Chapter 322 322: Flying Class
Porenz Riva carefully stored the green card on her spatial ring with a wide smile on her face. Why wouldn't she be this happy when she won a one-on-one tutoring session with none other than the Headmaster of the Tryst Academy?
That is a mage at the high cycle of the Senior Rank! Inside the outer walls, there are not many that reached that rank. The Headmaster is one of the strongest mages inside the outer walls and every citizen of the outer walls would want to receive her teachings!
"Alright, since one of you already destroyed the crystal, we will start another practical training class. This is just the continuation and improvement of what you were already doing. This new class is about flying!"
"Most mages that extensively learn how to fly are Spirit and Deviant Mages. However, inside this Academy, all students are expected to be great at flying, and by that, I don't only mean having the ability of o fly fast using your flying sticks"
"You must also learn how to skillfully fly while being able to dodge magic attacks and send your own. This would definitely help all of you. In a battle, a mage that has air superiority has the advantage!"
As soon as Thereb announces the start of the new class it was immediately started. There were mechanical golems that are owned by the academy that grabbed the crystals to store them away and the gym underwent a small transformation
Usually, the gym was an enclosed space and it only has the crystals that the students needed to destroy along with crates of books about magic that the students can read
However, right now, it was a bit different. It was still spacious like before but in the air, floating rings and other obstacles could be seen
As for the ground, there were some objects that looks like miniature cannons all around
The installation of this equipment was fast thanks to the large number of alchemical golems
"Some of you might think that having lethal magic attacks is what it needs to win a battle. In some cases, that is true. If raw power reached a certain height, one attack is all it takes to take out your opponents"
"However, you will not always have superiority in raw power and that is the time when you have to use your wits and your skills. No matter how I explain this, you might still not believe me and that's why I'll just show it to you"
"Student Crucia, enter!"
The door of the training gym was pushed open by a female student as she walked inside confidently amidst the gaze of the other students
"She is your Senior. She already entered the academy 3 months ago and she is now in her second semester. The time that she spent in the academy might only be short 3 months but I can confidently say that she has improved a lot"
"Her rank didn't rise by a lot but her foundation has been solidified. She has a better chance of reaching the Senior Rank than before she entered the academy"
"Understand that the Academy not only cares about how fast your cultivation rank progress. If that's the only thing we want then there are tons of ways to propel all of you to the peak of the Junior Rank"
"The Academy does not only want peak Junior Mages. We also want students that reached the Senior Rank, and possibly overtake the Headmaster and become a Great Mage!"
"The first semester will focus more on your foundation rather than helping all of you to advance your cultivation rank in a fast manner!"
After the lengthy speech of the Assistant Instructor, Mage Crucia faced her schoolmates
"Listen to your Assistant Instructor. He might look like that but he did help me when I was still a 1st semester student of the academy" Crucia made a simple joke that causes the other students to chuckle lightly
"Anyway, I'm actually just doing this to obtain Student Points..." she made another joke
The Student Points refer to the points that the students can obtain by doing various tasks assigned by the academy. These points could be converted into cash and a plethora of resources
There are only two ways to obtain these points. The first one is exchanging them for money but the exchange rate was quite expensive since the academy also needs money to continue its operations. However, this way has a limit. A rich student cannot just dump money to get all the resources of the academy
The second way is to accept academy tasks and after completing them, the student would then receive the points
Since Rezen's batch just started attending the academy, they are still not allowed to accept tasks and earn Student Points. Students are typically allowed to accept tasks only after the first semester
The first semester after all mostly focuses on the foundation of the students. It would be detrimental if the academy were to open the school's 'store' for these students where in they would consume tons of resources to improve themselves instead of working on their wisdom and foundation
"... but rest assured, I'm still a mage that is good at my job. I'll let you see that even though I only spent 3 months at Tryst Academy, my improvements are already visible. Here, look at this"
Crucia retrieved a bracelet familiar to the students. It was the same bracelet that they were wearing and Crucia wore that bracelet on her wrist
"My rank is not much higher than your rank and the limiters will also make sure that all of us are at the same level. What's different though is our skills"
"Even if we possess the same level of power, I am still confident that I can defeat at least five of you in a battle in the air"
Crucia was not speaking with arrogance but of pure confidence. She also went through what these students went through and she is aware of the effects these trainings have. That's the source of her confidence
However, the other students think that she was being arrogant. She might be a senior but that is only by three months. The students don't think that if five of them joined hands they still would lose against her
"Since Student Porenz is the first one to destroy the crystal, I'll let you choose four members to have a mock battle with your Senior" Thereb said, giving the decision power to Porenz that scanned her classmates with her eyes
Most students are eager to show off and prove Crucia wrong. Unfortunately, only 4 of them would be chosen and with Porenz's personality, she will only choose the people she thinks are strong
"I choose Rezen, Theon, Paula, and as much as I don't like his personality, he is strong so I choose Quard" Porenz said. She really doesn't mind it even if her words were unpleasant to hear
Not many people would say something like that in the open
great desire to grow and improve
It was Paula, the ugly mage that the other students are staying away from. They don't "The students that are called, take your flying sticks out and fly in the air" Assistant Instructor Thereb said and the four students that were chosen along with Porenz took out their flying sticks to comply
Five students flew in the air before another one joined at the opposite side of them which was also the person that they have to defeat
"Hmph, you'll just hold us back. If we don't have the limiters then you might be strong but with these limiters, you don't have the qualification to fight with us!" Quard said, being unpleasant to Rezen as usual but the latter simply ignored him like he always does
"D-don't be angry. I-I think that you are still a great mage" another one of the five students spoke out
This was the student that possibly has the lowest self-esteem while still showing a great desire to grow and improve
It was Paula, the ugly mage that the other students are staying away from. They don't like her appearance and by now, everyone basically already knows her background
Her appearance along with the fact that she came from a tribe that was recently absorbed by the city made the others dislike her even more
However, at the same time, she also displays great talent that is above most of her classmates. If nothing bad happens, she could become one of the most successful mages in this batch
"I don't care about him. I would rather pour my energy on my cultivation" Rezen replied with a nod
His classmates might be always ignoring Paula but from time to time, Rezen still initiates a conversation with her. He treats him like a fellow human since he does not want to be pushy
In this way, Paula's good impression of him would grow and one day, she might become one of Rezen's subordinates. With her talent, Rezen definitely would not reject such a subordinate
