Chapter 30: A Distant Memory of Maya's Past
Chapter 30: A Distant Memory of Maya's Past
Maya still couldn't fully believe what this foggy version of her was saying. She believed some of what she heard, but trusting a stranger wasn't one of her traits.
Her hesitation was obvious over her features, so the foggy Maya added:
"I know you love Ibro, as I always loved him. however there is something you don't know and I need to tell you clearly about it. you aren't alone."
Maya smirked as she asked:
"What do you mean I'm not alone?"
"There are others, other wives who also love Ibro and are now in this time. they are seeking the same thing like what you are after, your beloved man," the foggy Maya said.
Maya felt more doubt, and some pain when she heard that. She guessed a long time ago that a man like Ibro would have many admirers, not wives.
She didn't think she had other women like her too, reincarnated lovers of Ibro.
"That's what you say," Maya said.
"That's the truth," the foggy Maya replied.
"A claim you can't confirm isn't a truth," Maya argued back.
Maya's logic was unbeatable, but the foggy Maya wasn't empty handed. She still had a card that she didn't use.
"So, if I confirm my allegations they will be seen as the truth, right?"
The calmness in her tone irritated Maya more, as she thought cornering this foggy thing whoever it really was would make it reveal its true nature.
However what she got in return was this calm response, a reply that felt like a trap. Wasn't she the one who asked for a proof? And yet she still felt like she fell precisely into her opponent's trap.
"Sure, show me your evidence and I will agree about your sayings."
Although she suspected a trap, she couldn't refuse to accept a response over her own demand. Maya depended entirely on one simple fact, there was nothing that could prove that nonsense of this foggy thing.
What this fog could do was to use some word games or try to convince her again. no matter what this fog said or did, Maya intended not to buy it. without foolproof evidence, she wouldn't agree to take the risk.
Her system was once invaded by demons without her knowledge, and since the day she got freed by Ibro's help she swore she would never let herself fall in the same trap ever again.
On the other hand, the foggy Maya knew what her reincarnation was thinking about. Both had the same mind, and as Maya suspected, she fell into the trap of her foggy self.
"Sure, I just want to ask about tech based universes, have you ever been to one?"
The question was meaningless for Maya as she crossed her arms as she replied with an amusing tone:
"Sure, I just came from such a universe."
"Good, then you won't be surprised by this."
Suddenly the foggy Maya enlarged with unprecedented speed to cover Maya at once without warning. Maya was about to use her sword to defend herself just to find herself standing in front of a big screen.
The screen was showing a totally wrecked place, with no sign of life anywhere. There was a lot of smoke, many dead bodies and a lot of destruction marks everywhere.
This was a place that felt familiar to her, a place of war.
"This is a past memory from my own life, I recorded it and attached it to my soul as everyone else did. what you will witness today will be a glimpse of our gathering that day.
You won't be able to see the whole memory, but I want you to watch and see by yourself the first minute of this meeting. After that let's talk."
The foggy Maya explained, and Maya held herself from laughing. How was she supposed to believe what she would see from this fog? She calmly watched the scenes of destruction out there on the screen without any emotions at all.
Until some movement appeared from far. A group of people looked like distant shadows were moving from different places heading towards the centre of the screen.
Their faces weren't clear, but she managed to count their numbers. They were twelve.
The twelve moved without care to their surroundings like they were walking in their own lands. They didn't even look around themselves, not even for once.
Maya was taking the show for fun, all until the twelve people gathered together in front of her. Their faces were clouded and she couldn't see or recognize any of them.
However just as she was having her time, the veil was suddenly removed off three of them. three faces appeared in front of her, one she didn't recognize and two she were very familiar with, her own face and Ibro.
"Rioneed, everything is lost. The universe coalition has already lost the war on all fronts," the one with the face of Maya said to Ibro, however she called him Rioneed.
"Every battle was lost, all except here," the man with Ibro's face and Rioneed name spoke.
"Not again, you are speaking with mambo jambo things of yours," Maya said with an intensified tone.
"Maya, my love," Rioneed then moved to stand in front of her as he took her hands and touched the two softly with his own. He then muttered:
My love, you were my first and you know me better."
Maya's eyes were full of tears as she turned her face away to look towards the third person whose face was revealed with the two as she said with bitterness and great regret:
"I was the first, and she is the last. You put all of us into ruins the day you chose to love a demon girl."
Her words were true, true to the degree that the real Maya felt the same bitterness and anger inside her. Even her eyes were full of tears.
That wasn't an illusion, she wasn't affected by what she heard. Her tears came from a deep pain inside her soul. The memory stopped abruptly at this moment, as her eyes were focused on one person.
The third unknown lady who was the focus of her image accusations, the demon girl, her face was the last thing that stuck in her mind after the end of this memory.
"Who was she?"
The foggy Maya seemed to be irritated by this memory and this girl.
"She is called Oya, and she was the root of everything that happened to us."
