My Journey to Godhood as a Caterpillar

Chapter 7: Corpse disposer

Chapter 7: Corpse disposer

Yun Jhin sat on the bed appearing sickly on the outside as he waited for the man to come back with his food, after a short while he became with a tray of dark porridge and a glass of water, he quickly ate the food to make himself look famished and waited for the nutrients to settle in his body before talking to Chu Mang:

"Thanks for the food elder brother, I think after I rest a bit we could go to get me registered in the sect what do you say?"

Chu Mang just nodded and left, he had his duties to do and he only came to his house very rarely, he only had a house in name as most of the time he had to warily sleep at his job, that's why he had big dark bags under his eyes that showed that he currently lacking sleep. Yun Jhin started thinking about what he should say and do to get his hands on the corpse dispenser job, they didn't know anything about him as the body he was using was just a slave one, so if he played his cards right he might be able to get the job easily, after all, there would never be too many corpse dispensers, every day people would die in the outer sect and their bodies would need to be disposed of. (...)

I sat cross-legged on the bed as I started to do a breathing exercise, even though the exercise wouldn't be as effective as devouring bodies it was still useful to further my cultivation and make me feel rested at the same time, due to the body's low talent it could only be trained with extreme cultivation techniques for it to get any results. It was unfortunate I had to possess such a talentless body but there was not much I could do about it right now, I was too weak, it was impossible to currently possess anyone else besides mortals.

I got up from the bed and waited, slowly time trickled as Chu Mang returned, his eyes widened as he already saw me up and about but he smiled as he looked at me:

"You recovered quite fast, it seems you can't wait to get registered, after all, it's an honor for mortals such as us to learn cultivation and join a sect like our Corpse Refining sect." Even though he said those words I could see that he didn't mean them, he was angry at the sect, angry that he got kidnapped and given such a shitty job, maybe the man had a wife a son, or daughter out there, now they were all alone to fend for themselves after he got kidnapped and thrown into the sect against his will.

Maybe he would be useful in the future, I thought to myself as I started following him to the place where I could register in the sect. (...)

Chu Mang walked slowly as Yun Jhin followed behind him, after a short while of walking they left the low leveled area of the sect and entered in the middle area, there they walked to a dark color painted pavilion with the inscriptions of some low-level formations here and there. There they met with a young man who helped them register, the man had a hooked aquiline nose and deep green eyes, his countenance was pale and he was hunchbacked, he looked to be around 25 years old as he made Yun Jhin drop some blood on a contract then he asked:

"Do you have any opinions on the job you want to get?"

The hunchbacked young man only asked in passing and he wouldn't do as Yun Jhin would say, after all, he thought that the young man would want an easy job that he could laze around in just like Chu Mang.

Chu Mang knew the hunchbacked young man talked about him when he asked Yun Jhin about what kind of job he wanted and didn't say anything as he put his head down, this hunchbacked young man had a good backing in the sect and he also had a cultivation of the 4th stage in the earthly realm, he couldn't say anything in his defense or he would be challenging the man's authority and he might even become a corpse later.

Yun Jhin slowly opened his mouth as a wronged expression appeared on his face:

"I wish.. I wish I could let my former mates from the low area to their resting place, I know it's a bit too much to ask but I feel like I owe it to them."

The hunchbacked young man eyes narrowed as he looked at Yun Jhin and said:

"You want the corpse dispenser job? this is one of the harsher jobs for the 1st stage newbies, you might even get attacked by the zombies from the cemetery, and your former mates will become zombies that you will have to destroy in the future, do you think you can do that?"

The hunchbacked young man was testing the will of Yun Jhin, Yun Jhin's eyes started to water and shake as he said with conviction in his tone, seemingly as if he was ready to put his life on the line to get this job:

"I already lost someone important to me, and I couldn't let her body to her final resting place, my father and mother usually told me that this is the most important ritual so they could get to the afterlife safely, please let me do it for the others."

The hunchbacked young man laughed as he looked at Yun Jhin and said:

"You won't last long in this sect with your mindset, very good, go haul some corpses, they should be still warm throw them in the cemetery after you hauled 100 corpses you can come to get some pills."

He waved some pills as he held them in his finger, they were food pills that were supposed to keep you full, they were better than normal food as they didn't need to be chewed and could instantly keep your stomach full for days.

Yun Jhin scoffed inside, such low-quality food pills he wouldn't even have fed his slaves in his dungeon in his former lives, Yun Jhin's eyes were curious as he looked at the food pill, the hunchbacked young man started to explain the benefits of the food pill then said:

"My name is Gamp Ping, remember the name kid, you will see me every time you haul 100 corpses, however, you only get food pills the first time, afterward you get normal food, so I suggest you keep these food pills for dark days."

Yun Jhin nodded his head quickly as Gamp Ping waved his hand indicating they could leave, Chu Mang walked away and Yun Jhin followed him slowly, Chu Mang face scrunched as he looked behind then he spat on the ground saying:

"Make sure to collect some belongings from the dead or that guy will cut your contributions, you will need proof or he will overwork you, *sigh* if I knew this before I wouldn't have accepted the guard job, he is basically making me work for free and only gives me the most basic amount of food, in the future little brother could you share some of your food with me?"

As Yun Jhin took a better look at Chu Mang he realized that he seemed quite thin under his robes and nodded his head, making friends with Chu Mang was one of his plans at manipulating the man, he needed some help inside the sect, as long as he continued cultivating inside in the future he could even take control of the sect leader and get a hold of the treasury of the sect, no matter how poor the sect was it should have some good things he could use towards his evolution. (...)

After I finished talking with Chu Mang about some miscellaneous things I went back towards the dilapidated houses and directly went and searched through each of them taking one corpse after another and throwing them outside, afterward I took the grouped corpses and started to carry them to the cemetery, Chu Mang looked with steely eyes at the sight and nodded his head at me, this only one of the few low-level places, as I walked towards the cemetery I met with other corpse dispensers who nodded at me as they threw the corpse away when we finally reached the cemetery.

Down below a mountain of rotting corpses could be seen, some of their skins were green and blistered full of pus, some of them were already skeletons, the smell that was coming from the mountain of dead bodies was nauseating, some of them even started to move, below I could feel the power of a formation pumping the corpses with death energy that could reanimate them.

I needed fresh blood and meat so I could only eat recently dead bodies for the corpse devouring cultivation technique, I ignored the decayed bodies and quickly devoured the corpse that I carried, the flesh was good but the body was also rather crunchy and dry, after all, it was a body which starved to death.

I would need at least 10 more before I could reach the second stage of the earthly realm, I licked my lips to clean them off the blood and got up from the hidden place where I devoured the corpse. (...)

Yun Jhin then continued back and forth devouring one corpse after another, after a while he was already at the second level of the earthly realm, bone-strengthening!

One needed tough internal organs then strong bones to handle the muscles that came afterward, another batch of impurities was spat out as black blood remained there it suddenly was absorbed by the ground, Yun Jhin chuckled as he looked down at the ground that absorbed his blood, the formation from below would use them to create a corpse toxin zombie, he looked forward to seeing this zombie kill some more apprentices, eating cultivators would make him stronger at a way faster pace!

Right now Yun Jhin was using the fastest and cruelest way possible to cultivate, he couldn't wait due to his status as a caterpillar, even though he was controlling the body who knew when the body's potential would end? it might not even reach the peak of the earthly realm, Yun Jhin could feel the body start to creak the stronger he made it, after all the cultivation technique he used right now was devilish and pretty taxing on the will, as the body had no will as he became a living dead that was controlled by Yun Jhin so the body couldn't cultivate the technique properly.

Technically speaking, Yun Jhin was forcefully making the body to cultivate the technique due to his connection with it, however, it might not be able to resist much further, the body had almost wasted all of his talents and without a true soul housing the body it would self destruct soon enough. (...)

Chu Mang could make a great new body, I could also reach Rank 2 or 3 of the mind-controlling caterpillar if I took ahold of him, but let's not waste this body yet, until it will explode I will still have use for it, Chu Mang body had a higher talent than Kitaro's body if it wasn't for my intervention he would have never been able to cultivate. But Chu Mang passed the talent test and even reached the second level of the earthly realm on his own. (...)

Yun Jhin already knew the next body that he would snatch. he chuckled as he finally finished carrying bodies for the day and he did as Chu Mang instructed taking some keepsakes from them and presented them to Gamp Ping, Gamp Ping grumbled under his breath as he presented the unknown caterpillar with a food pill and then waved his hand angrily telling him to leave, it seemed like Chu Mang would get in trouble for telling Yun Jhin about the keepsakes.

It was a good thing for Yun Jhin as the weaker the target the higher the chances for him to control their body, he felt glad that Chu Mang was such a fool who looked out for others, he would capitulate on that and take his body for his own!
