Chapter 223: Drugged 1
Chapter 223: Drugged 1
Then she threw a look at the expression on Mrs. Gu’s face.
Gu Chaoyan suddenly realized that Mrs. Gu had set up Gu Chaoyan before in the court when she was a lovely lady of the family. At that time, Gu Chaoyan’s mother had just passed away, and she was left alone. Mrs. Gu had not liked Gu Chaoyan, so she tricked her to become the laughing stock of the ladies in the whole city.
It seemed that this time Mrs. Gu was planning on something else, but now she had become an adult, and she should be more than just laughed at. Mrs. Gu was going to destroy her totally!
No wonder Gu Ruxue and Mrs. Gu insisted on bringing her to the court. They had a plan!
Gu Chaoyan finished the tea directly, without showing any expression on her face.
Mrs. Gu nodded with satisfaction and withdrew her look.
At this interval, Gu Chaoyan drank some magical water alongside as well. The magical water was very useful for removing ordinary poison, something which was noticed by Gu Chaoyan before.
After she finished the magical water, she had no reaction physically, but she had to pretend that she did.
Mrs. Gu was more than ferocious.
She put some ordinary philtre [1. A drink which is supposed to arouse feelings of desire and love for a particular person in the drinker. A love potion.] into the teacup. She clearly intended to ruin her innocence.
A while later, Gu Chaoyan clenched her fist, looking very uncomfortable.
Mrs. Gu smiled with satisfaction and asked with a hypocritical smile, “Chaoyan, what is it, feeling unwell?”
Gu Chaoyan found Mrs. Gu’s smile was extremely annoying, but she still nodded with effort. She looked uncomfortable.
Seeing the situation, Princess Gu asked with concern, “What about going into the wing room for a break?” She then said to her maid, “Tao’er, bring Lady there!”
Tao’er nodded. She walked up to her and held her arms.
Not knowing what was happening, Qing looked very anxious. She was at the edge of crying as she held her arms.
On the way to the wing room Gu Chaoyan said weakly, “Qing, go to find Sword One and get her here. Tao’er can get me to the room.”
Qing looked worried, but she still nodded and hurried off.
Tao’er smiled as if she were staring at an idiot. She was seeking an assisting hand at the Biquan Palace? That would not work.
As they came to the wing room Tao’er showed no coutersey. She tossed her into the room and said stiffly, “Miss. Gu, just take a break. I will lead your maids here. I am going back to Princess, so I am off now.”
Before Gu Chaoyan said anything, she left directly. Then she shut the door.
Gu Chaoyan heard the clicking sound of the lock.
It seemed that Princess Gu, Mrs. Gu and Gu Ruxue were in joined forces. She was totally disgusted by how these people were setting her up.
Gu Chaoyan laid in the bed for a while, then a small voice came from the hidden corner. “Are you alright, Lady Chaoyan?”
It was Zhou Huaijin’s hidden guard, Sword Four. He was rarely visible to anyone in daily life and barely said anything. But now he was worried that she had accidentally drunk something she should not have.
It seemed that she had put on a great show.
She shook her head. “I am fine, this kind of philtre doesn’t affect me.”
Sword Four’s face twitched, and he stopped asking anything more. It seemed that among all the ladies, only Lady Chaoyan would not blush when she spoke of philtre.
Soon a voice arose as the door opened, “My pretty girl, I am coming!”
