Chapter 230 A Familiar Face
"Bingwen, your girlfriend is beautiful." Jian Cuifen comment ed from the side as she watched Zhang Liling closely.
Zhang Liling felt a tug in her heart as the feeling of being loved and recognized, overwhelmed her.
"Thank you, Aunty." She said with all smiles.
Turning to his old lady, Fang Bingwen announced. "Grandma, Liling bought gifts for you and everyone." He said pointing at the Butler and the servants standing some distance away from them.
"That looks like a lot." The Old Lady said in surprise as she gaped at the bags in their hands before retracting her gaze to stare at Zhang Liling.
"Thank you for the gifts, I will do well to use them." She said as she slowly reached out to take Zhang Liling's hand.
Instinctively, Mr. Fang released her hand so she would be able to hold the old lady.
Zhang Liling just smiled at the old lady without saying anything, while at the same time allowing her to hold her hands.
Jian Cuifen whose hands were now free, went over to her son's side to chide him dearly.
"How could you stand by the side and watch your girlfriend spend so much money of gifts for us?"
Glancing briefly at the little woman who was all smiles as his grandmother took her hand, he replied his mother.
"I stopped her otherwise, a truck would have brought the gifts over."
The old lady turned to the Butler and instructed them happily. "Send the gifts from my future grand daughter-in-law straight to my bedroom."
"Yes, Old Lady Fang." The Butler and the servants said with a small bow before immediately turning to leave.
'Did she just refer to me as her future grand daughter-in-law?' Zhang Liling stared eye-wide at the old lady.
Her eyes, nearly popping out front their sockets in shock.
'Does this mean that I have been accepted? Just like that?'
So many thoughts were flashing through her mind speedily. She still couldn't believe the scene that just played out now if not for the word in the old Lady's voice still echoing in her ears.
She was expecting to spend some time with the Fang family and take some time to know them before they would fully accept her.
But hearing the verdict from the Old Lady, she felt as if her life was running in a smooth lane.
"Let's not stand here any longer, come, we reserved seats for you two at the main table." Jian Cuifen said with all smiles as she gestured to them before going back to take the Old Lady's hands.
As soon as the two women turned to leave, Zhang Liling shifted back to Mr. Fang's side with a proud smile on her face.
"It looks like you won them over quicker than I thought." Fang Bingwen said immediately reaching for her hand before leading her behind his mother and grandmother.
Staring ahead, she said with a smile, "It's remaining the men in your household."
A soft sigh escaped from his lips. "Good luck with that."
As they walked ahead, some of the guests began to notice them and soon, soft whispers started spreading.
"It feels nice to be the centre of attention." Zhang Liling whispered to him.
"I know because your other name 'trouble' seems to command so much attention each time you decide to put on the armour." Fang Bingwen replied.
Tang Enlai whose attention was suddenly caught by the couple, smiled as the corners of his lips curled in a smirk.
"It looks like Fang Bingwen has found himself a woman." He said, failing to catch a proper glimpse at the woman he was holding unto as it was too late.
Immediately those words reached Zhang Xiaoling's ears, she tore her gaze away from the live band singing thief souls out as her heart constricted in her chest.
Quickly, her eyes darted around until she found the familiar figure if the man that still made her heart throb. But then, her eyes landed on the woman beside him as she felt her heart ache, and her eyes get blurry.
As her eyes landed on the woman beside him, she managed to catch a glimpse of her side profile which seemed oddly familar to her, but before she could have a proper look, Fang Bingwen's tall physique block her completely out of her sight.
"He came with a woman?" Her quivering lips uttered as she stared at his figure in shock.
Glancing at his wife, slowly, the smile on his face turned down a bit.
"Do you not have any shame? Why do you look so shocked to see him with a woman?" He whispered in a voiceonky the two of them could here as there other people sitting at the same table with them.
Those words seemed strong enough to pull her back from her trance. Shifting her gaze to him, she felt insulted.
Without waiting to hear any response from her, he continued.
"Were you expecting him to remain single all his life?"
Unable to hold her anger due to his suggestive words even though he was right, she blurted out sharply, almost attracting the attention of their seat mates to themselves.
"Look around, am I the only person in this room with a look of surprise on my face?"
She refused to be insulted and teased by him. It's not like she was the only person with the same thoughts, so why making her feel like she was committing a crime?
There was a few seconds of silence between them as they both stared at each other annoyedly.
At last, Tang Enlai broke the silence.
"It looks like I have played enough with you, which has clouded your brain from thinking properly." He said and then threw his face away with a straight gaze on the Fang Family's table.
Since they both got married, he has never gone extreme with his taunting like any normal husband would do.
No man would tolerate his wife loving another man and remain quiet, no matter the circumstances surrounding their union.
Given Tang Enlai's previous temper, he should have dealt with Zhang Xiaoling since a long time ago, but it looks like time was not late to still play his role proper.
