Chapter 64
Chapter 64: Not You
After the nightmare, I didn’t dare to fall asleep. I busied my mind with thinking of anything I could think; including Tom’s disappearance and the reason that dream occured.
All for one sole reason: to distract my mind from fear.
Fear was a form of weakness. But, in several cases, it could boost one’s bravery when this person was in pinch.
In this case, when I was dealing with astral beings, fear couldn’t be in my dictionary.
The more I feared them, the more they got stronger and more annoying. So, I couldn’t –wouldn’t– show them my fear.
But, still, the horror screaming got me good enough not to let me sleep. As a result, there was a pair of shadow hanging under my eyes.
“What’s wrong with you?!” Fani screamed in horror as soon as she saw me in the campus.
.....
I smiled weakly at her and sat down on the nearest bench I could reach. I laid my head on the cold tile of the table and sighed.
It felt so good on my slightly warm skin.
“Let me see!” Fani pulled me up to get me sitting straight. Her hands cupped my face as she looked at it with a serious look in her eyes. “What did you do to your baby skin?” She shrieked in disbelief and annoyance.
“I couldn’t sleep.” I swatted off her hands and laid back on the cold tiles. Tom had not come back either, so I could not sleep.
“Why?” She laid her face beside me and stared right at me.
“Nightmare.” I sighed.
“Are you a kid?” She scoffed at me.
I was too tired to argue with her, so I kept my mouth shut and closed my eyes. My class would start in an hour or so and the weather was perfect to have a nap; with grey clouds hanging in the sky which were gradually getting thicker and cold wind blowing gently.
“Are you gonna sleep here? Seriously?” Fani asked again, but I was falling deeper into my sleep that I had no strength to reply.
I still remembered she grunted a ‘fine’ under her breath before I finally lost contact with the outer world.
This time, I didn’t have any nightmares. My dream came in a fuzzy feeling and unclear. It was a normal dream, with frames skipping, and incoherent murmurs of people.
My sleep was short, but satisfying. It only took thirty minutes and by the time I woke up, I felt so fresh.
Only, since when did I get into the infirmary?
I looked around me in confusion. I was clearly sleeping under the blue mushroom in the front yard of the faculty building, why would I be here?
As I was still pondering about it, the door to the infirmary was pushed open. A familiar figure walked in and as his eyes met mine, a smile formed on his handsome face.
“You’re awake?” He said as he closed the door behind his back.
I blinked in confusion. Why would Sanji be here?
I watched as he pulled a chair closer to me and sat his butt on it. His hand twisted the cap of a bottle of water opened and handed it to me.
“Drink it. You need to stay hydrated after a good sleep.” He said gently.
I really wanted to ask him, but I chose to push the question on the second of my list to do things now. He was right, I needed to drink.
Without hesitation, I took the bottle and drank a big gulp to soothe my dry throat. As soon as the fresh water reached my throat, I could feel the effect in my previously slightly warm body. It was as if a thirsty plant being watered right in time and the almost wilted leaves came back to life.
“Thank you.” I said to him after I finished drinking almost half of the water inside the bottle.
Chuckling slightly, he said: “You drank it without any hesitation. Aren’t you afraid I put something inside?”
“Put what? Drugs? You won’t dare.” I smiled firmly.
“I have never had a contact with drugs for as long as I can remember.” He grinned innocently. “But, what if it’s not drugs? What if it was love spell?” His innocent grin was immediately wiped out by the slightly dark and taunting gaze of him.
“Love spell is only for coward and people who have no confidence with themselves. I believe you’re not a coward and obviously you don’t have any issue with self-confidence, considering you are the third hottest male in this faculty.” I calmly stated my opinion. “You could have any girls you want, you see?”
His gaze returned back to his gentle and calm demeanor after hearing my answer. His shoulders slouched a bit in dejected manner as he said in a low tone, “Apparently, not you.”
I arched my eyebrows. Was he serious?
