even before the transformation has begun."
The man in black spoke, his voice sounded very old as he stared at the screen in which Flynn and Malaika were talking in their room.
According to the Quintster Hotel's policy, there were no cameras installed in private rooms, and the current video playing in front of the man in black wasn't from a camera, or a hidden camera, it was from something that humans would never believe for now.
Terry, who was standing behind the man, looked at Shura— Player Flynn in shock. He was well aware that Shura was special even amongst the players, but he didn't know that his synchronisation to the new world would be so fast.
Just then, thousands upon thousands of just liquid screens lit up in the dark room, as various players and even normal people were displayed on it.
"Oh, how I pity myself for being the doombringer. I have grown quite fond of this world and its stories, you see."
The man in black spoke with a slight hint of bitterness before his expression turned into that of excitement.
"Fellow brothers, the time nears for you to play your roles, as we, the guides shall fulfil the duties entrusted to us towards the bunch known as humans."
A huge uproar was heard as Terry flinched unconsciously. Behind him were thousands upon thousands of people in a similar robe covering their faces and entire bodies like the man in black.
Terry looked around meekly before his head dropped. He couldn't be more ashamed of his existence. To think he would end up being one of the people that end the peaceful times of earth. He wanted nothing more than to end his own life.
But he couldn't do it even if he wanted to, as the people who were with him right now had absolute control over his life.
'I hope, I hope I will be forgiven for my sins someday.'
Terry prayed inside his heart as the man in black grinned viciously at him. In the next moment, Terry was back in his bedroom as he cried his eyes out.

~~Master….~~
In a dark dimension filled with nothing but void, a purple coloured slime finally woke up from his slumber.
~~Master? Shura? Shura are you there?~~
The slime shouted out, trying to call for the one person that he needed to see the most. The slime had just had an awakening, and a bit of the universe's mysteries were unlocked in his sealed up mind.
One of such mysteries included news that could shake the very reality that Shura lives in.
~~I must inform the Master! Master's world! …..It's going to end soon.~~

—-Heuk!
—-Cough! Cough!
Flynn choked while sleeping, and suddenly sat up as he coughed and coughed, waking up Malaika with him.
"Hey, you alright?"
Malaika immediately ran to him and started rubbing his back as she offered him a glass of water.
Flynn immediately gulped it down.
"More!"
Flynn asked for more and Malaika poured more water in his glass as he immediately gulped it down too.
"Are you okay?"
"I- I'm fine. I think I just had a bad dream."
Flynn cleared the sweat on his forehead as he vividly remembered the dream that he had.
It was a truly weird dream. In the dream, Drew was telling him that 'his' world was about to end.
"It's alright, go back to sleep. I'll sleep too."
Flynn thanked Malaika for her help and told her to sleep, as he went to bed and slept soundly, unaware that his dream wasn't merely a dream, but a premonition.
A premonition of an Apocalypse.
