Primordial Expanse: I have the Strongest Talent!

Chapter 380: The plot thickens

"It can't be…"

The tall figure slowly turned his face to the shorter figure, his voice laced with deadly intent.

"It's dead."

The shorter figure's eyes widened in horror.

It seemed so unbelievable to him that even with the taller figure confirming it, he still couldn't believe it.

It was the King of Evermoor! It was literally one of the strongest creatures in the entire Evermoor forest, hence its name.

Yet somehow, it was dead…

The tall figure stood frozen for a moment, the enormity of the situation crashing down on him.

They had used this beast for the last month to kill off any outsider prodigies they had encountered, yet now the impossible had happened…

And now Alex and Mira, the ones they had deemed to be insignificant, were now at the centre of such an era defining event for the human race.

As the silence stretched on, a new kind of tension filled the air, thick and dangerous. The shorter figure glanced up at his taller counterpart, fear and confusion etched across his face.

"This… this wasn't supposed to happen," the shorter one muttered, his voice trembling. "How did they —"

He was cut off by a sharp movement from the tall figure. In an instant, a suffocating wave of murderous intent filled the room.

The shorter figure's eyes widened in realisation of what had happened, but it was too late.

The tall figure lunged forward, faster than the eye could follow, his hand reaching for the shorter figure's throat.

He needed to clean this up — now. There could be no loose ends that led back to him.

If word got out that this mission had been manipulated, and that he had been at the helm of it, it could lead to devastating results for his people.

Now that he knew Alex and Mira were such monsters, it had to be reported to his higher ups desperately with the highest urgency.

"No!" the shorter figure gasped, his instincts kicking in.

He scrambled to defend himself, barely managing to block the tall figure's hand with his forearm, but the force of the attack sent him crashing into the wall and slamming right through it, bringing the whole cabin down on top of them.

"W-what are you doing!?" he screamed, but the tall figure's eyes were cold and unyielding, his next attack already poised to strike.

"I can't have you running your mouth," The tall figure said, his voice cold as ice.

His hand shot out again, this time aimed directly at the shorter figure's chest.

But the shorter figure, driven by a surge of desperation, managed to swing his arm up at the last second, defecting the blow and throwing his fist toward the tall figure's head in a wild, frantic motion.

Smack!

The blow connected, catching the tall figure squarely on the temple.

The force wasn't anywhere near enough to seriously injure him, but it was enough to knock him off balance.

As he stumbled back, the hood that had concealed his face fell away, revealing something that made the shorter figure freeze in confusion.

The tall figure's skin was an unnatural shade of crimson, his eyes growing a sinister yellow, and sharp, inhuman facings gleamed from his partially opened mouth.

"You're not a human…?" the shorter figure whispered, his confusion evident.

"What… are you?"

The shorter figure was a native, so he had absolutely no idea about the goings on of the outside world, which made his reaction to seeing a Red Demon be his first encounter with them.

For a brief moment, everything stopped.

The shorter figure, now realising the identity of his companion wasn't who he thought it was, felt his blood run cold.

The Red Demon sneered, his yellow eyes glowing with a mixture of annoyance and malice. "You shouldn't have done that."

Before the shorter figure could react, the Red Demon moved with blinding speed, closing the distance between them in the blink of an eye.

His hand wrapped around the shorter figure's throat, lifting him off the ground effortlessly.

"Please!" the shorter figure choked, his hands clawing desperately at the demon's arm. "I won't say anything!"

But the Red Demon's grip tightened, his fangs bared in a cruel smile. "It's not about what you'll say," he growled, his voice low. "It's about ensuring you won't be a problem."

With a sickening crunch, the Red Demon squeezed, and the shorter figure's body went limp.

The lifeless body dropped to the floor, and the Red Demon watched it crumple with an expression of mild disdain.

He glanced back at the blood on his hands and wiped them from the cloak he wore.

"This changes things…" he muttered to himself, his mind already racing.

Although he looked tough and scary on the exterior, inside all he felt was panic and fear.

Not only had Alex and Mira thrown his plans into disarray, but it had also revealed a terrifying foe for the Red Demon race to face.

The young boy and girl were far more dangerous than he or any of his higher ups had anticipated…

There were only a few beings in the entire Red Demon race who could kill King class beings at their own rank, and all of them were King class beings themselves.

Save for the first prince, who had once killed a King class being of his own rank back when he was only a Variant class.

The Red Demon turned to what remained of the door of the cabin, his mind already formulating a way to leave the Primordial Expanse and report his findings as quickly as possible.

He would have to move quickly, if he didn't take action immediately then for all he knew, Alex and Mira could be the first ones to leave this place, and then they would have the jump on the Red Demon race.

'First I'll go deal with that little runt dwarf the two of them made a deal with, I can't have them become even stronger than they have already revealed themselves to be.'
