Mr. Fang's Feisty Mistress

Chapter 212 Catching Up (IV)

Learning about the incident that transpired before she returned, Mr. Fang let out a long sigh.

He contemplated for for a bit before deciding to say his mind, for he thought it to be wrong if he hid anything from her.

"I understand everything. I understand your mother's worries, and I get that feeling of betrayal, but I hope you would not continue to bear a grudge against her. It doesn't change anything, and she is your only family."

Just like that, Fang Bingwen wiped away the other existence of the members of her family with his words, and continued as if nothing was wrong.

"I know you are still angry, but try to calm down a bit. You are here now, and that's all that matters. Since I understand your mother's fears, and that she can't say soemthing she is not sure of, I will keep an eye out for your father's wife."

This was the promise Mr. Fang was making to her. Because of her mother's suspicion and observation, plus the little he understood from Dr. Li's experiment that time, he was going to protect Zhang Liling from her, while also keeping an eye out.

Hearing him trying to placate her, Zhang Liling calmed down a bit and grumbled something under her breath which he was not able to catch.

Failing to catch what she said, he asked as a small smile tugged at the corners of his lips, "Are you still angry?"

"I don't have the time to waste my emotions on anger. I have so many things to think about at the moment." She replied.

She had come back suddenly without any plans, of course she had to think about her life and out everything in order to know the next step to take.

"Good, don't waste your time on irrelevant matters. If you are having troubles with anything, you can confide with me. I am here to help you." Mr. Fang said with an encouraging smile.

Zhang Liling's gaze brightened up a bit as she said gratefully, "Thank you."

Nodding in response, Mr. Fang asked with an inquisitive gaze. "Have you spoken to your mother since you arrived?"

Zhang Liling felt guilty when thinking back to how many calls from her mother she had ignored after he just finished talking sense into her.

Deciding not to answer that question and letting him guess things for himself, she lowered her gaze as her right hands reached for her spoon to fiddle withit.

Guessing her stance, a soft sigh escaped his lips. "If she calls again, answer it. She has to know that you have reached safely."

Immediately, she directed her gaze to him and said defensively. "Mr. Fang, I'm sure she knows I arrived safely. She must have called the driver she arranged from her company branch to bring me from the airport, to confirm my safety."

Zhang Liling was right. Since her mother arranged the driver for her, and after failing to reach her line, her next line of action would be to give a call to the driver.

By now, she must have learnt that she had arrived City S safely.

Even though, Mr. Fang refused to agree to her logic.

"It doesn't matter if she knows or not. You should pick her calls when next she dials your contact." He said clearly with a stern tone.

"Fine." Zhang Liling said with pouted lips.

Although there was still a part of her heart that was still bitter, she decided to listen to him.

Knowing that's he still bore a little grudge, he ignored it and asked her to continue eating.

"Eat up, don't let the food turn cold."

Zhang Liling sucked and pushed the plate of rice aside. "I don't feel like eating anymore. I lost my appetite since long ago."

"That's fine," Fang Bingwen said, not attempting to urge her to proceed with her food, just like a child would be treated.

His actions indeed took her unawares, but before different thoughts would begin to form in her head, she heard him speak.

"We have a long night, you can the Chef to make any snack to your liking just in case you get hungry before going to bed, or you wake up in the middle of the night."

Although he didn't ask her to continue eating since she didn't feel like it, he showed his concern for her this way.

Finally, a smile appeared on Zhang Liling's face as a glint flashed across her eyes. She looked very happy to be reassured that he still cared for her.

Seeing her new brightened emotions, Mr. Fang shook his head in disbelief.

Watching his reaction, Zhang Liling remembered an important question that troubled her mind for the past several months and immediately asked away.

"Mr. Fang, how did you cope without me next to you? Did you have trouble breathing?"

She was talking about the irritation of other people's scents.

She was aware that it wouldn't have been easy to cope without her, just after getting used to her scent, hence she was interested in knowing how he survived.

Dr. Li did not make mention of any specific thing to her every time she asked questions concerning his health, leaving her a little distressed.

Instantly, Fang Bingwen froze, but it lasted only for two seconds before he recollected himself.

"Do you really want to know the answer to that question?" He asked while peering into her eyes with a calm and collected gaze.

Instinctively, Zhang Liling leaned toward the table with her plans in the way, stopping her body from making contact with the edge of the dining table.

With eyes glowing brigtly like the afternoon sun, she said while nodding her head about.

"Of course! If I wasn't interested, I would never have asked." She said enthusiastically.

It was very obvious from her body language that she was curious and impatient.

Not wanting to dwell on one topic when they had other things to talk about, Mr. Fang answered her question.

"Before you go to bed, come up to my room if you are desperate for the answers."

"What!" Zhang Liling exclaimed without warning as a smile slowly spread across her face.

Her eyes glinted in disbelief as she asked, "You really want to come to your bedroom this night?"
