Chapter 24: Hope
Chapter 24: Hope
Shen immediately shook his head at the idea of selling the information. First of all, he did not know how to reach this place. He could not tell the buyer to jump into the God Burial as he was not sure jumping into God Burial would bring them here.
If he shared the wrong information, he would be deemed a scammer for sure. When that happened, his not-so-good reputation would take another hit.
"Money is good, but it's not worth the risk," Shen did not want to play around with the rich. The riches had a connection here and there, he did not want to get screwed, especially his already screwed real life.
"Nah, it's not like I desperately need money," Shen threw his thoughts of selling the information for money.
While waiting for the stamina to recover, the sun disappeared from the sky. The night arrived, Shen was hesitating to leave the village now.
"Should I log out and come back later?" It was general knowledge that scarier monsters would be active at night.
The chicken was already terrifying, another scarier monster would be a nightmare for him.
"Nah, let's try it again. I have nothing to lose anyway," Shen shook his head and made his way to the exit. He was still Level 1, even if he died again, he would not lose his experience or even the level.
With those thoughts, he walked out of the village. He went in the same direction where he discovered the chicken.
The forest had become increasingly dark. If not for the bright moon that hung in the sky, he might not be able to see anything. Following the same path, he ended at the same tree again.
Shen hid behind the tree and peeked out. A frown formed on his forehead as he could not find the black-feathered chicken, "Where did it go?"
He looked around, but the big chicken was nowhere to be seen, "Does it go back to the nest at night?"
Since he could not find the chicken, Shen came out of his hiding spot. However, as soon as he came out of his hiding spot, his vision blurred.
The scenery suddenly changed, then he quickly realized that he was returned to the respawn spot. He was back in the village.
He died, and he did not know how he died. He also did not know who killed him. He did not even feel any pain. That meant he instantly died.
"Oh my, what kind of monster was that?" Shen shook his head. He guessed right, the monster at night was scarier.
"I can't give up, at least I have to find out what kind of monster is that," he walked out of the village.
A few seconds later, he respawned back in the village again. Once again, he died without knowing what kind of thing killed him.
Shen did not give up, he planned to seek out what kind of creatures killed him instantly. After ten minutes of persistent effort, Shen finally caught the gist of the monster that kept killing him.
He came out of the village again, this time, he sneakily went back to the spot where he died. After countless times of trying, he finally knew something.
The attack came from above, meaning the monster was on the tree. The lush tree blocked his sight, but he cautiously looked around. He was pretty sure the monster attacked him from above.
He walked from one to another tree while looking around at the tree. The limited light made it harder to find what he was looking for.
Shen did not give up, finding out what kind of the monster while still Level 1 was for his future. Even though he kept dying, he had nothing to lose since he was still Level 1.
He needed to figure out what kind of monster was active at night since he would be living in this village from today onwards.
Shussh! Shussh!
He then heard the sound of leaves brushing, he looked toward the voice and saw a black figure lunging toward him from the tree above him. He was about to draw his sword out but his reaction was so slow. Before he could do anything, his vision blurred.
Shen respawned back to the village. He finally managed to find out what monster killed him. It was the same black-feathered chicken. He was sure that his head exploded just now.
The moment he turned around, he met with the yellow beak. He finally found what caused him to die instantly. It was the same chicken, it was just the chicken that came from above.
The black feather caused him a hard time detecting the monster in the night.
"Now I find out the thing that killed me, so what should I do now? Is there even a chance for me to kill it?" Shen felt it was impossible to kill the chicken with his current level.
"Nah, since it's the same monster, I will try to fight it to find more information about the chicken," the information of the monster would appear only when a player landed damage. He should try to land damage first.
"Yes, let's take this slowly. There's no way the developer will create an impossible situation to force the players to re-start their character," with those thoughts in his mind, Shen went out of the village to hunt the chicken. Not hunting precisely but tried to find more information about the chicken.
He came back to the same area, but he walked slowly so as not to alert the chicken. As he got closer to the area, he scanned the trees to find the chicken.
The moonlight did not help much to find the chicken, "The chicken should be around here," he looked at the spot where he died just now.
He was pretty sure the chicken came from right above him, which meant the chicken rested on that tree. Despite the information, he could not find the chicken through the distance.
Taking a deep breath, he came closer to the tree. He made sure to not make any noise. Carefully and slowly, he stood three meters away from the tree.
He was in the open as he tried to lure the chicken out of the tree. Since he could not find the chicken, he would lure it out. He had his plan, he believed it would work this time.
Shen stood there for half a minute, but the chicken did not attack him. He frowned, 'Should I make a little noise?'
He was traumatized from the continuous dying. It was quite an unpleasant experience for sure. He also believed that he held the record for the player with the most deaths in the Tribe Online.
'Nah, screw it. I have been this far, and I have a Legendary Class. I don't want to restart the character!'
With those thoughts, he raised his right foot and stomped to the ground.
Dump!
As soon as the stomp resounded, the sound of leaves brushing was heard as well. Shen was ready this time as he immediately activated his skill, [Void Step].
Swoosh!
Soon he saw a black shadow descended from the tree. The big figure lunged toward him. Shen quickly reacted and ran forward.
Even though he had gotten used to the skill, he still could not avoid his body ramming against the three in front of him.
Dukh!
He slammed to the tree, but thanks to the tree he managed to stop his rapid movement. He turned around and saw the chicken was still half a meter in the air.
"This is my chance!" Shen's eyes shone. [Void Step] was still active, he could use his quick movement to reach the chicken.
He did not waste this golden chance and rushed toward the chicken. When the chicken landed on the ground, he was right behind it.
'It's not impossible to defeat this overpowered chicken,' Shen grinned as he cast the second skill, [Draw Sword].
Swoosh!
The sword slashed through the chicken's back and the damage appeared above the chicken. The red number indicated the damage he inflicted on the chicken.
