Chapter 51 - That Bitch
At the SSDA branch near the Heren City, a lightning bolt struck on the rooftop and the girl in the raincoat dropped on her knees, panting.
"Is that the Spirit of illusion or a new one?"
Detecting her arrival, the door to the rooftop opened and Fey with an umbrella came out.
"Lady Seres!"
The girl in the raincoat is obviously Seres, the Condign.
Seres stood up when Fey sheltered her under the umbrella.
"Lady Seres... how did you use a Spirit?" Fey then took Seres' wrist and saw a bracelet, "No, more importantly, are you sure no one saw you!?"
Thinking about the girl that was with Teren, Seres shook her head, "No one."
"Oh god... if the higher-ups learned about this, we're doomed..."
Fey wanted to cry.
"Also, the bracelet is still in effect... h-how?"
"It can only restrain three Spirits at once, after all."
"Huh?" Fey paused, not understanding what Seres said.
'There's a limit?'
"Do you mean... you have four Spirits...?" Fey quivered.
But Seres didn't answer.
"I didn't know that the constraining bracelets have a limit. Normally, a Condign or an Aberrant only have one Spirit."
"Of course, there's a lot more, Miss Fey."
As they go into their office, Fey had her eyebrows creased.
'Her behavior changed... I wonder what's her relationship with that Teren Hark?'
With that thought, she asked.
"So, did you meet him?"
Seres nodded with a frown.
Fey wanted to know more, however, seeing Seres' power, she didn't want to overstep the line. She didn't know that this rookie Condign is a monster.
From what they saw, they concluded that she has the Spirit of Storm, which is already a terrifying Spirit but even though she wore the bracelet, she can still use it.
'Why did our superiors bring such a Condign on our little branch?'
"Also, Miss Fey, confirm Teren Hark's identity in the records."
"But there are only two reports..."
"I will give the third report, a more detailed one."
...
The clouds soon dispersed, showing the night sky.
After taking a hot shower, Teren was contemplating.
"There's something wrong with that girl..."
However, his mind soon focused on another thing as he saw his wet bag.
"No..." he groaned.
Opening it, he wished only the bag itself was wet and not the inside. but the inside too was wet.
At the same time, he opened his phone and saw messages.
"Wait, why are there two?"
He first looked at Iesa's messages, asking him a lot of things. At lightning speed, he answered them all and replied with a smile on his face.
Afterward, he looked at the second message. It was an unknown number.
[Hello, Teren, it's Catherine.]
"Ah... yeah, I gave her my number. Maybe, she will finally talk about what they want.
[Hi, what do you want?]
Being straightforward, Teren didn't know the text he sent was cold.
Meanwhile, at Catherine's house, she was panicking whether she sent a too simple or too casual or too straightforward or does it lacks formality- anyway, she was just having a nerve-wreck.
'Damn you, Mike. How could you let a girl do this!? So what if I'm the one who got his number? I didn't know you could be so coward!'
She punched her pillow out of frustration when her phone dinged.
"Must be Mike asking the message again..." she muttered but when she opened her phone, she froze before stuttering, "H-h-here it is!"
"Catherine, don't shout, it's already night."
"Sorry, mom!"
Catherine then looked at the message and read.
"What do I want?"
She shivered.
Teren then received another two messages. He looked at Iesa first, of course, then at Catherine.
The two talked about the deal Teren said. Catherine also included the benefits they can give such as protections from disturbance and so on.
"Wow, she kept giving me deals." but Teren didn't hate it. In fact, he would love it if the students' malice was removed off of him.
Getting attention is already bad, getting bad kind of it is worse.
So with all that said, Teren agreed, entering a partnership of co-benefits to Mike and Catherine.
[Are you doing something?] Iesa suddenly messaged.
[Nothing much, why?]
[Your replies are taking longer now, just curious.]
[Oh, that's because Catherine is also texting me. Sorry about that.]
"What?"
Iesa's eyes widened while her hands trembled.
"That bitch..."
Teren scratched his head since Iesa was still not replying for a few minutes now. It might not be much but they have already spent hours texting with instant replies. A few minutes are now that long for them.
One thing to add was that for every text, they would send a fitting emoji.
[Is something wrong?]
[Nothing... but what's you and Catherine talking about?]
[About the deal we talked the other day.]
"Oh... huuu~ so that's it. I thought she's flirting with him." Iesa sighed.
The night passed by and the sun rose up. And Teren's day began by receiving-
[Goodmorning] sun emojis*
"Heh..."
....
"Yo, Nathan, did you establish contact with Boss Hark?"
A muscled man wrapped his arm around Nathan, Nick's big brother.
Nathan widely smiled as he replied.
"Temp Boss, not only did my brother establish contact, Boss Hark said he's willing."
The "Temp Boss" Nathan called had an excited face.
"Seriously!? You better be not joking with me, Nathan. I may only be temporary but I'm still the Gang Boss right now."
"I know, I know. So to be safe, we only received an oral confirmation. Whether Boss Hark will really come or not is up to him. You know that no one controls that devil."
The Temp Boss furrowed his eyebrows.
"Actually, how did you know that Boss Hark's called The Devil Himself? I'm sure that Boss Hark is not the person to give himself the title or did you create that?"
Nathan shook his head.
"I don't blame you for not knowing, Temp Boss. You're not there when we tried to raid his house. It was the former-former boss, the Ogre that called him that. When he learned who Boss Hark is, he just... shivered and kept repeating 'The Devil Himself, the Devil Himself....' honestly, I almost shat my pants when the Ogre died."
"Now, I'm getting curious. I don't know the Ogre that much. Let's talk to others who's a bit close to him."
"Sure."
"And don't call me Temp Boss, call me Boss Sik."
