Chapter 56 Titus Vs Richard

Titus Vs Richard

Richard lunged forward and Titus went forward to meet him.

He was surprised by how light his body felt and remembered that the weights Christopher had put on him would automatically lighten the moment he was in any sort of danger and allow him to use his full strength.

That's why when he and Richard clashed, he was only pushed back a little.

Sparks flew and their blades pressed against each other and Titus gritted his teeth.

'He's strong.' He thought and Richard swayed slightly before unleashing a flurry of blows.

Titus' eyes widened as he immediately moved to deflect the onslaught of attacks, but the pressure was immense. It was clear that Richarf was trying to kill him as all of his attacks were ruthless and precise, aiming straight for Titus' vital spots without any delay.

Titus' was caught off guard and as such was put under heavy pressure at the beginning of the battle, but he recalled all his sparring sessions with Christopher and his gaze hardened.

'He's strong. But I couldn't even react to Master's movements. This is nothing!' Titus roared in his mind and his Mana moved. Wisps of wind immediately surged around his limbs and sword, raising his speed by several notches.

At the same time, he eliminated the wind resistance around his body allowing for much better movement. And then light seeped into his muscles boosting his strength as well.

He let out a small yell and suddenly pushed through Richard's assault.

He sustained a few shallow cuts in doing so as he practically left himself open to fight through the intense pressure of attacks. But Christopher had let him understand that he couldn't be a fighter if he was scared of taking a few hits.

So he ignored the pain from his wounds and managed to shift the pressure so that he was no longer on the offensive.

He saw a trace of surprise in the eyes of Richard but nothing more and wanted to feel frustrated but quickly punched the feeling down. He had to keep his cool to avoid any mistakes.

As he had that thought, Richard swung his sword once more and Titus swung his to counter. However when their swords collided, a vibration suddenly went through his sword and into his arms that nearly caused him to drop his sword. But he gritted his teeth and fought through it, drawing upon more of his magic to reinforce his limbs.

He knew that Richard possessed an interesting magic called vibration magic which was extremely annoying to fight against because of the fact that through his vibrations, his attacks had a lot more ways of landing. So much so that directly clashing with him often left one hurt even if they defended themselves perfectly.

So fighting up close and personal like this already put Titus in a disadvantage, but he couldn't move because he knew that Richard's target was his brother and he had to protect him at all costs.

They clashed a few more times and Titus winced as he felt his blood start to trickle from where his arms were holding his sword and his arms were aching badly. So he decided to change tactics.

He swapped from a two handed grip on his sword and held it only in his right hand, then he waved his free hand and sent a barrage of small wind blades at Richard.

The man was unperturbed and stared at the barrage, a strange frequency of vibrations were emitted from his body and when they met the wind blades, they stalled before dissipating.

However what came immediately after was a thin and very condensed beam of light that shot straight towards Richard's head. The older man's body vibrated and moved at an unnatural speed, somehow evading the attack.

Then Titus suddenly came in from down low and swung horizontally at Richard's Knees. The man swung his blade to counter, but Titus let a small but condensed orb of wind he'd placed below his sword explode. This caused the weapon to suddenly change course and move towards Richard's unguarded stomach.

The man finally had a legitimate change of expression which would have made Titus happy, but right now he was locked in and fully committed to his attack.

Unfortunately, just as the attack was about to land, Richard's body suddenly vibrated at an incredibly high frequency and Titus found his blade passing right through his torso without drawing any blood.

'What the?!' Titus exclaimed in his mind but didn't have long to dwell on it as he could feel Richard's blade descending on him.

He spun his body and raised his sword to block, but he saw Richard's sword vibrating the same way his body had when Titus had slashed him and knew that his block would be useless.

His mind instantly went into overdrive. His positioning was bad due to his current position and he couldn't use his wind to pull himself away fast enough. The moment his blade was passed through, he would be dead.

'Think Think Think.' He repeated in his mind, and was surprised by how calm he was despite the precarious situation, his mind incredibly clear.

He immediately flooded his brain with light magic and felt his thinking speed soar, making the world slow down.

However, even if it had slowed down in his eyes, he hadn't gotten any faster. But he could think now. And that's what he did.

He dug through his memories for anything that could possibly save him in this situation and found himself thinking back to one of the training sessions he'd had with Christopher. Find exclusive stories on empire

"Light is a much more profound than simply being fast." Christopher said as Titus panted on the floor, his body covered in sweat and bruises.

"Isn't… it… able to heal… as well?" Titus asked between gasps and Christopher nodded.

"Yup, healing is another use it has. But besides making you faster and enhancing your strength, it's able to do a lot more." Christopher explained and Titus waited for him to finish.

"To begin with, ordinary light that isn't enhanced by magic has no mass. Which is why despite the world being bathed in light during the day, you don't feel any heavier than you were during the night." Hearing this, Titus frowned.

"If that's the case… why can't light pass straight through solid objects, since it has no mass?"

"Light can't pass through objects because light waves interact with the materials of the object, causing vibrations in the surface atoms. These vibrations are either absorbed, transmitted, or reflected, and opacity is caused by the reflection of light waves. " Christopher explained and Titus frowned.

"So you're saying that depending on how the light interacts with the atoms on an object, it determines whether or not the light passes through. Which is why it can pass through glass and not rock?" He asked and Christopher nodded.

"Yup. Different atomic composition will determine if light passes through or not." Christopher nodded and Titus sat up with a grunt.

"So it's impossible for light to not pass through things like glass then?" Titus asked.

"In most cases I'd say yes but not all the time. The conditions for this are unlikely but if light can shine at a high enough intensity, it can excite the electrons in the atom which can lead to a change in how the atom interacts with the light and lead to absorption. In short, the light forcefully makes the object opaque."

Titus' eyes went wide and light immediately surged into his sword causing the weapon to shine brilliantly.

At the same time, Richard's sword finally reached his. But instead of passing through, a resounding collision reverberated throughout the hall.

Richard's eyes widened as he felt his sword get blocked despite having made himself capable of phasing through solid objects using his magic. This surprise cost him a few precious moments.

Titus pressed his light infused hand against Richard's chest.

"GET OUT!" He roared and a blast of light erupted from his hand and straight into Richard's chest.

The force was immense and Richard was blasted into a wall causing it to cave in and shatter.

"Ugh." He grunted as his back flared with pain. The Palace was incredibly sturdy as the materials used to create it were very sturdy and hard to break through. So breaking them at all required immense force. Thus it hurt a lot more than being smashed through a normal wall.

Richard couldn't really dwell on this though and moved his body to the side as Titus trusted his sword causing him to miss and stab into the wall.

Titus didn't pause though and instead swung the blade through the stone in Richard's direction and he brought up his sword to block.

Richard finally got very annoyed and stomped his foot on the ground and a powerful vibration caused the floor to shatter into pieces and Titus briefly lost his footing.

Richard swung his sword at the boy's neck but Titus ducked out of the way and grounded himself using wind.

Then he spawned a magic circle at Richard's feet and a pillar of wind shot out of it, throwing the man into the air.

Titus waved his hand and several beams of light shot towards Richard.

The man spun mid air and stomped his foot and a vibration left it causing him to physically step on the air and change his direction. Allowing him to avoid most of the blades and deflect the rest.

Then he shot towards the ground at incredibly speeds and Titus flashed away right before getting hit causing Richard to hit the ground and shatter it into pieces.

Titus didn't rush forward again and took a moment to catch his breath before sparing a glance backwards at Curtis.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
