Chapter 14: 14.To The Queen’s Lair
Chapter 14: 14.To The Queen's Lair
TAP! TAP!TAP!TAP!
The sound was faint yet it created a ripple in the hearts of those who heard.
Hector and Helena stood bowing their heads unable to look properly into the eyes of a young man who sat folding his legs, with hands resting on the armrest and his chin leaning on the hand.
Hector was still dismayed, pondering if this was an illusion or if he was hallucinating as in just two days, the person who behaved like an irresponsible teen unable to control his hormones changed to someone who carried an irrefutable authority with a devilish charm.
Charming yet carrying sinister vibes that make one leg weak.
Hector almost had a heart attack as after waking up, he found himself alone in the hospital with nothing but his smartphone.
He was really scared of what mess this boy might have caused. Fortunately, he had returned home straight, not stirring any trouble.
"Hector, so what did you say to her?"
Hector's heart chilled hearing this.
"I haven't spoken to my Mistress since two days ago."
"As long as I don't create trouble for my family or specifically for that so-called sister, I am free to do as I wish, no?" Leon asked.
"N...Technically yes."Hector was about to refute but changed his words as Leon started pulling out something from his pocket.
"Hmmm!"Leon nodded, putting back his weapon, and looked at Helena who shrunk back in fear.
Can he believe them?
Absolutely fucking not...
He didn't need to kill others as long as they adhered to his will.
He can kill a lot but he makes sure to adhere to the principle so that he doesn't get drowned in darkness but that doesn't mean that he was an angel of justice or hero wearing a cape of justice.
He decides his kill on two condition
First, if the person is evil...
Second, if the person offends him or causes trouble for me.
"Hector and Helena, if you get a call. Tell her, I don't care. It's better if they just expel me from the family, I don't care. If you want to inform her about my whereabouts, I don't give a damn but there are some things which I don't want to leak.."
Leon stared at the two with a sweet gentle smile. He would do important things secretly hiding from them but as for others, he needed the help of someone.
"We understand."Hector and Helana bowed their heads.
"How are your fighting skills?"
"We both are trained but we aren't cultivators," Helena informed.
"Then did you look for the thing I asked for?"
"I have."Hector nodded in relief and gave a brief.
"I see. So, tomorrow is the competition huh?"Leon rubbed his chin.
'I still need to get used to this body.'
"Put my name in the lot. I am gonna participate in the match and you two will accompany me to have some fun."
"Young Lord, what name should I put in?"Hector asked.
"Use my own or just use Hunter!"Leon answered nonchalantly. He was never good at names to begin with.
..........
On the night of 31st December...
Where the world was going wild and celebrating for the upcoming year, Leon arrived at Maple's District.
Away from the bustling city, at the edge of Aetheria, this place was controlled by mafia gangs.
The place was filled with bars, casinos, and security companies that take assassin orders in disguise.
Despite illegal activities, the place was running openly and was like a forbidden zone for the police.
The area was controlled by three groups.
Nightshade consortium.
Eclipse Cartel.
Twilight Alliance.
Behind them, there were surely big families supporting them to do their bids.
Even in his previous life, during the killings, he was astonished to find the petty criminals collecting money were dogs of big companies and politicians.
And this was where they got money to expand their business and fight in the election respectively.
Outside of the three, there was a neutral organization handled by the Queen of Underground named Sophia which no one dares to offend.
Not even big families with a lot of forces behind them try to create trouble.
Leon didn't know the reason but could only guess that either she had a profound mysterious background or a high cultivation.
But...
In the end, she was just a fruit waiting for time to ripe until a protagonist would pluck her up and she might be shielded by the plot armor saving her from destruction.
With the arrival of the night, the holographic neon light lit up densely blooming fireworks and rows of supercars endlessly roared throughout the place.
In the middle of the district, there stands a building that leads to a huge underground circular stand below the ground.
"This place is the true representation of the nightlife of hooligans."Leon chuckled as he made his way through the crowds followed by Helena and Hector.
Leon could hear the familiar bloody smell lingering in the air with rows of people screaming for more blood.
Standing among the frenzy crowds, Leon stared at two boxers fighting ferociously in the ring.
However, except for boxing, they were using every other technique.
Large display screens were placed over the roof displaying the close-up of the match.
Leon turned his attention toward many black VIP boxes screaming for authority and power.
No matter if they were corporation descendants, children of wealthy businessmen, or bigwigs, all would gather to have fun in this District.
"Does this place hold a game every day?"Leon asked, looking around.
"Of course," Hector said."This place is full of gamblers who want to get rich overnight and rich second-generation spending money like water."
"Have you come here before?"Helena asked with a frown to which Hector averted his gaze with a guilty look.
"Oh! That's the reason you sorted things so quickly."Leon clapped his hand."Tell me what you know?"
"The maximum range for someone to participate is Martial Disciple level. They are paid more and wagers go high. Boxing matches are divided into divisions into ranks."Hector continued briefing.
The highest division of fighting was the Tiger class. It begins with lightweight, middleweight, and heavyweight followed by the Tiger class.
A martial disciple can directly skip and fight with a Tiger class but for others, they have to go from a lower to higher if they manage to win through the division and survive.
A newcomer no matter his Tier rank had to begin from lightweight and anyone can participate if he thinks he has the guts to do so.
However, special events were held on special occasions like today.
There would be a battle royal with a grand prize of 10 million excluding the wagers. All the participants would be newcomers and would win the grand prize.
The winner might also get a contract and all other benefits like having the protection of the Queen Of the Underground.
Hearing the name, Leon asked the system.
"Are there any protagonists or villains here?"
[None.]
'Hmm! It seems they are busy fucking around on the eve of the new year but knowing those perverts I thought they might be enjoying one of those VIPs."
"Is Sophia a heroine?"
[Yes]
"Good! I can probe her a bit then."
'The heroines of the underground are linked with soldiers or mercenary kings but since his journey begins from abroad, his route hasn't begun here. Meanwhile, the villain might strike her down soon either by force or through some favor.'
Leon, who was observing the bloody matches, suddenly heard the announcement for new boxers to come to the locker room and prepare for the match.
"Young Lord, here is the pass but what is your aim for com..."
Leon snatched it and ordered Hector, cutting his words.
"Hey, along with my money, you can bet yours. Rest assured, we will be rich before the new year."
"And yeah, if you don't do what I say and bet on anyone else then I will bash dozens of bottles on that shithead of yours."
"I think I am not suitable for this place. I should go back and sleep."Helena turned back to leave and heard Leon's warning.
"You too Helena."
"Stay here and watch over this fool."
"....."
