Chapter 87 - 87 Arrival
Chapter 87: Chapter 87 Arrival
Qi Yue left the space and lay back on the bed of the inn, listening to the voices outside.
It turned out that Qu Wei’s headache had struck again, and now he was in such pain that he was desperately waiting for her to save his life.
In the darkness, she curled her lips into a slight smile.
Indeed, it was the middle of the month, which was precisely the day Qu Wei’s illness would flare up.
“Doctor Qi, Doctor Qi, can you hear me? Please save my master.”
Just as the people outside were about to break down the door, Qi Yue slowly got up and opened it.
“One should seek treatment early on; who gets up after going to sleep?”
“Doctor Qi, please save my master; he really can’t hold on any longer.”
It turned out that they had brought medicine with them, but that medicine was only suitable for regular consumption. When the illness struck, a different medicine had to be mixed on the spot, but now that Huang Zai’an was not around, there was no medicine, and naturally, they could not cope.
There was no way she could refrain from taking action, even if just for the sake of the trust Guan Yidao had placed in her before leaving, Qi Yue could not stand by and watch a man die in agony.
Following Qu Wei’s attendant, they wound through two courtyards before reaching where he stayed.
Qi Yue looked at this somewhat remote location and couldn’t help but snicker.
It seemed that this fellow knew he would fall ill tonight, so he had specifically chosen a good place, to avoid scaring others with his ghostly howls and wolfish cries.
Sure enough, upon entering his courtyard, she heard a painful roar.
“Ah… Bang…”
There was a continuous clatter, indicating that Qu Wei had been in pain for a while, and many things had already been smashed.
Qu Wei’s attendant hurriedly entered to announce their arrival, but before he could speak, he was choked by Qu Wei.
The man had already lost his senses due to the pain.
Qi Yue walked over and pierced twelve silver needles directly into the top of his head.
Qu Wei immediately let go of the neck he was holding, and sat up straight.
Then, Qi Yue used her unique technique to make the silver needles vibrate with a buzzing sound. When the noise abruptly stopped, Qu Wei also regained his clarity.
“You’ve arrived.”
Qi Yue did not respond. She put the silver needles back into her sleeve and then slowly stretched out a hand.
“The consultation fee is one thousand taels of silver.”
“Isn’t it a bit much to charge a consultation fee given our relationship?”
With the pain gone, Qu Wei was in high spirits and starting to babble again.
Qi Yue rolled her eyes.
“I have nothing to do with you.”
Qu Wei had the stunned attendant fetch the silver, and once Qi Yue had the silver in hand, she left.
The attendant was sensible and escorted her back to where she was staying before departing.
She didn’t know that after she left, Qu Wei instantly transformed into a different person.
He gripped the attendant’s neck tightly, his eyes filled with fierce ruthlessness pierced with murderous intent.
“Who told you to call her?”
“My lord, we had no choice, you were in such a bad state.”
“Didn’t I say, even if I were to die in agony tonight, she must not see me in this state!”
“My lord, staying alive is what matters! If you die, how will you get your revenge?”
Qu Wei was taken aback for a moment, then his face suddenly lit up with a glow as he muttered “revenge” and immediately let go of the attendant.
The moment the attendant was freed, he immediately asked with concern.
“My lord, how do you feel now?”
Qu Wei touched the top of his head and then shook it.
“It doesn’t hurt at all now!” he said, his face alight with surprise. “No, it feels as if I never felt any pain at all before, and my mind is completely clear.”
Seeing this, his attendant immediately began to add fuel to the fire.
“Sir, I think Miss Qi Yue is far more effective than that old man. You didn’t see it, but that needle earlier, it was as if assisted by the gods themselves; that’s not something an ordinary person could do!”
“Sir, why not just give up going to Western Chu? Tomorrow, keep Miss Qi Yue here to treat you.”
“Keep her here? Easier said than done.” He sneered and waved his hand dismissively. “Send the word, we proceed with the original plan.”
“Understood.”
The next morning, when Qi Yue and Zhang Fang set out, they realized that Qu Wei had already left at some unknown point, leaving a message with the shopkeeper to meet in ten days.
Zhang Fang frowned upon hearing this. He was thoroughly fed up with Qu Wei, especially after seeing him orbiting around Qi Yue, wanting nothing more than to clean his clock on behalf of his young master.
Qi Yue, however, was indifferent. Although Qu Wei was annoying, the Zhao Family was in Longnan County, and since he was the supervisor of Longnan County, she had to maintain appearances.
The thought of Zhao Xiyan left her with mixed feelings.
Having lived twice, in the end, she’d become obsessed with love.
That divorce paper was right in her bosom, yet she was still traveling thousands of miles for Zhao Xiyan’s leg.
By the afternoon of the same day, they had set foot on the land of Western Chu, and the journey had been smooth so far, but an unexpected incident occurred.
Entering Longnan Ridge from Western Chu required passing a border city. At the checkpoint, they were stopped by soldiers of Western Chu, suspecting them to be spies from another country because their pass was deemed suspicious.
The pass had been issued when they were getting clothes and had no issues, so Qi Yue guessed that the soldiers had noticed the military markings on Zhang Fang and the others.
Indeed, including Zhang Fang, all fifty of them were detained, with only Qi Yue allowed to pass through safely.
Faced with this situation, Qi Yue really wanted to walk away and enter the Western Regions of Longnan Ridge alone.
However, thinking of Master Huang Zai’an’s words, she managed to suppress her agitation.
The horn of the White Rhino was very important, but that was under the premise that she was still alive.
Having no other options, she had to go back to the small city to figure out how to rescue Zhang Fang and the others.
A little silver was all it took to find out the situation.
The soldiers guarding the gate said that many strangers had appeared in the small city recently. For safety, they had arrested anyone who looked suspicious. Getting released was easy though; one just needed to find a guarantor within the city and pay a little money, then they could be set free immediately.
This left Qi Yue in a difficult position, as she was a stranger in a strange land. Where could she possibly find a guarantor? It was almost laughable.
After much thought, she still found the idea of breaking into the jail to be an easier solution.
Zhang Fang and the others were soldiers; just give them a weapon and they could fight their way out.
She had weapons too. In the Yongzhou Government Office, she had seized over ten thousand arms.
However, the person going into the jail to deliver the weapons, which was likely to be her, had a great chance of revealing her strength.
Teleportation, Innate Divine Strength, Poison Pill—these trump cards, she didn’t want to reveal any of them, especially not in front of Zhang Fang and the others.
As the evening approached, if she wanted to rescue them, she would have to act at midnight. Qi Yue couldn’t think of a better solution for the moment and decided to find a place to rest first.
The small town in Western Chu was aesthetically pleasing, with buildings made of stone that evoked the feeling of medieval castles. Wandering through the streets, Qi Yue momentarily felt as if she had returned to her previous life.
She didn’t snap back to reality until she had walked down five streets.
Seeing an inn ahead with a sign for specialty snacks, Qi Yue’s interest was piqued, and she walked in.
Initially worried about stumbling upon a shady establishment, she was relieved upon seeing the inn’s interior decor.
Money truly talks; even the counter was made of gold, and the shelves holding liquor behind the counter were trimmed in gold as well.
Although this ostentatious display clashed with the stone exterior, it looked incredibly opulent.
No sooner had she finished marveling than a head popped up from behind the counter.
“Kind sister?”
“Song Gensheng?”
