Chapter 60 System Space I
Once He Yuan appeared in the system space, he walked over to the corner of the room and, just like before, he curled himself into a ball. Next, he dozed off.
888 stared at his host for a while before rolling his eyes and disappearing out of the system space.
When He Yuan woke up, 888 was nowhere to be found so he crossed his legs and focused on mentally removing himself from Li Yexi's life experience. It still wasn't easy.
After what felt like hours and seconds at the same time, he opened his eyes and looked down at his body. His soul was still frail but it wasn't so thin anymore.
He breathed a sigh of relief before clicking on his stats panel. Time to check his rewards.

[You Have Received 15 Attribute Points]
35K exp points! He Yuan trembled in excitement. He looked down to his soul energy and his excitement increased. As compared to other attributes, his soul energy went far ahead which goes to prove just how beneficial absorbing that cultivator's soul was.
Before, his soul was so thin that if you didn't look close enough, you'd miss his transparent figure. Now although he was still very much transparent, he would not be so easily overlooked.
888 reappeared at that time to see He Yuan checking out his soul form in extreme excitement. When He Yuan noticed the system, he rushed over to him happily.
"I got 35K exp points!"
888 wanted to scoff at He Yuan's childish behaviour in disdain. It was just 35K exp points, a pitifully small number, is there any need to be so excited? But when he looked into his host's sparkling doe eyes, he swallowed down the spiteful words that were about to leave his lips. "Not bad," He said instead.
"Quick, take 3K exp points and open the system marketplace!" He Yuan said. He'd been wondering what kind of stuff was sold there.
888 activated his own panel and unlocked the system marketplace with He Yuan's points.
When the market interface appeared on He Yuan's panel, the sparkle in his eyes increased.
There were hundreds of millions of stuff! He felt dizzy just from looking at them; martial arts manuals, hunger relieving pills, weapons, books, intelligence pills, mental fortitude cultivation manuals, clothes, furniture, halos...
There were so many that He Yuan couldn't take them all in. That is until he checked the price. He froze and his eyes widened. What was this?
The cheapest martial arts manual cost 3,500,000 exp points. As for mental fortitude cultivation manuals, the cheapest cost 5,000 merit points. His merit points still read zero, he didn't even know how to get merit points so where on earth was he supposed to get 5K merit points from?
His earlier enthusiasm dampened just as quickly as it came and he glared at 888 like all this was the system's fault.
"Don't look at me like that, I'm not responsible for setting the price," 888 said with an eye roll.
He Yuan sighed and looked at the list again before clicking on furniture. Surprisingly, the items here were dirt cheap. Maybe because they were items that didn't do much in improving the overall power of the taskers.
He spent 500 exp points on decorating his space. The metallic tint of the walls were changed to pure white with green splashes of paint on it, the floor was changed to light green marble tiles with forest design.
Next, he bought a fluffy looking queen sized bed with white beddings and green drapes, an oak office table with light brown finish, just like the colour of wood, and a leather chair of the same colour. He placed a brown book shelf next to the office table and lastly, a brown wardrobe with a built in dresser and mirror.
After looking at his refurbished space, he sighed in satisfaction and rushed over to bury himself in his queen sized bed. It felt so comfortable~
He really wanted to buy tons of other stuff but the space was not big enough to contain everything so he had to make do with this.
As if reading his mind, 888, who was now seated on the leather chair with one leg crossed over the other said, "The higher your level, the more space you would be allocated."
He Yuan smiled and with renewed vigour, he continued his purchase. There were tons of medicinal books available in the marketplace. The books that could directly improve the soul quality of the taskers cost a fortune but as for medicinal books that were gathered from many different realms, they cost just 1 exp point for each.
This must be because the knowledge found in these books could be useful in the tasks realms but were basically useless here in the system space. He immediately regretted spending 100 exp points in converting those medicinal books to data in his last realm.
Each book contained medicinal knowledge found in a particular class of realm so he bought 100 books from the most popular class of realms. Satisfied with his purchase, he sent the new books and the ones he had converted to the book shelf and they all fit in perfectly.
Next stop, clothes. He'd died in his sleep so right from the moment he stepped foot in the system space, he'd been wearing his pyjamas. His eyes trailed to 888 who was looking at him in amusement, he glared at the system and turned away.
It wasn't like he chose to die whilst he slept anyways. He purchased a white dress shirt, black jeans, a pair of shiny black boots, a black choker with silver lining and an obsidian watch. He might have been a CEO in his origin realm, but he was very much interested in fashion.
He'd spent the first half of his life in rags whilst looking longingly at people who could afford to dress fashionably, so when he finally got to where he needed to be, he never disappointed himself.
He was about to take off his PJs when he locked eyes with 888. The system was still looking at him in amusement.
"Pervert," He Yuan whispered under his breath as he walked over to the dresser attached to his wardrobe and pulled the curtain close.
After dressing up, he tucked half of the dress shirt into his jeans and popped the first two buttons open. He ruffled his hair a bit, inspected his work in the mirror and nodded in satisfaction.
He was still a thin soul but at least he no longer looked as if he belonged to the wandering ghost kind. He walked out of his dresser to continue the last of his purchase.
"Not bad," 888 said with a small smile.
He Yuan rolled his eyes. "I know." Then he bought a bunch of other clothes. In total, he'd spent 300 exp points on clothes.
He was about to move on when his eyes caught something. Soul incense. He frowned slightly. What does that mean? As a soul, he had no sense of smell, taste or touch -except touching his own skin- but he could feel the clothes on his skin and he felt the softness of the bed earlier.
That meant that the items in the marketplace were meant to cater to the needs of the soul. He clicked on the description. The soul incense had qualities that calmed the soul and eased the burden of the mind.
He Yuan's eyes widened. This seemed to be good stuff. He had low mental fortitude so he was quite prone to mental attacks and anxiety.
If it was truly as they claimed, then it would truly help to ease the mental burden he had to cope with after each task realm.
