Chapter 476 Straight Into The Top Bin
Things weren't looking good for Ronino FC so far with only twenty minutes on the clock.
It took Unique FC just three minutes to get the ball into the back of the net, and so far, the away team were dominating the game.
Ronino had managed to get off a couple of shots though but only one of them was on target and it was an easy save for Dave.
Norman's tactics were working pretty efficiently so far but they needed to get another goal just to make sure nothing goes wrong.
Roland received the ball on the halfway line from Ferran before quickly pushing it to Mateo.
"Mateo."
Zen quickly rushed toward the winger to try and take the ball off him but Mateo used his speed and ball control to avoid him before he quickly sent the ball flying into the box.
He was trying to find Gregory who was rushing in from in between the defenders in the box but he failed to get his head on it as the ball kept on flying toward the right.
The left back in the area was just about to get to the ball when Merino quickly zoomed past him and got his foot on the ball just before it could hit the floor.
That could have been something good because the goalkeeper was just rushing to the area at that time but there was no need for that as Merino ended up overhitting the ball to send it over the bar.
"Oh, that was so close, that was supposed to be their second goal."
After missing a chance like that, the winger had to raise both of his hands to apologize to the fans.
"That was such a lovely cross from Mateo, a great chance gone to waste," Steve commented.
"Well, that's something that happens a lot in football matches, they just have to make sure this doesn't turn into a big chance miss fest like what they did against Spree City." Jim expressed.
The match continued till the thirty-fifth minute with nothing that exciting happening.
Unique FC were starting to become conservative now because of how much effort the home team were putting into their defense.
The match was in some sort of stalemate now, and someone did not like it, someone who had not been able to make a single crucial save so far in the game because the shots he wanted just weren't coming.
'Just how the heck am I supposed to make seven crucial saves when they are playing like this, I've only made one save so far and it wasn't even a challenge.' He complained subconsciously.
He had his arms crossed with his back against the right post.
<So, you want more shots, huh?>
'Precisely.'
<And what if you end up messing up one of them?>
'Well, that's a possibility, although I'll try my best to minimize the chances, I just want them to fire when it matters.'
Well, it was quite odd to see a goalkeeper asking for shots in a serious match, if anything they would love the number of shots they get to be less to reduce their chances of not saving any of them but Dave had only conceded five goals in twenty-seven games this season and the system quest needed to be completed.
That said, there wasn't really anything he could do if his teammates were just too good for the other side to do anything, the only thing he could do was complain about it to Catherine just like he was doing now.
'I just hope they pick up their pace in the second half, they weren't this lackluster when we faced them at home.'
<Hmm, and do you also want the same result as that one?>
'I said I wanted them to spark things up a bit, stop getting the wrong idea.'
<Okay, but do you want to know what I think?>
'What?'
<You are still highly likely to fail this quest but it's not like it'll be your fault anyway, and come to think of it, didn't you say that you don't care much about the rewards anymore unless it's a lot of skill upgrade points or attribute points?>
'I mean….'
The goalkeeper had to suddenly pause to trap the ball Roland sent coming his way.
Sandro was quickly heading his way, but just before he could get to him, he sent the ball flying out toward the left.
"Dave sends it flying out immediately."
'I meant what I said but after doing so many of these quests I just have this desire to always try to complete them no matter what, but if I must fail this one for us to win the match then so be it, then it would be the second fail in a row.' He sighed inwardly.
The ball went straight toward Mateo who brought it down with his chest before quickly pushing it back toward Ferran.
As soon as Ferran got his foot on the ball, he quickly sent it rolling straight to Gregory.
The striker had two defenders right in front of him so he had to quickly send the ball back to Minino who quickly linked it to Merino down the right wing.
"Merino."
Merino quickly raced down the wing with the ball but he had the left back hot on his trail.
The defender wasn't giving him the space he needed to do anything and because of that, the winger had to push the ball back to Minino before he could move it over the line for a goal kick.
All the midfielder needed was a single touch to send the ball flying straight into the box.
He was trying to find Gregory inside the box, but the striker wasn't in a really good spot, and one of the defenders there ended up heading the ball over the bar for a corner kick.
"Good defending from Ronino FC but now they have a corner kick to deal with."
Ferran didn't hesitate in moving to the corner spot, and as soon as he got there, the ball boy there threw the ball to him.
"Forty-three minutes on the clock and Unique FC have the first corner kick of the game, can they do something with this spot kick?"
The only thing Ferran was waiting for now was the referee's whistle, and as soon as he heard it, he quickly closed up on the ball and sent it flying into the box.
"And he sends it flying in."
He sent the ball flying straight toward the middle where Minino and Adolf could be spotted.
However, none of them were able to get to it because there were also Ronino FC players in the area.
One of the defenders there was able to nod the ball back in an attempt to send it out but that didn't work out so well for him.
Gregory closed up on the ball just before it could hit the floor, and just before Zen and the other players could get to it, and with his left foot, he fired it straight toward the goalpost.
"Falls toward Gregory, Gregory!"
The ball was sent flying straight toward the top left-hand side of the goalpost and although the goalkeeper was able to chase it, he was only able to feel the wind from the ball as it moved past him and smashed straight into the goalpost.
"And he smashes it straight into the top bin! Oh, what a strike from the young striker!"
Gregory quickly took off to the side with both of his hands stretched as his teammates quickly rushed after him.
"The youngster puts his team two, Unique FC might just be running away with this one after all."
