Chapter 50 Long Day At The Mall
When the mall was tagged as Unique city's largest shopping mall, there was no exaggeration there, none of the other shopping malls in the city came close to it.
The place was quite huge with long rows of counters filled with different kinds of products.
The mall wasn't the best in the city just because it was the largest, it was the best because it covered a wider range of products than the other malls, there was even a large boutique inside the mall.
"Wow," Emma said, looking around the area.
She wasn't wowed by the size of the place because she already expected it to be this large
She was amazed by the way everything looked in here, none of the other malls came close.
"I think we should get a shopping cart before anything else," Dave said, turning her gaze toward the area where the shopping carts were kept.
"Yeah," Emma said.
The two picked up the shopping cart and just as Emma pushed into the long row of counters that looked more like a maze, their shopping had begun.
Dave had told her to take anything she wanted but she wanted to restrict anything she was going to take to useful things only as she was aware that he wasn't exactly earning that much as a professional football player.
She didn't want him to have to pay for something that wasn't exactly useful although there were a few useless things that she wanted to pick.
"Super mixer." She said with an awkward expression on her face before picking up one of the packaged electric dough mixers. "That's exaggerated."
"People will do anything to sell their products."
"Yeah," Emma said before throwing it into the cart.
The shopping continued until the cart had gotten filled up halfway.
They had entered the wear section now and Emma had stopped after she had stopped a pair of nice-looking red heels.
This part of the mall had a few staff placed behind small counters to explain a few things about the wears to the people.
"This will look good on me, don't you think so?" Emma asked, placing her hand on one of the heels.
"Yeah, it will certainly look good on you." The blonde-haired girl sitting behind the counter said to draw the attention of the two. "But there are ones better than that one."
"There are?" Emma said, sounding surprised.
"Yeah, I can show you if you want." The girl said getting up from where she was sitting.
With Emma being kept busy by the girl who was showing her a few other heels, Dave had turned his gaze to the jewelry section ahead.
He quickly made his way there to find a man with a scrunched-up full beard.
"Hello, umm….can I get a ring here?" He asked, looking at the man.
"Rings are over there." The man asked, pointing at the counter which had lots of rings hanging on the loops that were placed there.
"No, not those rings, I want one in a case, a nice looking case," Dave said.
"Oh, you're looking for a special ring to propose with." The man said slowly getting up from where he was sitting.
"Yeah, that's what it is for," Dave said with a nod.
The man didn't reply to him at that time as she slowly walked to the counter a little to the left of the goalkeeper and picked up a case with a curvy design made with little diamond-shaped beads.
"This is just the right ring for you." The man said, handing him the case.
"Are you sure?" Dave asked, looking at the other cases of different sizes, shapes, and designs.
"Yeah, I've always wanted to buy that ring so that I can propose to the love of my life with it, but I never found her." The man said.
"She went missing?"
"No, I never found the one." The man said.
"Oh."
"You're lucky to have found yours." The man said, walking back to his counter. "I guess she must be someone really special to you."
Dave didn't answer immediately as he opened the case to see a nice looking ring with a little purple diamond and looking at it, a smile had curved up on his face.
"Yeah, she is." He said.
"Hey, you can't just run off like that without telling me."
He quickly closed the case and slid it into his pocket before turning to her.
"What are you doing here?" She asked, looking around. "You don't like wearing jewelry of any sort."
"I came to buy something for you," Dave said.
"Really?" She said as the tone of her voice changed to a sweet one. "What?"
"It's a surprise," Dave said with a smile.
"Oh, I love surprises." She said with an excited voice.
"Okay, now give me some space, and let me get the surprise gift." He said.
"You haven't gotten it yet?"
"No," Dave replied.
"Okay." She said before slowly returning to where she had come from.
As soon as she was gone, Dave turned to the necklace section and picked one of the necklaces there before turning to the man who was smiling at him now.
"Ummm…thank you." He said.
"Don't forget to take that ring out of your pocket and check it out before leaving." The man said.
"I will," Dave said before making his way out of the area.
After going around the mall to pick a few more things, the two had headed toward the refreshment section to have their lunch and after a few minutes of eating, Dave stood up to go checkout everything they had bought.
"Let me follow you," Emma said.
"No, no," Dave said, stopping her from getting up from her seat. "Just stay here and finish your meal, it doesn't require both of us to be there."
"Okay." She said sitting down back on her seat.
Dave quickly pushed the cart to the checkout area just a little distance away from the entrance.
After checking all the items out and paying for them, he sent Emma a text to start coming to the exit.
The two had left the mall by around 4:40 PM and by the time they got home, it was already ten minutes to five.
It was fair to say that the two were a bit tired after all that walking, picking, pushing, and carrying.
"Are we going to go watch the match, we have about thirty minutes before it begins?" Emma asked after Dave dropped the heavy back in front of the staircase.
"I don't think I can go there now, let's just watch it here," Dave said after letting out a sigh.
"I was going to say the same if you had said the opposite of what you just said now," Emma said.
Dave let out a sigh as he lifted the bag and dropped it on the first step of the staircase.
"Can you help me carry this one upstairs?" She said handing him the bag she was holding which had a few light items in it. "I want to grab a glass of juice in the freezer."
<More burden to bear>
"Yes, your Highness," Dave said, taking the bag from her.
"Don't worry, you'll have your drink ready by the time you come down." She said with a chuckle.
Dave struggled to get the heavy bag upstairs and after entering the room, he dropped both of the bags before walking to his bed and crashing on it.
[ 30/100 Energy ]
<You still have a lot of energy left in you>
'Catherine, don't.' He said subconsciously before letting out a deep sigh.
Less than thirty minutes left for the match to begin meant that the players were still warming up on the pitch and the official lineup for both teams would have been out.
Dave pulled out his phone to check the lineups, especially Unique FC's lineup.
"What?" He muttered after going through Unique FC's official lineup for the match.
He had a horrid look on his face and the reason for that expression was that neither Ferran nor Mateo was starting the match.
'Why would he not start any of the only two people that makes things easier for the team in every match?' He thought with a pondering look on his face.
