Chapter 10: Chicken Soup with Goji Berries? Sign-In Reward!
“Su Bai, head back to your room and read for a while. I’ll handle this,” Song Qian said before turning to the intercom camera and shouting, “You’re not welcome here! Leave now!”
No one knew Song Qian better than Qiao Weidong.
Hearing her angry tone, he understood she was genuinely furious. If he didn’t leave now, Song Qian might do more than just call security—she could very well report him to the police.
Qiao Weidong also knew why Song Qian was upset: it was all because of Xiao Meng.
He hadn’t wanted to bring Xiao Meng here, but she insisted, leading to the current situation.
Understanding that he had no other choice, Qiao Weidong decided to back off for now and wait until Song Qian calmed down. After all, there were other ways for him to see his daughter—he owned property in the same complex.
With that thought, Qiao Weidong turned and left.
Watching his retreating figure, Song Qian angrily switched off the intercom and returned to sit with Tong Wenjie.
“Song Qian, you really seem to hold a grudge against Qiao Weidong,” Tong Wenjie remarked.
“It’s not a grudge. It’s just that some things became irreparable because of him,” Song Qian replied.
Not long after Qiao Weidong left, Fang Yuan arrived at Song Qian’s home carrying two roasted ducks.
“Alright, everyone, dinner’s ready. Roast duck is served!” he announced.
Song Qian quickly gathered everyone from the rooms.
“Xiao Bai, this is Uncle Fang Yuan,” she said, introducing him.
“Fang Yuan, this is Su Bai.”
It was their first time meeting, and Fang Yuan’s immediate impression was encapsulated in one word: handsome.
To him, Su Bai was strikingly good-looking.
Fang Yuan, being a straightforward man, didn’t usually pay much attention to another man’s appearance. But Su Bai’s appearance was impossible to ignore.
“I’ll handle the roast duck. You all get ready to eat,” Fang Yuan said, heading to the kitchen.
“I’ll help serve the soup,” Song Qian offered, with Tong Wenjie following her into the kitchen.
As soon as Tong Wenjie opened the pot of soup, her eyes widened.
“Song Qian, why did you put so much goji berry in this chicken soup?” she asked, surprised by the sheer quantity.
Earlier, Song Qian had served a bowl of this soup specifically for Su Bai, claiming it was made just for him.
Recalling Su Bai’s earlier comment about being in excellent health, Tong Wenjie began to suspect there might be more to this story.
For a moment, Song Qian was flustered, but she quickly composed herself.
“Oh, these goji berries are a new batch—they’re exceptionally fresh. The packaging was a bit faulty, so too many got in, and it was too much trouble to pick them out. I just used them all,” she explained casually.
“How about saving some for Fang Yuan? He could use the nourishment,” Song Qian added, deflecting.
Tong Wenjie chuckled at her friend’s excuse but didn’t press further.
However, she couldn’t help noticing the changes in Song Qian today. She looked radiant, her rare effort to dress up making her appear vibrant and refreshed.
Song Qian, who had long been single since her divorce from Qiao Weidong—despite his new, much younger partner—seemed like someone stepping into a new chapter.
Tong Wenjie decided to keep her observations to herself for now. It was better to approach such topics cautiously, as blurting them out could strain their friendship.
“I’ll leave it to you, then. Let me know if there’s extra,” Tong Wenjie whispered playfully, glancing at Fang Yuan, who was busy with the roast duck.
“Of course. I’ll pack some for you later,” Song Qian replied with a knowing smile.
The two women exchanged a subtle, understanding glance.
“Soup’s ready! Come on, we’re waiting for you!” Fang Yuan called out.
“Coming!” they replied in unison, bustling to serve the dishes.
Song Qian, an expert at making soups, had prepared more than one kind.
The special soup initially meant for Su Bai ended up being served to Fang Yuan, while Su Bai and the others were given a different one.
Song Qian knew Su Bai didn’t need any extra “nourishment” and made adjustments accordingly.
With everything set, everyone sat down to enjoy the roast duck, and the atmosphere became lively and harmonious.
“Would you like to sign in?” The system’s voice suddenly echoed in Su Bai’s mind.
“Sign in!” Su Bai responded without hesitation.
“Congratulations! You’ve been awarded ownership of a yoga studio,” the system announced.
Details about the studio immediately appeared in Su Bai’s mind, accompanied by a stack of documents that materialised nearby.
This wasn’t just any ordinary yoga studio—it included the entire building where the studio was located, a prime multi-floor property in the capital. Its value was substantial.
The studio itself was thriving, with excellent annual profits according to the system’s information.
For Su Bai, this unexpected windfall was a welcome surprise. After all, who would turn down a multi-million yuan property handed to them for free?
Excited by the prospect, Su Bai jumped up, quickly organising the documents and stuffing them into his backpack.
“This is my asset now. I should visit it soon,” he thought, already making plans to check out the studio.
