Vol. 10 - Chapter 485 - The things left behind after the busting Yokai
At last, we had pummeled the ghost of ‹Yokai - Just One More›. I am really proud of you, Aegis!
But now here comes the question.
Now that we had gained a ticket, it was time to consider how to use—oops, not this. I mean, since yokai was no longer clinging to us, we should continue with our grind.
"Err...... It seems we have another ‹Job Ascension Ticket› now......"
"Woahh! Way to go, Sierra! Now we have a total of three tickets!"
I raised my hand in excitement for high five as Sierra revealed the drop with a stupified voice. Almost subconsciously, Sierra followed the motion for high-five. Clap
Ohh, nice!
It was evening.
Initially, we had been surrounded with a veil of anxiousness while we grind for the ticket in the morning, but that all changed when we finally completed our objective.
Yes, we managed to score three tickets in just one day! Now ‹Eden› had a total of 6 tickets. I couldn’t have asked for anything better!
It was all thanks to the ‹Reversed Misfortune Phenomenon› that was common among the players.
It was like all the repressed luck that couldn't make any waves due to the ‹Yokai - Just One More› suddenly burst forth in succession once that missing last item was in your hand. Eh, I know it's quite a cryptic phenomenon. It was a common occurrence to see players seething on forums and other websites, "A single one would have been fine. Why are we getting double to triple drops of all case!?"
The overload of luck, aka ‹Yokai - Please No More Redundant›. Players would often find themselves surrounded by an avalanche of items with similar rarity, except that they hardly needed them during then.
Those drops were like snowfall, dropping like crazy when no one wanted them. Yet, at the crucial moment, it just happened that they somehow stopped dropping. Of course, this, too, accompanied by player's outrage like 'What kind of dogshit system was it?! Why aren't they dropping now but were popping out till yesterday for nothing?!'
The dam of fortune that had formed, and suppressed, from oppression of yokai was finally bursting forth after the yokai had been busted. Ah, the tearful sight of players was truly something.
But hey, the outburst of luck for us was moving on the right trend at least. At last, we could grind for tickets properly.
"Something's off. Why does no one seem to be excited, Brave-kun?"
"They seemed to be taken away by their surprise I guess."
However Nico gave me a hard stare in response.
It was another familiar sight. Something that I knew very well. I could understand why they were startled at the sudden improved drop rate.
"I'm not a mind reader but I guess...it's definitely not what you're thinking, Brave-kun."
I pretend to turn a deaf ear at Nico's implication.
Ultimately, we stopped at the three ticket counts for the day.
Sierra and Mert were harbouring an extremely perplexed expression. Just in the morning, they were flustered if it was even possible to get the ticket. And now, their expressions were literally like someone had carved their expression out of stone.
Finally, Mert, as the representative, stepped up to ask, his tone heavy.
"Zephyr...did you know how this would turn out?"
"No way. I didn't really care about the follow-up situation as long as we got one."
Well, this was the typical mechanism of yokai curses. The more you chase after something, the more it will try to escape from your grasp. But would immediately come to become the albatross in your neck when you finally breakthrough.
If I were to quote myself, this is what it is. There's really no logical reason why suddenly more tickets started to drop after the first—or maybe the last ticket for us.
Yeah, I hope they don't waste their brain power over something there's no clear explanation for. I explained the same to them.
"This just...doesn't make sense."
"My head hurts."
Woah, the brainpower of our guild were simultaneously clutching their heads, Now it was definitely a rare sight.
"Long story short, there's no way to understand the yokais. Of course, make sure to remember how to deal with them though."
"But I don't think there's anyone who can repeat that, except you, Zephyr."
"How I would have loved to hear it's just a joke......"
It's true though. I mean, the games were always the number one victim of yokais.
This was how our conversation played out. But hey, we had no reason to stay anxious now at least.
Then comes the night. We decided to hold a meeting on how to use the ‹Job Ascension Ticket›. After dinner, we moved to the guild, which would typically be deserted at night, but this was an important occasion.
Once the classes start tomorrow, others would be more busy in sorting out their schedule which would make it harder to converse at once. So it was best to sort it out now while we still had the leeway.
"It wouldn't be good to stay up late so let's sort it out quickly."
"What, you don't really expect for us to sort out such an important matter so quickly, do you?"
"Just hear me out, Sierra. I am here after proper consideration. All that is left is to announce the result."
I said and looked at the guild members sitting on either side of the long table. We had a total of 20 members joining us, 18 from ‹Edem› plus Nico and ‹Celestine›.
The result would be later sent to ‹Arc-Arcadia› and ‹Helper›.
"First of all, it's really good to see everyone here despite the odd timing. Now I will start with how we're going to use the tickets."
My words prompted a serious nod from everyone.
Advanced Job.
Apple of everyone's eyes. One that they adore absolutely. Something the people would do anything to get their hand on one. It was akin to exalted existence.
The obvious way to use the tickets was to change into an advanced job. But of course, it was the ardent desire of everyone, one that was easy to arouse conflict.
Many guilds were often cornered to being disbanded after being unable to reach one conclusion on their usage. Well, ‹Eden› wasn't one of those many guilds of course.
I'm sure it's just a matter of time before we score in many more ‹Job Ascension Ticket› later too. Today's result was sufficient proof.
"We have managed to secure three tickets today, and along with the three our guild already had, this makes a total of 6. I would be deciding the 6 max levelled members who would be using them to jump into advanced jobs.
But of course, it wouldn't be the only time we will be having tickets. We're going to farm them more and more in the coming days too. So I hope you all patiently wait for that day if you're not selected. Alright, I will start now."
My words immediately stirred the members. Three tickets in a single day wasn't less than a miracle. If it was possible, I would really pat the back of my old self who decided to wait for advanced job promotion until Nico was ready to buff our chances.
It was highly possible today wouldn't be the only day we get multiple tickets. I explained so that they could be reassured about the future. Once they're assured, we could avoid stepping on landmines.
It was my message that ‹Job Ascension Ticket› was just another item, waiting for us to simply seeks them out, for our guild. This was our first step to get everyone on the same pedestal.
Well, I wasn't expecting everyone to believe immediately but this should lighten their mood atleast.
I started with my plans for the future.
"As everyone knows, the foremost goal of ‹Eden› is to pave a path for S-rank, but. I also want to explore the advanced dungeons as well."
The members stirred again, albeit faintly.
It was probably the first time I announced my plan officially about the dungeon but from their reaction, I presumed they had seen this coming.
"Advanced Jobs were a must for the advanced dungeons. So these six tickets would be going to the member who will be first stepping to challenge the advanced dungeons."
"It sounds fantastic. It would boast the potential of our guild and would be another huge leap toward the goal. I'm in."
"Advanced dungeons huh. Fufu, count me in. I can't miss the chance to get one over on my Esteemed Father and Brother!"
Sierra showed her support, meanwhile Lana seemed to be lost in her incomprehensible monologue.
Well, I wasn't trying to illicit their opinion intentionally, but their words pushed everyone to consider it positively.
It was then someone suddenly raised their hand. It was Mert.
"I want to ask one thing, Zephyr. Are you sure you can clear the advanced dungeons?"
Oh, right. It kinda slipped about the potential doubt about them that world had. Everyone's gaze was back on me.
For me, though, there were only two words in response to the question.
"Of Course."
"Phew, alright. I have nothing more to add. I will look forward to the day you achieve it."
There was no words of doubt or question following Mert's response. After concluding that, I started to list out the name who would be taking the ‹Job Ascension Ticket›.
