Chapter 49 - Trust Is Expensive
Chapter 49 - Trust Is Expensive
Qin Hua did not hesitate any longer and sprang into action. She kicked her heels and dashed forward leaping into whatever patch of darkness that she could find.
She reached the elevator before it could fully close and stopped the doors with her own body.
Growl!
Everyone was startled including Lu Chen and Guan Ye, especially the little kid but Qin Hua did not bother explaining her actions. Not that she could.
Without stopping there, she directly went for the little kid and used her paw to rip his head off.
"Ahhhh!"
The kid screamed, his eyes filled with shock, but Qin Hua had already sliced his small body into two halves, each falling down on the ground with a thud and blood filling the small space.
Her actions were so decisive and ruthless that people watching her couldn't help but shriek loudly. Even Guan Ye was taken aback at the sudden development.
"That dog has gone crazy. Kill it. Kill it." The woman who was protecting the child earlier screamed and started crying.
"What the hell man? Why is this beast here?" Another one shouted.
Both Alex and Xu Meilin also had horrid expressions. None of them could take a small defenseless child being killed like this.
However, Qin Hua's eyes were fixated on Lu Chen and coincidentally, she also had a petrified expression on her face.
She had forgotten. She had almost forgotten how terrible humans were. She had acted fast and yet she was too late.
Standing in front of her, Lu Chen had a dazed look in his eyes. He was like one of the women upstairs who was perpetually lost, their souls sucked out.
[No! No! No!] Qin Hua panicked.
She dashed forward and nuzzled his body with her head, but the man was unresponsive. He only looked straight ahead and wobbled without saying anything.
The person who was always smiling and messing around with her was no longer there anymore.
Qin Hua froze. She didn't know what to do now. She had done everything and it was still not enough? One thing was clear. She needed to become stronger. Much stronger than she was now.
As she gazed at the little kid who was responsible for everything and the blood pooling from his body, she remembered the red-colored potion she had seen.
[Can I use the healing potion?] She quickly pushed Lu Chen to the back of the elevator, forcing him to squat down with her paws.
She then opened the system's shop feature and clicked on the health potion, not thinking twice about spending the precious skill points she had received from leveling up.
That was it. She couldn't think of anything else. It was simply beyond her power to do anything else. She could only hope and pray that this works.
A tiny vial materialized in her paw and Qin Hua quickly shoved the contents into Lu Chen's mouth. Thankfully it didn't have a screw top or anything that might need her to have more dexterity in her paws.
She blinked and watched Lu Chen, her heart pounding heavily, but he was still unresponsive and a few seconds later, he closed his eyes and slipped down onto the blood on the floor as if he had fainted.
Qin Hua was completely heartbroken. She let out a loud roar and as everyone was staring at them completely speechless, she pressed the elevator button and the doors closed with a ding.
Not long after, the elevator once again opened and this time the big black dog dragged two people out, grabbing both of them by their shirt and collar in her mouth. Her eyes had a look in them that was as cold as hell itself. The beast seemed furious.
Guan Ye was the first to realize what she was doing and quickly rushed forward to help the dog. He first moved Lu Chen to one of the couches in the lounge area and then Su Yan to the other one.
He could vaguely guess what happened. The little kid probably possessed two kinds of mental abilities, one where permission was required and the other which could be implemented forcefully.
In a last-ditch attempt, the kid probably used the second one on Lu Chen. Mental abilities were indeed truly terrifying! Guan Ye shook his head helplessly. Luckily for him, the kid never used it on him.
He then turned his gaze to look at the dog, who now appeared to be the only one left who had any kind of strength.
The others also stared at Qin Hua, completely terrified of her. They had no clue about what just happened and wondered what the crazy beast was going to do next.
Except for Guan Ye, Alex, and Xu Meilin, some of the others even slowly backed out, wanting to run out of the apartment complex from hell, and the ferocious demon beast.
However, before anyone could make a move and escape, loud bangs started echoing from outside the metal barricades.
