When Thea passed the gate, a short tunnel in the thick wall, what entered her view made her stop dead in her tracks.
What she saw, was basically her embodiment of a fantasy city. The street, the gate led to, was large and wide, allowing people and carriages to travel about, shop stalls lined the streets left and right and people of many races occupied themselves with many activities while wearing many different types of clothes.
Lily, having felt that both girls had stopped following her, turned behind her and saw the pair gazing around. Lily giggled at their innocent faces before she called for them.
"Girls! We still need to walk a while, try to stick close." Lily shouted with a smile, as she needed to, with all the buzz around them.
"Mommy, is the whole city like this?" Thea asked curiously, having caught up with her mother.
"No, it's just here, the further into the city you go, the more higher end things become. Here, especially at the 4 gates, you can find many street stalls lining the main streets leading to the center of the city. If we walk for half an hour we will reach the indoor shops, that's where some merchants sell their products, then another half hour we need to pass another wall and we will be in the noble district, that's where all fancy stores are, naturally also where nobles live and all the way in the center of the city is the castle, with another wall surrounding it." Lily explained as she led the girls through the streets.
"Tomorrow, I suggest you and Mia look around the streets but I warn you, the further you get from the main streets, the more shady things become. The center of these areas we call the 3 shadow districts, mainly because there isn't any guard patrols and the more lawless citizens live and work there. You can find illegal slave shops, drugs, rape and murder there. I ask that for now, you both don't go around there." Lily warned with a smile that wasn't quite a smile.
Thea and Mia, who was next to her, both gulped and nodded quickly.
"Good girls." Lily said with a real warm smile now, as she patted the two girls on the head.
"Alright, we still have a bit to go. In a few minutes we will pass the adventurers guild, I suggest you both get yourselves registered, as I'm guessing you don't have a license yet." Lily asked Mia.
"Mhm, I never left the clan grounds unless it was to hunt, so I might have some experience as an adventurer but not the actual license." Mia responded.
"Alright, when you visit the guild tomorrow, tell them I suggested you, especially you dear, they might make a fuss of your age otherwise." Lily said to Thea.
"So I just need to say 'Zyla recommended us'?" Thea asked, making sure she knew which personality her mother was talking about.
'This is honestly getting a little confusing, when I should call her what.' Thea thought to herself.
"Fufu, that's right. As long as we are in this city, just use that name." Lily said with a smile.
Thea simply nodded, she had started to accept that Lily wanted to keep whatever her current identity was, a secret until they reached the house.
As Lily lead them through the streets, both Mia and Thea looked around, taking in all the city had to offer. As they followed they saw many special places they wanted to visit tomorrow, mainly food stalls and restaurants.
Thea had also noticed that the majority of the population was human about 60 percent, the other rest was mostly beast kin, in the whole hour they had been walking now, she only saw very few elves, dwarves and Amazonians.
As the inner wall to enter the noble district came into view, Thea asked Lily about the people.
"Mommy, I can see many different beast kin, but why are there so few elves, dwarves and Amazonians? I didn't even see any demons at all." Thea asked curiously.
"Well Althea, both elves and dwarves don't leave their own territory much, and Amazonians only leave their own territory if looking for a 'mate', their population exists of only females and they go out when they become an adult to travel before finding someone to copulate with before they return to their territory alone with their children." Lily explained.
"As for demons" Lily slightly frowned "You can find them more in the shadow, and red light district." Lily said.
"Red light district?" Thea asked, even though she had an idea of what it was from her past life.
"Ohh, yes, I haven't explained anything about that yet. Red light district is actually just one of the shadow districts which has been transformed from a place of murder, drugs and rape to just a place of pure skin ship. They don't allow murder and rape there like in the other shadow districts and their main source of income is prostitution and brothels. I might need to take you there when you are older." Lily said with a wink.
Thea curious about the area, nodded in response to Lily.
Seeing her daughter accept so seriously, made Lily blush as she was simple teasing Thea.
"Ahem, well let's get inside and I'll show you my home here."
