Chapter 25: A Contract with the Devil
Chapter 25: A Contract with the Devil
"We don't want any impure in our clan, kick them out of here or do whatever, just don't let them ruin our bloodline."
The words echoed through the grand hall, uttered by an old man with flowing grey hair, a long grey beard, and pointy ears. Seated on a wooden chair, he exuded authority as he presided over the room. The chamber resembled a miniature version of a throne room, with a regal red carpet stretching towards the wooden chair, and yellow chandeliers casting a warm glow on the intricately carved walls.
Overwhelmed by confusion and despair, I found myself sprawled on the plush red carpet, my tears flowing freely. I raised my gaze, searching for solace, only to be met with the piercing stares of those who stood beside the throne. Anger etched on their faces, they regarded me with a mix of disdain and rejection.
In that vulnerable moment, thoughts raced through my mind. "Why is this happening to me? What did I do to deserve such treatment?" The questions haunted me, intensifying the ache in my heart. I yearned for the protection of my parents, the belief that they would shield me from such cruelty.
With a flicker of hope, I turned my gaze towards a silver-haired elf, expecting understanding and support. Instead, her expression revealed only disgust. Why were they treating me this way? Was it solely because of my bloodline? Because my magic was not as strong as theirs?
"Patriarch, I have told you many times, mixed blood have no place in inner circle of castle. Letting her live even after being born as half human is a mercy on it own. Its for the best if we sell her to the slave traders." another elf said, a frown and anger on his face.
The old man, who seemed to be the patriarch of the clan, leaned forward in his chair, his eyes filled with disdain. "Mercy?" he scoffed. "There is no place for mercy when it comes to preserving the purity of our bloodline. We cannot afford to dilute our power with impurities."
His words cut through me like a knife. I had always known that I was different, that I didn't quite fit in with the rest of the clan. But how can they be so cruel to even think about selling me to slave trader?
"But... but I'm still your family," I managed to stammer, my voice trembling with emotion. "I'm your blood too. Doesn't that count for anything?"
The silver-haired elf, her eyes narrowed, stepped forward, her voice dripping with contempt. "Blood alone does not determine worthiness. We are a clan defined by strength, power, and pure elven heritage. Your human blood tarnishes that legacy. We cannot allow weakness to contaminate our lineage."
She approached me, her presence bearing the weight of disappointment and shame. Her words cut deep. "I am ashamed to admit that I fell for a relationship with those deceitful humans and gave birth to an impure like you. I can no longer bear the guilt. Begone from my sight, as that filthy human father of yours."
As I looked at the faces of the elven women who once I called mother, I couldn't hep but disgust. It was a crushing realization that no matter how desperately I sought their acceptance, it would never come. They saw me as a stain on their pure heritage, an unworthy outcast.
Days turned into nights, and nights turned into an eternal darkness within my soul. When consciousness eventually returned, I found myself bound by chains, their weight an oppressive reminder of my captivity. My attempts to scream were silenced by a cruel contraption that sealed my lips.
I tried to struggle against the chins, but my struggles were silenced by the electrical shock from a metallic colour on my neck.
Time passed, marked only by hunger, thirst, and the echoes of my internal screams. Amidst the despair, a metamorphosis occurred. My anguish transformed into a seething anger, burning deep within me. In that rage, I found an ember of determination—a flicker of desire for revenge.
If only I was given a chance...if only I was free, I would kill every last one of those noble bloodline.
I was bullied every day of my life, fed on the leftovers. I was treated worse than a slave, but I endured it all, all in the hopes that my mother will one day accept me.
But in the end, it was all for nothing. My ambition, my dreams, shattered before my eyes. I am nothing but a impurity to them...
I didn't choose to be born as half elf, I didn't choose to be born with less magic, then why, why am I being punished for someone's else's mistakes?
At the end of the day, my mother was one of those too. One of those proud Nobel bloodline. Those who believe they are superior than others... they aren't qualified to live in this world.
If I can only get a chance, to show them how inferior they are. I will free this world from those parasites...
[Rage....Anger....Pain....Hahahahahhaha....Hahahahhahahahahahhahaahhaha ]
Amidst my solitude, a voice resounded, deep and ominous, reverberating through the depths of my being. "Who are you?" I trembled, both fearful and curious of the monstrosity lurking within my mind.
[I am the answer to your rage, the embodiment of your cries, and hope for your revenge]
the voice responded, its tone hauntingly captivating. Who would extend a helping hand to someone like me—abandoned by society, expelled from my own family? "Can you help me seek revenge?" I mustered, intrigued by the possibilities that lay before me.
[I thrive on hatred, I feed on anger. Make a contract with me, and I shall bestow upon you my powers, granting you the means to achieve your revenge]
"A contract?" I inquired, both apprehensive and desperate for a path forward.
[ In exchange for your anger, I shall grant you strength. In exchange for your rage, I shall gift you wisdom. But remember, should your hatred wane, or your anger grow cold, I will come to claim your soul. In the eternal depths of hell untold.]
A chill ran down my spine as I weighed the consequences of such a pact. The allure of power mingled with the cost of damnation.
[Tell me, would you make a contract with a devil?]
If this pact could aid me in exacting revenge, if it could empower me to reshape the world, then I would accept its terms. In the face of my relentless determination, I uttered my decision to the abyss within. "I am ready to make a contract with the devil."
[Tsk...hahhahahhahaha...Hahahahahhahaha....HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAAAAAA. ]
