Pokémon Court

Chapter 397: Gathering

“How is that possible?!”

Watching his Blaziken get defeated without any chance to fight back, the Trainer couldn’t react for a moment.

Blaziken, his ace Pokémon that had carried him to the top ranks of the Ever Grande Conference, had been taken down so easily?

“Go, Golem!”

Clenching his teeth in disbelief, he threw out another Poké Ball.

It was a Rock-type Pokémon whose entire body was covered in rocks, with only its head and limbs exposed. Staring into Golem’s crimson eyes, Terrance said, “If it were the previous Gallade, one attack might not have been enough to deal a fatal blow. But now… you are out of luck.”

Golem clamped its jaws shut with a low grunt, exuding a solemn aura as it stared at Gallade.

Boom!

Its powerful legs stomped the ground, sending a tremor racing toward Gallade. A glint flashed in Gallade’s eyes as it leapt into the air. But waiting for Gallade was a massive, brown boulder!

Smack Down!

“Close Combat.”

A calm voice echoed through the air. Gallade, as if anticipating the command, moved in perfect synchronicity with Terrance. The Trainer’s expression changed again, the facade of calm he struggled to maintain now shattered. The scene of Blaziken’s battle resurfaced in Golem’s battle!

He saw it all clearly this time. Gallade, facing the stones thrown by Golem, didn’t even tried to dodge or block in mid-air. Instead, it vanished in a bizarre manner once again!

And then—

“Watch out, Golem!” the Trainer shouted in alarm. But the vanished Gallade gave them no time to react, reappearing directly in front of Golem. Its raised blade-like arm was already poised to strike—

Close Combat!

Golem’s crimson eyes widened as it let out a loud roar, mustering all its strength in a desperate attempt to counterattack. But how could its speed possibly match Gallade’s?

The completion of Teleport took only an instant, including the execution of Close Combat. Everything happened in the blink of an eye. Before Golem even had time to consider how to defend, a tremendous force directly struck its abdomen!

BANG!!

The deafening sound of the impact echoed out. The challenger’s command got stuck in his throat as he witnessed an astonishing scene unlike anything he had ever seen before.

Bang! Thud! Thud! Thud!

Golem’s massive body was sent flying through the air, crashing to the ground and rolling until it collided with the wall outside the arena, finally coming to a stop.

“Hey, Ayan, how much does Golem weigh?” Scarlet asked, his voice dazed.

“At least over 200 kilograms…” Ayan muttered, estimating it to be the weight of more than five Blazikens.

“What…”

The challenger’s mouth hung slightly open. Just one move—just one move, and Golem was defeated.

He finally realized that the strength between himself and the Trainer before him wasn’t even on the same level. The reputation Terrance carried was no exaggeration. His victory wasn’t as simple as defeating one of Phoebe’s newly captured Pokémon.

A one-hit KO of his main Pokémon… Not even the Champion of the last Ever Grande Conference could have done that!

“I… lost.”

His hand, hovering over another Poké Ball, slowly lowered. Instead, he reached for another Poké Ball to recall Golem. “I lost, but I’ll be back.”

The disheartened figure didn’t give Ayan and the others a chance to speak at all, heading straight outside. Having witnessed Gallade’s strength, he directly gave up the five chances Terrance had given him!Nôv(el)B\\jnn

Even if he sent out his remaining four Pokémon one by one, they would likely all fall to Gallade’s one-hit KO.

Terrance’s skills had long surpassed the level of competing alongside the participants of the Ever Grande Conference.

“So strong,” Ayan murmured. Besides the Pokémon Contest, this was his first time seeing Terrance battle as a Trainer.

“He can win!” Chisana was the only one at Old Green House who knew that Terrance was going to be challenged by numerous Trainers. Initially, seeing the online buzz, he was a bit worried about Terrance. But after witnessing such a one-sided display of dominance against the Trainer, a surge of confidence suddenly rose within him.

….

….

That day, many Trainers from outside made their way to Fallarbor Town.

As they chatted, they realized their goals were remarkably similar: they had all come to challenge a Coordinator named Terrance.

“You don’t know who Terrance is?”

By this point, the Pokémon Center in Fallarbor Town was nearly packed, with many Trainers even resorting to sleeping on benches and sofas at night .

“Yes, I just happened to be passing through Fallarbor Town.”

“Well, you’re in luck. Someone making a public statement to accept challenges from all Trainers is rare in Hoenn. The only times I can remember were Mr. Norman and Elite Four Glacia.”

“Mr. Norman I know, the Gym Trainer from Petalburg Gym. Elite Four Glacia… wait, does that mean she’s an Elite Four?!”

“You don’t even know who the Elite Four are… Oh my gosh, how can a Trainer like you exist? Elite Four Glacia isn’t originally from Hoenn, but after training here, she made a public statement challenging every Trainer of Hoenn. You wouldn’t believe her sheer dominance—no one could stop her. She defeated every challenger one by one. It was because of this impressive display that the Hoenn League invited her to participate in the Champion League for an even higher level of competition. She ultimately fought her way to becoming one of the Elite Four.”

“Uh… Well, this Terrance guy probably isn’t as strong as Elite Four Glacia, but I heard he’s a Coordinator. The main reason for these challenges is that he happened to defeat one of Phoebe’s Pokémon in battle and earned her praise. Combined with his identity as a Coordinator, this has rubbed many Trainers of the same age the wrong way. That’s why they want to challenge him. After all, when it comes to battling, no one believes they would lose to a Coordinator.”

“So… did this Terrance guy accept the challenges?”

“That’s right, anyone else seeing so many challengers would be trying to avoid them, yet who knows what he’s thinking, he actually set a place and time, as if he’s not afraid of any challenge. Think about how many Trainers are in Hoenn? Even if he has some strength, simultaneous battles would wear him down eventually.” Inside the Pokémon Center, the people discussing the situation seemed to already see Terrance’s defeat.

“So that’s what happened. I’m really lucky that I am here for this!”

As the Trainers gathered in Fallarbor Town to challenge Terrance, they suddenly received another surprising piece of news that left them stunned.

The day before the challenge date set by Terrance, a newly established Gym in Fallarbor Town is actually going to have its official certification issued by the League and hold its grand opening ceremony?!

“A Gym?!”

“And the Gym Trainer… is Terrance?!”

This matter isn’t a secret if you ask the residents of Fallarbor Town. Many people flocked to the site of the Fallarbor Gym, but they found it closed off and could only return in disappointment, waiting for tomorrow’s arrival.

After the earlier incident with a hot-headed challenger, Ayan and the others quickly decided to close the Gym to avoid further trouble. Yet all of this only made Fallarbor Town feel like a storm was brewing.
