The Last War
The Last War
[3rd POV]
How did it happen?
"TIGRESS!!!!!!"
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!*
A flash of green, a colour which had quickly become their nightmare. Then a force equalling the sky swept them away.
It separated them, it shattered them and it broke them.
Po's body was violently thrown out of the building and he crashed through many towers and razed the cobblestone before he came to a stop.
In this state, his heart was not that of a warrior but a fleeing mess. His mind had yet to catch up to the situation, he still hadn't comprehended what happened.
They snuck into the city void of order. It was filled with rebel soldiers who only had a bitter heart for the world. The remaining civilians there were treated as slaves because they dared side with the unified China.
Violence hung in the air and the scent of iron and blood polluted the atmosphere. Most of the buildings were homes that had long been abandoned.
It was a sad sight.
The Furious Five gallantly made thier way through the castle of the city of Jingnan. They broke through the powerful walls and burst through the door with righteous fury.
They were met with one of the leaders of the rebels. Tigress decided then and there to end it all by killing the leader, Po did not oppose.
A great fight broke out and that shook the castle and reduced it into rubble but in the end, the Furious Five and the Dragon Warrior came out victorious.
The leader of the rebel army was dead. Although there were still more of them, they knew they had dealt a huge blow.
But thier victory was only met with deep rumbling laughter, akin to thunder and the sound of clapping as if they had just performed a puppet show.
"Well done, well done. I would never expect such young warriors like you to be so fierce and be so in tuned with chi, especially in times of peace. Colour me impressed." green eyes looked upon them like kids.
A giant, an ancient machine stood up and appeared out of nowhere from some part of the castle. Po has yet to wrap his head around how such a stunning presence could hide from him in plain sight.
When the enemy finally revealed themselves, they all knew they stood in front of something pure evil. He felt as old as Oogway, as old as Kung Fu, and he was grinning down at all of them.
Po could only describe the chi of the person as corrupt. It was green, filled with greed and it was devouring everything it could get its hands on.
He did not even feel like one person but countless souls. A great corrupt chi was chaining them all together.
They tired to fight but they quickly realized the futility of it.
Because they could not fight him. He was too strong for them to fight.
The only thing they trained thier whole life to do, they couldn't do it. He toyed with them like a child toying with a doll. Their life was completely in his hands.
It was always a chilling experience to come to a realization that your own life was no longer at your hands but at the enemy's.
They got beaten.
They got destroyed.
So now they lay on the ground, trying to gather enough will, enough courage to even stand back up. But why should they?
"Who are YOU!!" Tigress was the first one to stand up.
The rest of the team, Po included were filled with inspiration from her bold voice that had not wavered. Po cursed at himself - he never did that - telling himself he was the Dragon Warrior so he must always get up.
"Ahh, that same question. It still stung me like the first time I heard it. To have accomplished so much and to attain such strength yet people are unaware of your legacy. They questioned who you are upon your return." the bull of green said while lazily walking out from the castle rubble,
The rest of the team stood up and made a beeline towards Tigress. They knew the enemy was out of thier league, so they must stand together if they wanted to stand even the tiniest chance.
"I am Kai, the Jade Slayer." he made a quick introduction amidst the green smoke that surrounded him.
He easily stood over 10 feet. They could not tell exactly how big he was because he was always looking down at them.
He had a monstrous body decorated with plenty of jade pendants that glowed along with his eyes. His smile was crooked and his eyes told of centuries upon centuries of combat experience. He was the ruler of violence.
"Why are you doing this?! What do you want!" Tigress asked.
"Him." Kai said and pointed his blade at Po whose heart almost stopped. "Yes, I want you and your chi Dragon Warrior."
Such greed was in his eyes, If you gave him the world, he would only want more. It was unquenchable and endless.
His eyes lit up and he observed all of them one by one then he grinned wider, "I will also be glad to take all of you."
Facing such a declaration and a seemingly invincible enemy, there really was just one response.
"RUNN!!!"
Mantis, Monkey, Tigress and Viper rushed towards the enemy as they told Po and Crane to run for thier lives.
"We will hold him back!! Return to the Jade Palace and tell Master Shifu what happened!!" Tigress commanded.
"What! NO!!" Po tried to refute but Crane immediately snatched him and flew away. He was intelligent and in such dire times, his mind triumph his heart.
He knew what he must do. He could not let Po die or let the enemy get what he wanted.
"You can't run!!" Kai said and took a great leap and reached for Po.
But Viper was able to wrap herself around his waist and Tigress and Monkey pulled at her tail to bring Kai back down. They successfully stopped him from reaching Po.
Viper immediately went to work. The teachings of Tai Lung came in her mind. Jiu Jitsu, the art that allows people to fight someone many times stronger than them.
She coiled around Kai's body, searching for joints to break, muscles to tear and bones to snap. She had to stop him by any means, she couldn't let her Po get hurt.
She will protect him.
"Annoying." Kai said and then grabbed Viper.
The next thing she knew, Viper's body was snapped in half, her ribs torn off her flesh as cold-blood splashed on cobblestones.
Her effort was crushed, and her determination was meaningless.
"NOOO!!!!" Tigress screamed and delivered a powerful chi-infused kick at Kai who shrugged the attack off like it was nothing.
...
In another place, Po was struggling to get out of Crane's grasp. "Stop it!! We have to help them!!"
"WE CAN"T ALRIGHT!!" Crane screamed, " The best thing we can do is make thier effort count. Don't worry, they will not die. Believe in them."
Crane flew past his tears as they fell.
So weak.
They were so weak.
Po's expression fell. He was not stupid, he realized the gravity of the situation.
They could only flee for now.
...
"Oh shit, they managed to get away." Kai said while pulling out his blade from Monkey's chest. His eyes lit up briefly and then he took Moneky's chi, turning his body into a pendant.
Then he touched his left chest and saw the green claw mark on his body. He was a spirit warrior so he couldn't' die but even he was still damaged.
"You, are a dangerous cat." he said while strutting towards Tigress who was crawling away with no legs and only one hand.
Kai stomped on her back, the force left a cobweb of crack on the ground and he turned Tigress around so that she would lay on her back.
"Tell me, was it worth it? They abandoned you in the end even though you were willing to sacrifice for them." Kai said, "I did everything in my power to save a friend once, I even went to my knees and begged for him."
"But in the end, he betrayed me."
Tigress took a close look at Kai and then her lips curved into a smile.
"I am glad." she started, her voice was barely audible.
"You are strong but not strong enough." she said.
Kai tilted his head in confusion but then shook his head thinking it was just her speaking nonsense in her dying state.
"He will come for you....he will come for you... with so much anger.." she said and managed to release a pained laugh.
..
..
"Sucks to be you."
Kai moved his hands and quickly turned her dying body into a jade before he ultimately absorbed her chi. He revealed a satisfied smile only for a second before it was replaced with more greed.
He turned towards the direction of the Dragon Warrior.
When he had that infinite chi, he would truly be invincible.
The fact that they ran away was not such a bad thing as he was sure he was not ready to take that kind of chi yet.
But a few things must change now that he was revealed.
"Time for an all-out war." He said with a grin.
The leader of the rebel was dead so it would be much easier to take control of the army.
After 500 years, the old general would wage a war.
