Chapter 152 The War For Honor
Kim Yejun had collected the two Monster Soul Stones, essential components for the highest-stakes duel soon to take place. He waved and swiftly exited the Arena. Sitting at the spectator table, he grabbed the microphone in front of him and declared, "Well everyone, I'm sure this will be a riveting battle. Hahaha. Let's hope it's entertaining enough. For those of you who can't stomach the sight, I suggest you take your leave from this place."
Hovering directly above the Arena was a hologram displaying the countdown numbers for the duel preparation, and soon enough, it began with a resounding "Three!" A loud cheer erupted from the crowd, signaling that the duel was about to start.
Both participants were only allowed to cast their skills once the duel had formally begun, so any premature reactions to the Breath would result in disqualification.
Nathan withdrew two swords from his inventory, and a grimoire floated beside him as a faint smile appeared on his face. Titus and his four comrades stood quietly, seemingly underestimating the situation.
"What the hell is he thinking?" one of them murmured. "Using a grimoire and dual swords at the same time? He'll never be able to use them all at once!"
"He's really putting on a show," another remarked disdainfully. "Does he think a magic word class is enough to take on a party with a full class composition?"
Titus took a few steps forward, brandishing his two daggers and pointing them at Nathan. "I'll beat him in five seconds," he declared, his face twisted into a disdainful smirk. "No, two seconds is enough," he added confidently.
Behind him, the tanker readied his shield, setting the example for the other roles who were preparing for their parts in the plan. Their strategy was to let Titus launch an immediate onslaught against Nathan and take him down as quickly as possible.
Nathan was at level 80, yet he was facing five opponents who all had higher levels than him. However, he was not alone; he had many soldiers under his command.
"Two!" The countdown continued.
Suddenly, a black wolf figure emerged from the shadows behind Nathan, towering four meters tall and standing protectively behind him. A hawk then flew and began to rotate in the air.
"That's the spirit beast that fought in the entrance exam; it's incredibly powerful. I can't believe he was able to acquire two such high-grade spirit beasts at such a low level," someone in the audience seats commented.
"Still, a spirit beast is just a monster. With Titus' extremely high killing potential, I'm sure those two spirit beasts won't be a problem for him," another person replied.
"One!" The countdown continued.
Nathan took a deep, steadying breath, tightly gripping his two swords. He whispered softly, "Rowena, I need you to be prepared. If an emergency arises, I want you to come and help, but make sure you stay hidden under Fang's shadow veil protection."
"Yes, my master," Rowena whispered back in Nathan's ear.
""The duel begins!"
Kim Yejun let out a loud shout as the countdown ended and the duel began. His eyes were keenly focused as he prepared to witness the arrogant amateur boy who had made a scene on his first day of attending CEHA.
Kim Yejun had an affinity with three elements and was also the mentor for the subject of elemental magic at CEHA. He was confident in his ability to use an element well and even perform magic without needing skills.
However, what he saw before him was a young boy with affinities for various elements which could not make good use of them. "He is just a stupid amateur who will never amount to anything in the future," Kim Yejun thought to himself as he saw Nathan activate all his preparation skills.
Nathan's body suddenly shifted into his Berserker form, his veins blazing with fiery embers. Smoke rose from his body, which had turned a deep red. Then, with a loud crack of lightning, he vanished into the mist that had formed in the Arena.
Anyone who witnessed the incident shuddered in shock, for Nathan displayed an immense ferocity with all the skill combinations he effortlessly exhibited. Even though some of them despised him, they couldn't help but feel awe at his prowess. "He was incredible," they murmured.
Nathan duplicated himself and appeared in various locations running simultaneously toward his four opponents. So did Fang, who attacked the four people earlier.
Meanwhile, Nathan, with the invisibility skill that he duplicated from Fang, immediately disappeared behind the shadow and also, with his bracelet artifact, immediately collected lightning strikes which he would use to give a fatal attack to Titus.
Nathan cast his elemental fire skill, "Fire Cutting Waves," and threw it at the four people on one side. In an instant, Titus appeared in front of him, nimbly throwing two daggers at Nathan's neck. However, Nathan only smiled lightly, and then, in the blink of an eye, he vanished into the mist.
The time quickly passed to seven seconds, and Fang moved agilely and swiftly, repeatedly appearing from one side, attacking, and disappearing to the other side.
"Lightning Step! Lightning Step!" Nathan shouted, using the skill to disappear and reappear in different directions, every movement in the mist indicating that Titus was there.
"Meteor Showers!" Nathan bellowed and dropped a meteor shower toward the four people who were in one position. Although the meteor debris fell multiple times, their defense seemed strong enough to withstand it.
Rowena whispered urgently to Nathan, "Master, they've used poison! We must act quickly; summon your golem and it can help to heal you!" Nathan felt his body moving more slowly as she spoke, so he forced himself out of his invisibility.
Simultaneously, one of Titus' allies charged toward Nathan while Titus himself appeared, brandishing a dagger and preparing to attack. Nathan had already collected the Lightning strikes needed to activate his ultimate skill.
"You made a big mistake coming here!" Titus sneered as he lunged at Nathan, slashing with his dagger. Thick blue smoke swirled around them from the two daggers clashing.
Nathan gave Titus a warm, reassuring smile and said, "Trust me, Titus, you're the one who'll come to regret this."
Nathan quickly leaped backward but was met with a swordsman lunging forward and slashing his sword toward him.
"Lightning Step!"
Nathan shouted as he moved with lightning speed to dodge the incoming attacks.
"Lightning Step!"
He then shot forward toward the tanker between them, and with a powerful lightning blast that seemed to shake the entire Arena, Nathan sent his attack toward the shield held by the tanker. An explosive sound echoed throughout the Arena, and the tanker was sent flying away, vanishing from sight in an instant.
