Chapter 116: The Fiend and the Fog
Chapter 116: The Fiend and the Fog
'The fiend inside is now in its dying moments. I advise you to enter, let me absorb its energy.'
She was about to do so, before she asked:
"When it dies, won't the death energy rise dramatically?"
'Well' the system got surprised by her question, 'sure, but isn't it waste to let only skeletons eat it?' it asked, trying to divert her attention away from proceeding with her crazy plan.
"No, this will be much better. Keep my skeletons coming and level up, and let's wait for them to finish their upgrade."
'What about me? what about your energy?' the system bellowed angrily, as it was already regretting telling her earlier about the benefits of the death fog to her skeletons.
"Don't worry, there are many more dead dogs scattered everywhere. Just a couple left for you would be enough, right?"
''
The system was speechless, as it didn't know what to say to her, however she didn't care about its silence; after all the system was glutinous, eating her energy away without telling her the reason.
She saw it was better, much better for her energy not to be wasted upon this greedy system. 'Like a man like a wife, sigh,' the system said these words which made her chuckle.
This meant Ibro was also like her, dealing with this stingy system in the same way, which made her very content and happy.
She stayed outside, while watching the mighty roars and explosions occurring inside the fog. In four more hours, the fiend inside was killed on the hands of her skeletons, and then they stayed there to gain benefit of the death fog.
"Let's go," she said, while moving with her army, growing larger each hour by the constant flow of the skeletons coming from literally everywhere. 'Aren't you going to wait for them to finish?' the system said.
"They will take a long time to completely absorb the fog, so leave them to eat it slowly."
'What about the dead fiend inside.'
"What about it?"
'Don't you want to transform it into a skeleton?'
She paused, as this idea really appealed to her. "I guess my own energy isn't enough to pull this feat, right?"
'Bingo, and you need to go and let me absorb the fog.'
"Sigh, I will let you then absorb the next one," she said, before she kept heading towards the next death fog village. it took her two days to reach there, and she was quite positive that the skeletons inside the fog had already finished absorbing it by now.
However she didn't wait for them, as she stood on the back of her phoenix and shouted at her grandiose army: Advance!
The simple, yet very domineering order came to thunder the whole world. the skeletons jumped onto the fog, entering it and started the attrition battle.
It took one day to deplete the fiend energy, and when the explosions and roars grew far in frequency, she muttered to her system:
"Be ready, greedy system."
'Hehehe.'
She was sure, very sure that the system said these words just to let it enter there and absorb the death energy. Despite her decision to let it in, she didn't let her skeletons out, instead she gave the order to other skeletons to enter.
'What are you doing? Didn't you say I can do it all alone?' the system asked with complete shock.
"I said you can have a couple on your own, but you were greedy enough to ask for half; so good luck then with your shared half, hehehe."
''
The system didn't know what to say, as it was really shocked beyond description, and it didn't see this coming.
The moment she entered the fog, she felt melancholic, as the previous experience appeared fresh in her mind. She hesitated for a brief moment, and if she was the one moving on her legs right now she might have returned back a couple of steps, however she was on the back of her phoenix and so she couldn't retreat.
She entered, and nothing happened. inside the fog, she couldn't see anything, until the system had used its ability, to kill the fiend, and absorb its energy.
At this moment, the fiend was lightened up, showing its huge and strange snake like body. it extended everywhere, like a snake coiling its body around itself, covering the whole region.
"I like it!" she said, as it seemed very majestic and unique. 'Gimme a minute and you will have it as your loyal lovable pet, satisfied?'
The system was trying to change its approach, making it soft instead of harsh, however she just smiled and said nothing. She didn't want to fall into the trap of trusting the good intentions of this system, as she was pretty sure this system was as cunning as her enemies; and greedy as well.
She stood in place watching the death fog around her swirling in circles, stirred by something. She couldn't see clearly through this grayish fog, but she was sure her skeletons entering the place right now were responsible for this.
She stayed inside for six hours, doing nothing but sitting on the back of her phoenix which was now mesmerized by the fog, madly absorbing it. through these hours, the density of the fog started to be thinner, and after six hours, she could make the general outline of the village this fog was centered around.
'You can now use your death arise skill on it,' the system said finally after six hours. She didn't wait anymore, raised her staff, pointed it towards the front before muttering:
"Death arises!"
The next moment, the whole world underneath her tumbled, and the fog itself got a great stir before it all vanished; all of sudden, as it was all absorbed by the dead fiend.
"Roar!"
The next moment, a mighty roar that made her heart shudder appeared from the bony huge skull of this giant snake. The fiend's skin was peeled off, and the whole body turned into a huge skeleton.
The snake just rose up, amidst the vanishing fog, appearing like a mythic creature coming forth from the underworld! Even Oya felt her heart clenched by a fist by the mere gaze of this fiend to her.
"I give my salute to my esteemed lady, from this day onward I shall be your weapon to kill others."
The voice it spoke with was a sound of a vicious cruel old man, adding more horror to its huge appearance. "Ok," Oya simply said that, before controlling her emotions, asking her system: "Is he safe?"
'Sure, don't worry it's now a skeleton of yours, but with much strength and sanity.'
"Ok," she replied, as she pointed to the snake as she ordered:
"I order you to take these skeletons and go towards the next fog. Kill the fiend inside, and feast upon the death energy there."
The eyes of the snake shone brightly as it hurriedly lowered its head while saying:
"Thanks for the mercy and generosity of my lady. I will move right away."
The next moment it moved, and the whole ground was cleared, showing off its huge body. it had legs, or extensions like them, while its body was much bigger than what she initially thought, coiled in layers under the ground surrounding the whole village.
When it moved away, leading the skeleton with it, she estimated its body to reach tens of miles in length. "Sigh, why are all the fiends this huge! Jognka the brutal was also this huge!"
'Jonak is much bigger than this, far stronger, and much sinister than this insect.'
The tone and the words of her system made her realize how special this fiend was. She imagined the day she would have the Jonak corpse and turn it into a huge slave for her. "Hehehe, that would be a scene to behold, hehehe."
''
The system didn't reply, while she moved on top of her advanced phoenix towards the nearby village. controlling the village and turning it into a city went smoothly with no problems at all.
"Let's follow them and see what this new skeleton of mine would do," she giggled as she moved towards the sky, with her phoenix trying to catch behind the ongoing army.
For her, from her high place, she couldn't see an end to her skeletons covering the whole world, moving in huge numbers, unhindered, and all were converging over the same direction; the direction where the next fog village lied.
Just as she was moving to catch up with the snake skeleton, she noticed many strange shaped, strong looking skeletons moving in great numbers towards the same direction.
"Are they?" she asked.
'You mean the ones who won the lottery a couple of days ago? yeah, that's them,' the system was still sore about this, and she only smiled and said nothing. She observed the skeletons, noticing their thick evolved bones, their new armors, and enhanced weapons. Even many of them got taller, broader, or gained more hands and feet.
